Not much going on yet.. seems it has been a slow morning around here. No vampiric attacks, no poetic seductions (darn!)- but i am sure something will shake things up soon enough  ._____________________

Funny! My own interpretation would be that whatever the problems with SL, the nature of the beast is that we're going to suffer them for some time yet. So we get on with it in the meantime. YIMV, but I'm generally upbeat and optimistic. (Incurable) _____________________

On the Eastern side of the Atlantical pond, we refer to the compartment at the rear of a car (that's "automobile" to those on the Western site) as the "boot". This would be funnier were it not for the fact that it's been an age since I last experienced one of those TPs. _____________________

Zen Linden 09/May/08 09:56 AM - edited Hi folks, So I finally had some time to look at this again. I think it's a rendering issue where we weren't setting glColorMask to the proper state during the baking of the skirt texture (or for any of the other baked textures for that matter) and this would also explain some of the randomness. I've also found that wearing a HUD exacerbates the problem, which would make sense if we're not cleaning up well after hud rendering. I'm testing a fix right now that looks promising, and will let you know how progress goes. For now a workaround might be to take off any HUDs you have, put on your clothing, make sure it bakes, then put on the HUD. I apologize for how long this bug has been around. It seemed to occur starting in 1.18.6, right when we started not cleaning up glColorMasks well. and Zen Linden 12/May/08 11:52 AM - edited Fix is committed, but I don't know if it will make the 1.21 viewer or not. We'll have to see how the QA process goes. I'll keep you posted. Two points: When this fix is introduced, you may still have a disappeared skirt when you try it on the first time as it will still use the old, borked, baked texture at first. Hit ctrl+alt+r for a rebake and it should look fine. Also, if anyone is running open source, I could post a patch if you all want to check out the fix and see if it works for you. Let me know if anyone's interested. Sorry this took so long to look at. Once we get our crash rate down, I'll be able to hit more of these type of bugs. So ... to have my skirt layers rendered properly, I need to risk loosing the animations in my HUDs .... I think I'll do without the overcoats a little while longer. |

Um..I think it means you just re-attach the HUDs after donning your duds for the evening/day/morning. But, I am not sure..haven't tested this theory yet. Maybe someone who is inworld can do some field testing. |

I knew that, but being on the Western side of the Atlantic, it hadn't occurred to me. We call them "cars" far more often than "automobiles", but we don't call trunks boots. There is a slang term over here for when a woman has a little extra padding in the region shown in the picture. She is said by some (not me, I'm innocent) to "have a little junk in her trunk." Personally, I am, once again, innocent and would never say such a thing...on account of being innocent and all...I'm just sayin'... Not that I would ever look at a woman anywhere other than right square in the eye, so I don't notice because they are all beautiful, expecially any of the ones who might read this post. Whistles innocently and backs slowly and nervously away from this post. _____________________
