Everyone out there OK? My heart rate is finally back to normal.... I'm on the second floor and the back wall of my office is all glass... I really thought it was going to break. I think this one was very close to where I work. _____________________

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things. Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut. |

Real News From New Orleans - not a joke
07-29-2008 12:32
![]() NEW ORLEANS LA - WWL Radio Dave Cohen Reporting An alligator tied up traffic on the eastbound I-10 Bonnet Carrie Spillway Bridge for a couple of hours this morning. "It was struck by a car, so he was still in the middle of the roadway," said Trooper Joe Piglia. He tells WWL First News that cops were concerned it could cause a serious crash. "He still had some fight left in him, so we had to call one of the trappers out." Piglia says he understands drivers' frustration with the delays, but fears the alligator could have been a serious speed bump. "It was a big enough gator where it would have caused somebody to lose control of their vehicle and possibly end up in a crash," Piglia insisted. Witnesses pegged the gator anywhere from three feet to ten feet long. Piglia says it was about a four footer. Animal control did remove the gator and traffic slowly returned to normal after eight miles of delay. Piglia says they don't know how the alligator got onto the bridge. "We have no idea. Being that it was at the 217 (mile marker), that's a pretty good walk for an alligator. So, we're not sure whether he fell off a truck, whether he was being transported or if he just happened to work his way up there." He says state police often respond to reports of gators in the road, particularly West of the metro area and in Eastern New Orleans. "CX" (I ride or drive on that section everyday) (the bridge is 12 miles long and he was near the middle) _____________________

On a different topic, it occurred to me a few days ago that we haven't seen Vamperous around in ages- I looked him up here and he last posted on Jul 01- any one know what's become of him?

May I comment that I find it fascinating that an earthquake in LA gets about two column inches in the thread while an alligator on walkabout gets five . . .

Pep (Headline news here in England: Weather remaining the same) Well- we are commenting on being worried for folks and getting in touch- thankfully, there do not appear to be injuries over the earthquake, whereas the gator was called a "speed bump". _____________________

I was in San Jose in the 80's a few days after they had the one that mesed up the double decker bridge - the diluted aftershocks terrified me! We had a tiny one here a couple of months ago and it solved a considerable number of marital problems overnight.

Pep (I hope everyone is OK in LA - I have friends there myself) Pep, I second that. I hope everyone is ok as well. BTW - The alligator is on his way to become a nice pair of boots or a purse. He didn't survive his injuries. "CX" _____________________

Work is making me teh cranky. We instituted a new accounting software system last fall and just went through our first fiscal year end. Mistakes were made, cross year payments were posted, and our balance sheet wound up out of balance. We've been trying to convince our external support team to either fix it or tell us how to for almost two weeks and just keep getting the "We're short-handed, we'll get to it soon" response. Well, our auditors are coming on the 11th and we really need to get the problem resolved, so I suggested a course of action which I believe would fix the problem. Rather than giving a yay or nay, the support project leader instead tells me, "I think it would be better if I fixed it via a back door process. " OK, fine, whatever, just fookin' DO IT already!

"CX" Where can we send flowers to the surviving gator family? A donation in his name to his favorite charity? (I love gator tail!) _____________________
