Ghosty! Welcome back. :)

Krispy Kreme...yum yum.

@Brenda: :( Pretty bad in Jersey today? Snow is supposed to hit a rate of 2-3 inches/hour up here this morning.

Actually, KK are the WORST donuts in the world - except when they are fresh and still piping hot. That's the only time they're awesome. :)

Jersey is indeed being inundated with snow. What's outside my window makes me stay indoors today! *brr*

But...

"Key" is the one-th most popular fist name? Oh, nice.

I made it to work before the snow started up here. Getting home again tonight....that's another story.

I had been to a rock show earlier- thought it wd be appropriate- i was over dressed there too. And the singer... oh my god- at first he was really good, great voice, covered some good songs, etc - then it turned out his uploads had gotten erased and u gotta give the guy credit, he tried- he tried to fil the time with a little chat while new stuff uploaded- but - omg- he drove me nuts he was so boring!!! I hightailed it on out before i could pass out then went to that Native American place - I highly recommend that build- it was beautiful.

uploads? I do not understand. I've been to a ton of live music events. Oh, rock show, didn't say live music. All the live shows I've been to involved streaming except one where they guy used voice. All the dj events I've been to, much fewer though they are, have also involved streaming in stuff, not playing uploaded stuff.

I've given a mini-performance at the hangout way back in the day where I played the music instruments I had gathered in my wanderings (which involved uploaded music). Very difficult to perform that way. There is a distance issue, and not everyone can hear even if distance issue taken care off. And there are a lot of freezing, skipping, etc. when trying to get the music to actually play.

*Tosses Lexxi a donut

Up here we don't see too many actual Krispy Kreme shops, you will see them in 7 -11's and such and they are OK, but not great. I still prefer Dunkin, or one of several independant shops. But KK's right off the line are good. At the Excalibur in Vegas you can watch them being made, so I always stop in for a few

Pretty much that describes all donuts, doesn't it? I had my first Tim Horton's when I was up in Canada last year. They were good.

KK from 7-11 can be ok if you can't get real KK. But if only experience of it is from places like 7-11, then I understand the reaction, now.

Though Giant, the supermarket, used to be able to keep them fresh for a while, but they seem to stop carrying them. And the closest actual KK shop is a distance. :(

DD, though, are all over the place here.

Dunkin and KK are both ok in my book.

I've become fond of Tim Horton's.

And..we have a little local shop. Frosty's that have the absolute best doughnuts I have ever tasted. If only it weren't such a pain for me to get to on my morning commute.

Snow snow snow
01-28-2009 06:41
It snowed last night, it's snowing now. My boss stayed home because he has a horrendous commute even when the weather is fine.

I like the snow. I do walk to work, though, so I don't have to put up with the inability of other drivers.

But hey, I was born in the snow. My mother had to walk up a snow-covered hill to the hospital because the car couldn't make the climb.

Near my house there's a big open square and every time it snows, the plows make a huge mound at one point near the edge of it.

Because of rain and temperature changes, that mound, which was still seven feet high yesterday, got to be pretty solid.

Somebody cut into it, made a tunnel, and carved a bathroom, with a lifesize sink, toilet, and shower. It's cute... sorry, no picture.

Ugh, can't wait to see what awaits me when I get home tonight. When I left this morning, around 7:15am, there was at least 2 inches on the ground already. By the time I got to NYC, it was kind of rainy and slushy, that real yechy, messy stuff that is hell to walk in. Not looking forward to walking outside for lunch. Could call up but I have errands to run later on :(

I can eat KK creme (heh, I mean kreme) up to a week (might be pushing it, maybe three days). Can taste good crunchy. The rest you can't eat except fresh (well, I can also have the DD chocolate creme for a few days, less time than the kreme from KK).

By the way, I never can find my actual favorite donut :( It is the Krispy kreme, but instead of white kreme, it is chocolate creme. I have had it and it is outstanding, but never see it anywhere :(

Krispy Kreme doughnuts always make me think of my childhood, since on Sundays, after each Mass, there was a table set up outside the church, where you could purchase a box (or two) to bring home. :)

Well, I'm not a fan of chocolate. :/ And KK fresh and hot beats all donuts, hands down ... but after that they are too much like heavy cake and not enough like donuts. DD keeps the correct donut consistency after cooling. :)

Donuts. I can take or leave them but if pressed to make a decision:

1. KK - glazed only. Hot, cold - don't care. I'll eat the whole box. The KK on West 23rd Street in NYC used to (might still) have them coming out hot all day long. Oh my! Such delight!
2. DD - glazed or plain.
3. Delicious Orchards - Apple Cider. Yum yum eat um up now. This is in Freehold, NJ. I must take Ghosty down there some day. Brenda mentioned Shop-Rite makes a darn good one too, they do but not like these.
3. Entemans - Chocolate glazed, available from the grocery store only. Yes, these are CRAP. And seem not to be quite what I remember as a kid but these are dangerous to have in the house. I do NOT buy them any longer because of this!

BTW, Ghosty keeps boasting his mama makes excellent homemade donuts. I'll have to report back on this if I'm every lucky enough to convince her to make them for me while visiting :)
