Howdy folks!!! Just wanted to say Hello. After a long weekend, most of which I spent feeling horrible, I've managed to back track thru the last few pages of posts. I'm glad to see everyone still posting here (well, almost everyone at least). Be well all and have a great Monday. /me vows for the umpteenth time not to miss Mari's next fireworks show.

From: Madhu Maruti Oh dear, we do have such a fountain in our garden, but it's a popular theme so I don't think the one you backed into is ours. Might have been though! :o
I end up in the canal every time I try to get out of my rowboat. Do you have a wall around your garden? I accidently drove over a wall to get to the fountain to drive into it. which leads into From: Brenda Connolly Lexxi's car looks suspiciously like the one that almost sideswiped me on Rt 80 last night. (1) I was attempting to remove my clothing, sorry. (2) Neat that a 1929 car is still out there on the road :) I like my Primouths, and I like randomly picking a car to zoom around in. The sim had a date that ends in 1928 or something like that, and my oldest car is 1929, so that is why I was in it. oh, and pics. I took many neat pictures the other night at 3Ring's place. Most, when I looked, ended up being black squares. Here's the only one with 3Ring in it. Stupid black squares :( I rather like Mistress dress, so I post this one . . and I want to be in the picture too, so (my outfit from Last Call)

We'll send Brenda over to kidnap you, that way you will both show up. But then again, you showing up bound with duct tape might not be a good idea at Livingtree.

From: Lexxi Gynoid I rather like Mistress dress, so I post this one . . I wanted to point out that Sonia's avatar (left) looks remarkable - even more so when viewed in the client. It still has that SL look, but it's one of the most realistic and beautiful avatars I've seen.

Lexxi, just wondering. Since SL is mirroring real life more each day, has Primouth been national....I mean have they received a bailout?

From: Pserendipity Daniels If you mean Jig, then I am pleased that she is posting in a very civilised manner. Pep (Except for misspelling civilised. ) PS It isn't people I have problems with, it is what they sometimes do. There seem to be more than one way to spell it. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/civilized

If I got to choose, my first choice would be that I wasn't the one wearing the duct tape. However, they say variety is the spice of life, and I'm usually up for trying something new, so what the heck. Besides, the little voice in my head tells me to let Brenda do whatever she wants. PS: Cool butterfly!

ETA: Out of respect for the original poster I've deleted the quote of the post that previously occupied this space. ---------------------------------------------------- Interestingly enough even the Cambridge online dictionary list the "z" version of the world as being the standard. Plus I thought the second definition was very fitting for this conversation. civilize, UK USUALLY civilise verb [T] 1 to educate a society so that its culture becomes more developed: The Romans set out to civilize the Ancient Britons. 2 to improve someone's behaviour: I like to think I had a civilizing effect on my younger brothers.

From: Rioko Bamaisin Or worse, that YMCA song... mmm, yeah, we *have* sung that one on previous occasions. In some ways my family is dreadfully conventional. BUT At the same sister's last wedding the big song, the Bollywood number, was "She Drives Me Crazy" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7jG8EWr63k.

Interestingly enough Kaimi seems to have deleted her post . . . Interestingly enough the correct way to spell it is with an 's' since it has a Latin root, and as Jig and all of you erudite Threadies indubitably know, there was no 'z' in the Latin alphabet. Ignorance and probably an inability by illiterates to write the letter 's' the correct way around consistently has led to the version with a 'z' being generally accepted. Pep (It doesn't make it correct though.)

Pep (It doesn't make it correct though.) Which Latin alphabet do you mean, Pep? Latin is not one uniform, static thing. Vulgar Latin, which predates English, had a Z. Also, having a Latin root doesn't guarantee that the word entered English directly from Latin. It's more likely to come by way of France. .

If'n theys can use it with a "z" fer over 4 hunnert years, I 'spect it ta be correct enough fer us what ain't gots the book-learnin' o some others.

Stop trying to make me learn. I demand the topic goes back to LOL cats and equally fluffy nonsense. Seven, I can honestly say I never sang that freakin song. I make sure I am in the bathroom or something at weddings during it.

OK off the wall subject in this never meandering thread...
Do you ever take one look at a thread outside of here and just decide not on your life r u going to get bogged down in that freshload of crap again?
There have to be like three or four i am actively avoiding right now. Thankfully one which fell off first page finally.

It is a dead language, maintained in stasis only by the Catholic Church. And I wouldn't have anything to do with something "vulgar". I'll leave that to the rest of the Threadies. Pep (French generally abhors the letter 'z' as well, but the etymological principle still applies; Greek root words can use 's' or 'z' if you like.) PS Four hundred whole years, eh Jerboa! Gosh, isn't that a long time! PPS Well, no, not really!
