I absolutely hate RL shopping, but I think I would take it over bears, coyotes, and even swamp alligators.
Well ... I guess I would to now that I think about it.

"Ballerina" by Vaughn Monroe was what the hospital staff were probably humming when my mom was having me. I've never heard of the song or the artist. I listened to part of it on iTunes and it seemed pretty boring. "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye was number 1 when I had my son.

Sheila by Tommy Roe

The really cool part - my real name is Sheila
I loved that song! Maybe it influenced your parents when they chose your name.

From: Oryx Tempel
"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Diana Ross. ;)
Another good song. :)

From: Maggie McArdle
Crimson and Clover Tommy James and the Shondels (sigh)
The best one yet. No wonder you have good taste in music, Maggie.

Joan Jett's version is great too.

I wished a plague of locusts on the Fugees for their cover.

Here's what I think. Almost all of us need more attention, approval, affection etc etc from other people than we will ever get. If we do get it from someone for a little while we are terribly disappointed, even mad at them, the first time they fail to transport us as we wish. We all have developed techniques and strategies for avoiding this kind of disappointment and they often involve assuming up front that other people do not mean us well. Then we get hurt if they assume we have worse motives than we think we do.

There is no way on God's green earth that I am going to let this insight go unsung into the archive without giving it a standing ovation!

And I have a lifetime of experience to attest to its validity.

I absolutely agree Max, although I smile every time I think of the cool dudes in the Fugees covering a homage to Neil Diamond

/I don't like covers as a matter of principle - worst ever? "Born To Run covered by FGTH

Ha, then you must have missed their senseless massacre of Suffragette City (B side of Rage Hard, IIRC)

What is really annoying is the songs you remember that were cool or you enjoyed or attach certain memories to from when you were younger show up in television commercials forever changing your memory of the song and its context and ruining those memories forever after.

The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

It's actually kind of funny but after a couple of lines you have to switch to the real thing.

I will concede that Lauryn Hill made a good fist of it, but the muttering cretins in the background needed a good beating with a cricket bat.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

OMG!! Me too. The first time I heard a Muzakified Stones' song, I realized the 1960s had become the new 1940s.
