RObert Conrad.... I wouldn't have guessed he was still alive.

I was a HUGE fan of Wild Wild West on TV as a kid, although now if I see one I am amazed to see how campy it was.

Unlike most ppl (apparently) I wasnt' so down on the movie. I rather enoyed it actually. Unlike most movies from the last 20 years it wasn't all about sex, political preaching, or toilet humor.

I expected the film to reference the original theme music from the TV show, but after an hour or so I did not hear it and had given up. Then they used it to punctuate the turning point in the action - very cleverly employed. When our heroes escaped and burst forth at a high rate of speed to go fight the bad guys, that music I loved so much as a child blasted across the room as the horses blasted across the screen. It sent chills down my spine, and nearly brought a tear to my eye.

Music moves me.

Music moves me.

It made Stevie Wonder..............

For my next number I offer up one that is a bit rough to post here, so I'll just link to it.

Stephen Lynch's "Go Down to the Old Pub Instead".

Dear Your Dripnificence,

Well.. the movie just wasn't as good as the TV show, which is, of course, an unfair comparison. Man, I loved that show.

(pondering now...well...Will, Kevin and Ken put in fine performances...so, OK....it was an OK movie.)

I gotta say Claire's posting a picture of Dr. Loveless makes me wanna see the flick again.

Remember in the original series, the episode where they fought the "Juggernaut"? It was kinda referenced in the movie. The juggernaut was sorta written as the precursor of the military tank, but even as a kid I could see it was a farm tractor covered in cardboard boxes. *chuckle*

The torch lit by WWW was carried briefly in the 1990s in a TV series called "Briscoe County Junior" starring Bruce Campbell. I loved that one, too. It was very similar in style with multiple sci-fi, and fantasy elements as well as plenty of real-world anachronistic references, and of course done with much more expensive special effects. Scripts were clever on multiple levels and there was much enjoyment from the interaction between Briscoe and his sentient horse, Comet.

John Astin played a nutty professor type, allowing him to sort of reprise key aspects of the personality he was known for in The Adams Family. I have Netflixed the entire BCJ series more than onc since its demise and found more delight in it each time.

Bob Conrad: a Hollywood has-been now an alkie? Hardly a surprise there.

At first I intended this to be the XPOD. I decided against that, and instead just post it for amusement and/or discussion .

It's hard to believe he actually posed with a Gatling gun...

Although WWW had lots of great elements, (including Will Smith) somehow the whole movie wasn't really that enjoyable for me.

The stakes are a lot higher now. Around 25,000 Lindens I believe.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

It was most definitely an Indiana Jones movie, that's for sure. I loved every minute of it. Lots of "inside humor", too. "Raiders" is still my favorite, but I don't regret spending the money on this movie for one second.
