Thanks 3. Now, I feel like I should do something "important" with this land. Something grand, far-reaching, encompassing a vision of SL never seen before.

Or, I'll just continue to landscape like a mad woman. Eat up all those prims with trees, flowers, fish and animals.

How pedestrian. I need a blast of creativity :( Maybe I should pick up everything on the land and just live with it empty for a week until divine inspiration hits me.

you could always subdivide it out and let me have a go at it! i KNOW i could use up all those prims in just one day! :p

Anymore I have stopped trying. If they don't tell me, I don't worry about it and just go ahead and treat them as a new person. It really would only matter if I was going to get personally involved with them.

LOL! Actually, I'll *probably* hand some more land over to Ghosty's art gallery for one thing. But seriously, I think I need a plan of sorts. Even if I give him another 1000, I'll still have over 10000 left for myself and that's a nice big piece of land. I don't want to do anything commercial because my sim is very small and quiet, with little traffic and I'd like to keep it that way. But, I wouldn't mind having some kind of public space perhaps, something a little private, known only to a small group of people. Only problem is Ghosty just went and did something similar, which I'm co-caretaker of so I don't want to replicate that. And, being there is already an art gallery on the premises, can't do that.

Meh. Got some thinking to do.

I've only spotted alts a couple times, and usually wish I had not!

A really dumb question, but I am building something and I don't remember on a linked set. How do I change which prim is the root prim? I am not very experienced on building things.

Yes, you are very correct there. I would hate to be tricked like that by an alt. I absolutely hate the folks that use alts to play head games or scam people.

I, too, had plenty of red flags. But I was in love and my love was unconditional. Actually one of the best things abut the whole experience is that I could look back and know it was all love on my part.
The very best thing is that once I healed myself I never suffered like that again - not even a little. If I'm not enjoying myself I'm just gone, no hard feelings or harsh words. I learned to love being self sufficient.

Even now after almost 22 years with my perfect soul mate, I know I'd be very sad and lonely if I lost him, but I know I'd be ok, too.

eta: And yeah don't trust anybody with anything you can't afford to lose. Even the very best person can have make mistakes or have accidents.

Same here, with the red flags. People warned me, but I said to myself that it was her that I was in love with (at the time), not the people frantically waving red flags in front of my face. I chose to believe her, and I know now that it was a horrendous mistake - but I thought "what if I was right, and that she really was all that she said was?" I accept that I made the wrong decision to believe, as an adult, and that I had other choices. I did the best that I could do, and you are right, that is a comfort, and the right way to live your life.

Personally, I feel most sorry for those that had no choice. The poor very young kids of the guy she moved in with will now grow up hardly ever seeing their father. Of course that might not be such a big loss in the long term, but it must be hell for them right now, and for another ten to fifteen years. It will completely shape their lives. I can't imagine a life being brought up by one parent. I was always running to the door to greet my Dad when he came back from work, every day, I missed him so much. But days, or weeks, or maybe even months without seeing him would have really upset me. I guess I was really lucky - I remember that my parents (both deceased) argued a lot, but at least they both stuck around until we were all grown up. But these kids did nothing wrong, and they didn't deserve to be impacted by something that happened to other people in SL, and to keep on losing for decades to come. But kids are tough in some ways I guess, and I hope they get over it and find their own peace and understanding.

Going off of memory here, so might not be completely correct:

Edit, Edit linked parts, select the current root and whatever the new root will be and 'unlink', then select the whole remaining item, the old root and the new root and 'link'.

If my memory serves me right... the root prim will be the first one you selected before linking. I would unlink them all and select the prim you want as your root first and then the others you want to link together.

Or what Lil says...

Yeah, I can never freakin remember if the root is the first or last of the linkset until I do it and then have to redo it cuz I always remember wrong at first.

The root prim is the last one you select, just before you link them. If you can, make it one that is in the middle of the linked set, as it helps accurate placing and orientation later on.

That.

For me, the trickiest part is numbering the rest of the prims.

The way I do it is I link the whole lot in one go with a wide selection, then unselect the prim that I want to be the root, then re-select it as the last one. LOL - I think this is faster, but now I describe it in words, I am not so sure... :)

If there are lots of prims and nothing else that might also get selected that should not be, this probably is the fastest way.

Yup - it works for me, although you can also set your selection tool to only select your objects (doesn't help if you have lots of other objects that you own in the same space, that you don't want to be linked).
