From: Trout Recreant How did you hear from him? Semaphore? Seriously, that's good news. The news coverage here is sensationalistic to the point where I don't know what to trust, and I really hope that CX and anyone else we have in that area are staying safe and dry. Heh, I think he was using his Crackberry. Heard again from him this am, and all utilities are still out. Everything is closed; no one is supposed to leave their homes, and he said he probably won't be back to work til Thursday or Friday.

From: Ann Launay OK, anyone who checks the fashion blogs regularly is probably familiar with the one devoted solely to hair. I think it's a fabulous concept but my question is, does anyone else ever want to find the primary photographer and demand she do something about the frelling ugly lighting she uses so the pics actually, I dunno, accurately reflect what the hair looks like? I keep seeing styles I know are perfectly cute - because I own them - going across the feed looking like something I would never EVER buy. I feel bad for the creators, having their work presented so poorly. Agreed! Also - it's almost as if the photographer's graphics settings are at a lower setting, because when I go to look at the hair in a store, it seems much nicer than the pic I see on that blog.

From: Ann Launay LeZoo...I just thought the seat pose was cute. It is a cute pose!! Lol, before it completely rezzed in on my home pc, I couldn't tell you were sitting with your knees up in front of you. For a minute there, I thought you were wearing body armor, and wondered what you'd been up to last night!

Maybe she's using an evil default setting, despite the fact that pretty much anyone who cares about av appearance uses something custom? I rarely use the more current viewer I have downloaded - I prefer the Nicholaz 1.18.5.3 - but even I have three or four 'beauty' presets from blogs and such loaded into the environmental editor.

The auction was a joke, ffs! Seriously though, guys rarely talk to me, except for the occasional crass proposition. And, actually, I don't even get as many of THOSE as you might think...

SLX is banned at work, although OnRez is apparently OK. That's probably the one I bought though...I found it on SLX and then went in-world to buy.

From: Claire Silverspar /me has no clue what you are talking about....is it perchance a film quote? Lindal's version is from The Day the Earth Stood Still, an old B&W scifi film. The makers of Army of Darkness then borrowed a version of the phrase for their movie 30-odd years later.

Morning Threadies. A quick hello from my travels. I wanted to let peope know I heard from CX, and they weathered the hurricane fine, with minimal damage. They are without power still this morning, though. I'm spending the morning with my sis, in Davis, and heading to Redding this afternoon. Have a great day!!

Heh, we talked about this earlier in the thread, but I do wonder what the new version of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" will be like... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970416/

If you are please go to "Jack's" for me and order the best steak of your life. Haven't been there for years but sure as heck hope it is still there. When I lived in S OR, I used to drive down all of the time just to eat there and would meet people from SF that would drive up. yummy!!!!!

From: someone Would Leia's metal bikini count as 'armor'? Because I just bought an excellent version of that... An armoured metal bikini seems a bit like putting a locked gate in a field that has no fence, hedge or ditch around it! I imagine a bullet thinking to itself 'shall I go above or below?'

Heh, but it probably was not designed for bullet-ridden areas... ...and as far as swords, knives, etc., with her cat-like reflexes, Ann could easily evade any hand-to-hand combat moves. (and she is Wonder Woman, too, so Ann is able to deflect stuff with her vambraces.)

From: Ghosty Kips Why in the world would an employer ban SLX??? You'd be amazed. When I worked a contract job doing Help Desk, we had "free reign" over surfing the 'Net. Unfortunately, the only unblocked sites were CNN, NBC, Google, and a few other news sites. To them SLX falls under the term "game site".
