Nope, they type OMGZ all the time...it's only certain people, and not that often, but I always wondered.

I dunno then...'GMO' (OMG backward) has gotten to be popular with a lot of the people I know, though, so it could just be random fiddling with the more standard shorthand.

What does "Ruth" or being "Ruthed" mean?

Ruth is the default av...sometimes lag and other factors will cause your av to revert to her, no matter your apparent gender.

This is one I know! It happened to me. I teleported and when I arrived I was a short, gnome-like woman. Hideous. I guess that's Ruth.

Someone asked me where I was born. I didn't know, but I guess it means what region I appeared in first after leaving help island. I didn't keep track and I've changed my home setting several times. Is there any way of figuring out where I was born?

If you look in your inventory landmarks folder and sort it by date, your very first landmark should be the infohub you were first sent to.

Oh, I'm familiar with that one, too. I've done phone support...

I've had two accounts born at Welcome Areas, but neither received a landmark from it.

What's an alt? Is it when you have more than one SL account? In another thread, a business owner complained about too many alts. Can you sign on with more than one account at the same time without having multiple computers?

An alt is another account run by the same person.

There are ways to open multiple sessions on SL, but I don't know them (look through this forum, though, as there is at least one thread about it recently). I expect you would need a fairly powerful computer to do this.

Why would business owners complain about too many alts? The only reason I can think of is if that business owner has put out camping pads -- things avatar can sit on and get paid by the business owner, which increases the traffic number for the business, making it rank higher in searches. Most business owners who have camping pads just do it for the traffic, so they don't care who is camping and taking their money, alts or not.

But others seem to think that campers should share the bounty with others who need money, and they hope this money will be spent at the business. In this case, having 15 alts from one person holding the camping pads and draining money does not achieve the desired result.

Unfortunately, campers have no way of knowing what a business owner expects.
