No its up just you cant really do a whole lot. No rezzing, cant TP (at least I couldnt) only the usual junk that should have been addressed in previous updates instead of making things flashy and pretty. I got so sick of not being able to do ANYTHING that I just logged off.

Even if you get in, it's a mess...they need to just reset the grid and get on with it...

From the blog, updated roughly an hour ago: "Grid issues recurred Monday, February 12th, 2007 at 7:15 AM PST by: micklinden [UPDATE 10:13am PST] We are still hammering away! Unfortunately we currently have no further information however please continue to refrain from moving items to/from your inventory. We will keep you updated. -Jean" |

Wow, this has been going on since at least midnight last night and it's still not fixed??
Are they really this incompetent...and is there a number to call for some kind of customer service, since it's nearly impossible to reach them online or thru the website. Thanks. |

If you do manage to get in, nothing works. You can walk around, but forget about accessing your directory, your cash is L$0, your clothes are messed up, etc... But don't worry, you're not missing much as there doesn't seem to be anybody around.
Hopefully this gets fixed soon as I was in the middle of trying to get business dealings done when all this started yesterday. |

No, you have avoid sneezing while logging in. And your mouth has to be set in a certain way, too. Geeze, don't ask me how it needs to be set, I haven't figured that out yet! _____________________

Have you ever had to deal with DBs that are terabytes in size? Tried to run a network of over 5000 servers? I'm rather surprised that they have not taken the grid down for this. While it does, occasionally, say the grid is down for maint on the status page, a significant number of residents are still in world possibly exaserbating the problem. I'm thinking (Like Lindenlabs even reads these) that a forced logout and a Please standby while we bang on things Screen is in order.

Dealt with 20,000 users all at the same time trying to access these databases and network of servers? No, as a matter of fact, I haven't. But its not unique - as a particularly relevant example, eBay does it day in and day out with exemplary reliability. And its important, because an increasing number of people depend on eBay for their income and livelihood. Linden Labs is trying to get people to do the same thing here in SL - build businesses. If they intend to continue to grow that type of business model, as eBay has, then they need to get the proper talent and resources in place to avoid outages (or semi-outages that make the world all but unusable) that last for hours on end as this one has done since yesterday evening. On the other hand, if all they want to be is a big "game" then no big deal. This "event" and others like it will certainly contribute to whether or not many choose to establish or continue to grow businesses within SL. |

Couldn't get in last night, can't get in today... couldn't access a lot of my inventory for the brief time I was in last night. If we're going to be shut out, they might as well go all the way: just log everybody off and keep the grid down until something significant is accomplished and things are running smoothly again. I'd be willing to wait for that, it'd be better than spending another evening trying to log in. _____________________

The worst part is, when you try to log in it indicates that the grid is online - what a tease!!
Why is it only the status page indicates the grid is offline, while the blog indicates they are merely working on the issue? Is it offline or not? And if it isn't, why cant I log in when over 24k other users are? |

Is it offline or not? And if it isn't, why cant I log in when over 24k other users are? I'm starting to think it's like one of those clubs where they have a velvet rope outside, and a bouncer who chooses who gets to go in. Everybody else has to just stand outside waiting, hoping to get picked next time. And if you do get to go in, the place is so crowded you can't move! See, is that an appropriate metaphor or what? ![]() _____________________

if they need help hitting things with hammers, I'm free, especially since it's my day off. It's not like I'm going to do anything like log on real soon, apparently

I'm just irritated cause I had a hot date that I obviously missed. *grin Seriously, it would be nice if the status page, log in page, blog and home page would relay the same information. |

Can anyone that can get in world please inform us (those who can't) of the current performance of the grid? It might make us all feel better. Don't worry.....the bouncer wont let you in the club? .....I don't think there's much going on in the club right now anyways.

Are they really this incompetent... On what basis do you level the charge that they are incompetent? What is your basis for comparison? Another MMORPG with 20000 concurrent users all on the same network with no userbase divisions or instanced zones? I take it there better team of programmers? How have you determined this standard for competency? |
