My medication failed to load this morning.

Medication? What is this medication of which you speak? Caffeine is the only medication I need! *jitters for her next dose*

7. Would you be willing to attend deprogramming classes to rescue your captive mind from the ravages of Second Life?
- A) Yes . Can we take them at NCI?

I'm sorry, but NCI no longer offers our widely-acclaimed series of Second Life Deprogramming classes. There were issues regarding the use of electric shock equipment in PG areas.

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Dakota makes it onto the Official Trout Recreant Favorite People in Second Life List. Sorry, I'm going to have to bump someone to make room.

I have learned a lot in this forum over the past few hours, reading through to the end – I am glad I can laugh at myself, and I must say I appreciate all of you for your patience. When I posted my “research” question (SL Identity vs RL Identity), I had no idea how repetitive it would seem – Sorry for that. I have learned a good lesson, and am re-thinking my “wow, what a great space for research!” idea. Now I just feel smarmy (is that a word?). I promise, no more questions of an academic slant, but I will continue to read, if only for the entertainment. Thanks to you all for that!

Ummm...

But it IS a great space for research. :) It's just that surveys aren't the way to do it, particularly not forum surveys. At all. Go bump into people. Deep interview them. Read what they write. Sit and listen. Observe. Content-analyze logs. Write a script and collect some statistics.

Research like a scientist, not like a student out for class credit.

Aww, don't worry. It actually has nothing to do with YOU in particular. Forum surveys are something of a running gag; I'd say at least once (sometimes more than once) every ten days, another student or professor or researcher posts a survey for some reason or other, and (concerning the questions) they all are nearly identical and nearly all way too vague.

1) Do you Play Second Life?

Lately I've been logging on to Second Job in the evenings. But the OI will be done soon.

From: Colette Meiji
1b) Why?

I don't like people in person.
It is more interesting than TV (except for Doctor Who).
Real Life has even worse customer service than Linden Lab.

From: Colette Meiji
2) Do you Like the Second Life Forums?

Yes.

From: Colette Meiji
2b) Why?

Because every day is Friday.

From: Colette Meiji
3) Do you have a Second Life Business?

Yes--CMD Gallery of Public Domain Art & Maps in Deimos. Also home of the CMD Builder's Grid! Stop by today!

From: Colette Meiji
3b) Why?

So I can spend money on NCI.

From: Colette Meiji
4)Have you ever cybered a Linden?

They are allowed to do that? But... it's not PG!

From: Colette Meiji
4b) Why?

The thrill of the forbidden? Don't ask me.

From: Colette Meiji
4c) Did they give you cool stuff?

I'm not a prostitute! At least not at what someone on a LL salary could afford.

From: Colette Meiji
4d) Did they give you FIC?

Only Prokofy can make you FIC.
