thank you! *nervously tapping her fingers* :)

Or if you want you can get a head start by going to the downloads page of the site. Seems they have version 1.15.0.2 posted already.

Since I joined at the beginning of this year, I've kept up with every new first-look release and new stable release. I keep my video drivers well updated. I have yet to experience show-stopping problems with any viewer. I have two computers (windows XP and linux), both about 3 years old tech-wise. Maybe I'm just lucky? Anyway, I have full confidence that the new viewer will work just as well as all the rest have for me.

You just have to wonder if LL are sat there watching us crash every two mins....loes our attachments up our backside...stand in unrezzed clothes ...get double teleports all the time....and have to walk everywhere like Charlie Chaplin....with their popcorn having a good laugh at us...I think if we could see them...we would find im right.

Yeah I have an aging Dell Latitude D500 laptop with a 1.6GHz processor and 640Meg RAM plus Intel Extreme graphics which are actually marked as specifically not supported for SL. However it runs fine albeit very slow usually, I haven't had a problem with an update since joining in 10/06. With half a million active users some people's computers are bound to hate any given update. But you could have a virus. You could have your virus checker scanning your cache. You could have out of date drivers. You could have a wierd and nasty application running that interferes with SL. And who knows what else. Doesn't make it any easier if it happens to you, but given there's nothing quite like SL out there the Lindens do a decent job I think in this regard anyway.

One wierd thing I once noticed was that although I tend to get about 2-4 fps which is annoying but just about usable, once I was using SL over an office network at about 8AM PDT and I suddenly started getting frame rates of 15 or 20. So I concluded that it wasn't my rather slow box holding things back it was something in the network.

As per others who commented here I agree... stop with the damn so called upgrades and bring your server hardware into the 20th centry lindens.

So that's the problem! 19th century servers!

The children working in the server mills obviously aren't being whipped hard enough <.<

Could someone please clarify something for me. I'm super sorry if this question has been answered. I've been readying the blog and some people are saying to download the new client off the website and some people are saying to start SL and you will be prompted to download the update while in SL. Which one is it?

If you download and install it NOW, SL won't prompt you to download it when you startup. If you login with the old version, it will prompt you to go get the new version. So, either way, the new version needs to be installed before you can get into SL.

Might as well install it now.

Either way you want to do it is fine, so long as it works.

For me, I haven't had much luck with the client downloading the newest version when prompted after starting it up. So I just go to the downloads page and get it there.

Either, but doing a clean install can sometimes decrease issues, in which case you'd need to use the site.

Thanks for the answers everyone. Do you recommend unistalling the old version first or will the new version copy over the old version?

The new version will copy over the old, but I like to clear the cache on the old, then uninstall before plopping the new in. Just my personal preference.

I prefer to uninstall the old version, completley delete all associated folders, and do a registry clean with 2 different utilities. Then download the new version and install it there.

Thank you again Taylor Bayliss for you suggestion about the video drivers and your sweet IM of concern :-) When i tried to update them with the drivers from a third party website, i got on but only at 800X600 resolution, which sucked but was MUCH better than not being on at all! While i was at work last night my husband (agian my knight in shinning armor) went onto the Dell website and updated my "chip-set-thingie" and DL'ed the ATI drivers for my X600 video card and la la... he got me back on at my previous resolution and settings!!! i hope thoes still having problems find their fix soon.
