A few years back I went to Norway on a business trip. The first leg of the flight was an Air France business class flight to Paris.

At meal time they brought me a heavy, sturdy spoon and fork that came from a very elegant, expensive silverware set and a plastic knife.

I could have easily killed or mained someone, or chopped thru the cockpit door with the fork, but wasn't allowed a real butter knife.

PS: The food on the flight was tremendous!

I find this totally unbelievable.

Who ever heard of airline food that was actually edible? :p

And by the way, I know a man who cut the last two digits off of one finger while slicing a banana with a plastic knife. It slipped right in and separated the knuckle. Left it hanging by the skin on the back side.

That was one sharp banana.

I wouldn't have believed it either if it hadn't happened to me. The meal on the return flight was just as good.

Me! But it was 1st class also - Flight from San Francisco back home, which we got an upgrade on. Food served on china, with silverware, the works and yes, fresh baked cookies just like you imagine (done in the microwave of course). I specifically remember the corn chowder as being one which I would have loved the recipe for. No joke.

Unlike Tex, no plastic butter knife to be seen :p

Last time I went to Vegas I flew 1st class and the food was great. It was a breakfast flight, and I just had cold cereal and fruit, and 6 bloody mary's, but the person net to me had what looked to be a nice omlette. I don't know what kind of food they had on the redeye coming back.

Oh, no.

Nothing nearly that dramatic.

But if it hadn't been for that Bloody Mary, I'm sure I wouldn't have survived the flight with the hangover I had.

Speaking of hangover, we saw that movie last night. It was a horribly spastic farce and I laughed all the way through.

I need to try THAT breakfast next time I fly out there. I'm sure the flight goes a lot quicker with 6 Bloody Mary's in you ;)
