I think it is apposite, well constructed satire, but to each their own.

Yes, we're all completely consumed with increasing that post count! It's not that, you know, we enjoy interacting with one another.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Actually this thread brought up a good point about all these surveys.

Its far less garbage than someone wanting to do a gambling loophole, or bring back sexual ageplay.

Intolerance
Combating intolerance is a cornerstone of Second Life's Community Standards. Actions that marginalize, belittle, or defame individuals or groups inhibit the satisfying exchange of ideas and diminish the Second Life community as whole. The use of derogatory or demeaning language or images in reference to another Resident's race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation is never allowed in Second Life.

Humor at the expense of the mentally ill is not funny. I stand my ground. No need to further expand on why it is wrong because you probably wont get it.

I suggest you at least edit your OP to indicate it is 'satire'.

I don't see anything approaching a Community Standards violation in that post. The post satirizes the Outside World's assumptions about SL-users. In what way does it 'marginalize, belittle, defame, or demean' the mentally ill?

Referring to the fact that mental illness exists does not marginalize, belittle, defame, or demean the mentally ill.

Referring to the fact that people who've never tried SL make assumptions about those who participate in Sl does not marginalize, belittle, defame or demean the mentally ill.

I think you are way off base in your call for a change to the OP.

Funny, I just saw William Marshall on cable last night (as the Video Pirate King in "Amazon Women on the Moon";), and was thinking of Original Trek. Which is not a daily occurance for me.

(By the way, Charles Napier, also in "The Way to Eden", is doing great voice work in "Squidbillies" on the Cartoon Network....)

While I do believe that the opinions of the outside world, particularly the news media, regarding Second Life's user base are incredibly wrong, I would not refer to the people who hold them as "mentally ill"; therefore, I will continue to make jokes at their expense - although your stance on the matter has been noted.

OK, I realize that you are an IIPWOSMTMDTFTIHNCWYA(*). However, since most of the rest of the world seems to have understood that the OP was satire without the need for explicit signage, I'm afraid I just can't bring myself to change it merely to satisfy you; I hope you understand.

Enjoy it while it lasts! I'm largely ignorant of Star Trek/Wars in-jokes (neither am I ashamed of this), but the space hippies episode was the first Star Trek show I ever saw when I was little and I thought it was hilarious, so the whole "Herbert" joke occupies a special place in my heart.

The writers of that episode did create the perfect reference with the invention of "Herbert".

Parenthetically: I know there have to be a certain number of builds and even whole sims devoted to Star Trek. I haven't yet been brave enough to go to them. But....someday. Someday.

So your 1600-odd posts are somehow different from everyone else's, Ricardo?

Although if you strip away the ones obsessed with the post counts of others, the rants against SL stores and the dearth of proper female butts on the grid, you don't get much left. So we can only conclude that by repeating the same subjects ad nauseum, you too are fascinated by your own post count. Go figure.

It seems to fascinate you far more than it does most of the rest of us.

My post count is what it is because I enjoy conversing with the people on this board. End of story.

If you need to tell people something is satire, they probably won't get it anyway. Somehow, everyone else seemed to catch on pretty quickly.

It IS a superb television program.

(Since I posted that, I've been reminded that Napier actually voiced the Sheriff for only 12 episodes---in all the other eps, his wonderful voice has been well-imitated by a Mr. Bobby Ellerbee.)

((More on-topic: I would think that the creators of that show might both be the types to be interested in SL, and to give useful answers to Dakota's survey....))

None of them cares about their post-count because they all know that I have every single one of them crushed forevers.

Considering the end of the forums as we know them is coming .. the only real question is will I be able to get over 16,000 and beat Torely and win the Forumz. Including 39% of the prizes and the Motorhome.
