From: Trout Recreant I dream of my own private trout pond. Maybe not indoors, though. It makes casting a little difficult. Unless, of course, your ceilings are high to accommodate the camera that's always above and behind your avatar. Oh! You're talking about RL! /me has been in SL waaaaay too much the last couple of days!

From: Damien1 Thorne Don't worry Claire, we won't tell Graph about all the things you did while he was gone. Oh Graph... don't believe what you read in this thread. Claire was very good during your absence. /me slips Damien a tenner. Not at all Graph, I was a very good girl. I didn't even want to go topless, or fall out of a tree, or become vampire food or.....

From: Allegria Kanto /me sighs in agreement... Especially 19th century love. Those old guys really knew how to write. Not to disparage our guys, whose prose lights many a ladies' heart. I think she's talking about you, Trout.

From: Maureen Boccaccio /me hands Derbor some items to buff up those fangs... .. reaches with one hand to take the 'items' while gently holding her outstretched fingers with the other... pulls firmly, turning her back towards him... his arm enveloping her as she leans back against him... holds her tight feeling her hold her breath as he holds her against his cold body... leans in close, his lips brushing her ear, inhales deeply and... hmmmm .d

From: Yosef Okelly I think she's talking about you, Trout. Am I one of the old guys who knew how to write or one of the new guys she's trying not to disparage? Either way, I can throw a few words out there when the opportunity presents itself. I'm sitting back with the old guys watching the new guys do their thing. Us old farts may be forgotten by the women as they play with their shiny new toys, but we can still hold our own when we need to.

From: Amaranthim Talon Yes please, our own poets in residence are exempt from any prose bashing (I'm breathlessly awaiting Yosef's next post myself... and Vampaerus is quite the charmer as well, isn't he?) I wish I could come up with the kinds of posts I got my reputation from at a whim. But something always triggers them, and I never took the time to learn why. That is one good thing about getting older, I have plenty of life experience to draw from. The other hard part of writing prose for men is ... feelings. Yes we have them. But natures has spent a few million years hardwiring us to keep them in check and never let them show. Then comes the modern age and the typical male feeling is to bash someone in the head with a stick and we have to keep those in check as well. Wht do you think men are sprots fanatics? It's because we can let those emotions run free without major consequences in that setting. At this moment I am as far from my family as I have ever been. I'm in a 5 star hotel (which means everything you get free in a 3 star cost 5 times as much as if you paid for it normally) and the City of Calgary is almost breath takingly beautiful. But tonight when I go to bed in my plush room with a great view of the skyline, I will be tinking of a time many years ago when I spent the night in the back seat of a car with my wife and son who was at the time just over two years old. It was bitter cold. We were all in one sleeping bag. I on my back. My wife on her side half laying on top of me with her shoulder in my armpit and her head on my chest. My son on my chest kicking and squirming like toddlers do. The arm rest was my pillow and I could not straighten out my legs. Still ... I had a more invirgerating night of sleep than I will have tonight. Unless one of you lives in Calgary and want to keep me company

That’s my excuse for lurking
05-13-2008 13:45
Yeah,
I'm an old 'fart' too Trout...
That’s my excuse for lurking the forums...
Besides, I wouldn't want to 'jade' the ladies with my wonderful prose... too much of a good thing and they start getting all uppity and demanding for more. Next thing they will be asking for poetry with 'special effects' and 'guest appearances' from famous people...
Reminds me of the story about a young bull, and old bull, and a pasture full of cows...

You know, come to think of it, there are a lot of women who like the "bash people in the head with a stick" part of masculinity.
Maybe I sould make a caveman AV.

Yosef... I for one am willing to wait for those times when you do wax lyrical. After all, the rarer the gift, the more it is treasured. GG and Trout - don't rest on your laurels

GG and Trout - don't rest on your laurels We don't have laurels. Well, GG might. It's not like I'm his spokesman. At any rate, I don't. I've done nothing deserving of laurels. I'm just here to crack jokes, hang out with my friends and have a good time - maybe answer some resident questions. Stop laughing. I've answered a lot of questions. I can be helpful.

Over 50,000 views. That's a record that will take a long time to break. Especially if the forum gets moderation at some point.

I made this up in less than five minutes...

Laurels...hmm... Reminds me of a poem:
Blankety blank the blank blanket...
I made this up in less than five minutes... I know I can do much better if given a whole day to come up with a really good one, but then no one is paying me for my day’s work I don’t do poetry for free my dear... So this one will have to do.

Just to set the record straight.... the old guys I made reference to were Beethoven, Shelley, and a few assorted 18th and 19th century romantics... None of you men on the forums are old... In my mind you're all impossibly handsome, possessing perfectly sculpted bodies, with eyes to drown in and words to make my heart flutter.
