Friend got me into the game. He said he is getting 500L. I signed up and get 300L. Wow, I can buy a shirt now (sarcasm).

Just my customer feedback. Like it or not. Send it up the ladder to management.

Torley Linden:
I closed this post, it's not appropriate for Resident Answers. Lindens don't really read the forums, we're busy doing many other things — support issues should be emailed to support@secondlife.com

As noted, we clearly state that weekly stipends are L$300. This has changed from an earlier, grandfathered amount. If you see any mentions of of L$500 stipends for new Premium accounts on the website, please email me... torley at lindenlab dot com to apologize and get them changed. :)

I didn't say quiting. I said canceling Premium. So I'll become another leecher like the other free accounts. Leeching disk space, bandwidth etc.

This is the difference between 500L and 300L per week.
200L about 1USD per week
10400L about 52USD per year

So ya, to me that is a big deal and it's not fair to new players.

It took you 3 months to figure this out? And did you not read tht? I'm sorry, I just see the point over .76 cents. I would actually hope there was a better reason to quit then that.

Check your math. 200L is about $1.05 now and it adds up over time. If anything, they should be giving us 1000L per week, not 300L. I haven't been around for 3 months.

I know, you're probably so rich in game that 200L means nothing to you, but it does mean a lot to noobs. Why do you think people sit on camping chairs to earn 2L for 10 minutes?

It's $1.05 if you BUY 200 lindens. Since you are talking about lindens you would get in world, they are only worth 70 cents.

I think this is a better reason to become a freeloader again: The performance issues.

I would gladly give up all my stipend to have a game that is playable again.

Get the annual membership at $72 U.S. With that you get is L$15600 over a year, which you can sell for $55. That means you get first land with 512m tier for a year for a scant $17 U.S. -- pocket change. For almost two years I ran a small but profitable enterprise on 512m of land, and when I upgraded to 1024m the cost still fell way below a private island rental (no private rentals will pay you a stipend). While I agree that Linden Labs might provide more with Premium membership, the fact is that it is a reasonable deal, although you should opt for annual, not monthly, membership.

There are plenty of ways to make the difference between the 300L you receive and the 500L your friend receives. Look into jobs such as designing clothing, becoming a landlord, land speculator, script designer, etc...

They get 500L because they started playing before you. Sure you can whine. I can whine too -- I also get 300L. It works the same way oftentimes in real life. I paid 120USD for my Google stock and if you wanted Google stock today it would cost you roughly 460USD for a single stock... Look at Apple, Microsoft, Walmart, etc. Those are even more extreme. If I would have put money in Walmart 20+ years ago, I'd be a very rich man... Now, I don't refuse to shop at Walmart, purchase Apple products (or Microsoft) because of this. I accept that somebody was 'on the ball' before I was. Somebody took the risk of investing in these companies when they weren't as well known. Just like some people chose to invest in premium memberships in SL back when it wasn't in the news daily.

Look at the LindeX... SL would go bankrupt in a hurry if they gave everyone 500L weekly for their premium membership. They actually LOSE money if you sign up for a year ($6/month) and you collect 500L weekly... If anything, have respect for LL for deciding to honor the 500L they promised earlier members when they signed up. They could just have easily sent each of them an email saying they can't afford to give them over 300L either. Would that make you happy? It certainly wouldn't benefit you in anyway. Even at 300L... Think about it -- 1200L/month; roughly 4.50USD and you only pay 6USD for the month. How many online games can you play for 1.50USD/month? If you buy a piece of first land and resell it, you can practically play for a year for free.

Members who went premium prior to July 2006 still recieve the $500L a week stipend. The amount was lowered after that to $400L a week and then $300 a week. This was done to reduce the amount of Lindens being pumped into the economy and prevent huge price increases in goods and services (inflation.) So, those you joined at the right time still get the $500, but by the same token, there were no free accounts back then, so you lose on one side while winning on the other.

On the other hand, Resident Answers is not a forum for "Customer Feedback".

I just saw other stipend posts in here, so that's why I did it. At this point, like many others, I will speak with my wallet. I already sent a message to customer service about my dissatisfaction.

I am one of those 500l users. Very soon LLabs will be stopping weekly pay for new full accounts in the coming year I bet. Just like rating bonus, dwelling bonus. Weely pay too will be a thing of the past.

A premium membership is all about one thing: Land Ownership

If L$'s are your priority... buy them instead. :)

This is not a valid reason for downgrading.

If you want 300L a month spending money, buy it a-la-carte for $1.43 USD a month. That is < 1/3 the cost of the premium membership, even when considering the significant discounts enjoyed by opting for annual billing.
You can cancel, that is your choice... but think of a better reason or no reason at all.

Uh.. You know that both stipend payments doesn't even cover what you have to pay to get premium right, Julian? Either way, you end up paying more because you're premium..

Well thats why many of us did upgrade........ these days people just want something for nothing. How many time have i heard. There is no way i going to pay for this game. Now this makes you think why they are even here to start with. If it the free money? ( thats a total lie how is your computer powered.........By reoccuring free energy?

Money trees? money chairs/dance pads? These money giving devices at the end results in your electric bill( A higher bill )Unless your parents, unversity, jail ect are paying for.....There is no such thing as free money!

These free money chair/dance pads topic always reminds me of happening to me when i started to work as a young girl...
I was 22 years old out of university and i just stared my work. A high ranking working came up to me and ask, "hey lets go to lunch! they have a cake all you can eat sweets cake etc.........I said ok! YUMMY!:) but he did not tell me that i had to hotel, and we had to have a room to in this all you can eat sweet cake service when we were told to sign for the hotel room( he did not want sex did he  ). In this example that happened to me is the way those money chair/dance pad casions and locations around sl. The offer you money to stay on their land, but your paying the "REAL COST" not them for your dwelling on their land.........................

As for money trees? HAHHAHAH thats another joke! those chinese, korean, german and all the rest of them that ONLY PICK money trees ( protected non ver accounts ) too are using money or their monies on electric bill picking hours and hours on end..........
The reason for money trees at the start is to give a little money to them, and have then explore the sl world. But now!

Actually the old stipend base was cheaper than buying Lindens. I could care less about land.

Buy Lindens (based on 52 weeks)
1.43 52 300L 74.36
2.18 52 500L 113.36

Premium Stipend (annual payment)
52 300L $72.00
52 500L $72.00

There are many other factors that caused the end to high weekly pay and bonus, dwelling etc......

Stipend was never a direct reason to be premium anyway. That it is a reason to downgrade seems absurd. As was said before, premium is all about land ownership. If you didn't own land or want to, why bother?

I know it must feel terrible to get less than older members like me get. I was opposed to cutting these stipends. But I'm sure glad they kept them for those who had been getting them!

I don't believe the stipends were cut solely to reduce the amount of Lindens being pumped into the economy and prevent huge price increases in goods and services. And I never did believe that.

LL got into the business of selling money they print, through Lindex. Around the same time, they cut the stipends.

Why give money away when they can sell it? By cutting stipends, they could sell more of the money they print out of thin air on Lindex and thus make more money.

If you really want to go back, complain that there are no more lifetime accounts. They get 4096 of land and L$500 for no more payments!

Times change. There was a time not to long ago that the exchange rate was much higher then it is now. I think for a while the l$500 would not even get you your $72 back.
