One of these days, I keep telling myself I'll figure out how to hook up to streaming, and descend on an open mic night somewhere in SL. Haven't gotten the nerve up yet.

Definitely true, but they really do need to figure out how to at least fake it with some of our non-US folks. They cannot even get some countries thru the process.

I agree in that I am very happy to see this in the sense that it does mean that, at least for now, LL wants to keep the adult content available on the grid.

I could optimistically and naively suggest that it's because there were many half-assed ill thought out ways they could have gone, but they actually waited until they had a coherent plan before wasting time (and annoying people) making idiotic changes.

But I won't.

There isn't much different being said. Mostly so far people are talking about age verification of alts. (Don't ask me why!) It is a BIG issue when you consider that there are over 260 sims in that part of SL.

I'm sure there are people who for instance have conflicting RP characters. Overnight those will vanish...

It is TOO easy to get access to personal info once it's given out. SL won't be SL any more; it will be RL with flying.

Might as well walk into your local hardware store in silks, for all the anonymity SL will give ya, should this merge get a go sign.

Or, the Sunday school teachers working as SL escorts...might as well go ahead and get that pr0n website with high res digital pix. You are outed.

I don't know about that. I just thought it was funny that people cared if their ALTs were age-verified but didn't worry about their main account being verified.

The solution is to not verify individual avatrs, you verify the main account and all avatars work from that.

I'm usually the first one on the bash LL soapbox, but the hyseria is a bit premature on this. we should be wary of course, it is LL, but the sky may be hanging by a few threads, but it isn't falling yet.
