yikes i am running out of prims and have not finished the town yet? i have used 12321 prims, and dont have many left, i need at least 1000 spare for the shop/apartment rentals and i have yet 2 build the rest of the graveyard, and 2 quite primmy barracades. Is there anyway on earth i can bump the prim limit up a little bit? i have submitted a support ticket asking if i can buy some more prims?

What would u do?

You can't buy more prims for a sim. What I would do is go round seeing if I can cut the prims on items around. Have you been using mega prims?, they can cut your usage a lot. Check the prims in items you have put down, can you remove some that aren't required or buy items with lower prims?

Yes you can buy more prims, but if you haven't got anywhere to put them I wouldn't bother

;)

Serious reply: no you can't. If I were you I would have a close look at your build and investigate whether some of the more high-prim items could not be reproduced using fewer prims or indeed be replicated by using different textures on a single prim.
Good luck!

You have used a heck of a lot of prims for something not finished yet. It seems you really do need to work on keeping prims low when you make the items. As I put in the previous post, have you been using mega prims for builds? even if it's only the 20 x 20 and 20 x 10 prims, the savings can all add up over a large build.

You need to save only 1000 prims for shops and apartments? Unless you aren't having many, that's not much left for the renters, especially for apartments unless they come fully furnished.

Oh dear, barstools can be just one prim...you could really free up some prims there and with good texturing, they won't look bad at all.

Did you use textured building fronts with built in windows? If you built all your windows with prims, you might want to replace them with textures that include the window and alpha glass.

Good luck, gee I'm impressed with people who do whole sims...I'm still trying to make a decent chair.

Yeesh! I never use more than 9 prims for a bar stool. And that is for a very nice looking stool that has 4 legs, 8 streacher rails, a two-prim seat, and a pose ball!

One prim for a bar stool? I suppose you could with a sculpty, but I doubt you could sit on it. Or you could do a simple one with alpha textures, but it wouldn't look that great.

The least I can imagine, using prims with no alpha textures and no sculpties, would be two prims. That would be for a pedestal-type bar stool, with a cushion on top. Three prims if you add a pose ball, for ease of adjusting the seat position to different users.

Oh yes they do. But some megaprims are safer than others. The 20x20x.5 megaprim seems pretty good and stable (even though you can't always rez stuff on them), and can make a platform/floor with 1/4 the number of prims as a 10x10x.5.

Hell, I have trouble rezzing stuff on a regular prim, let alone a mega! *grin*

OP, I was gonna add, but folks have pretty much covered it.

remember, more prims=more lag

the client has to render every face of every prim whether you can see it or not.

LOL!

At the other extreme: A one prim bar stool :-

Torus
Hollow 80
Twist B&E 180 180
Hole size 0.85 0.5
Profile Cut B&E 0.45 1
Rotation Y 270
Size - whatever

A second prim would make a cushion for RL extensionists.

Oh! And script the stool with a sit position plus whatever to save a prim for a separate poseball.

I'm a prim-miser.
I'm currently working on some houses with roof terraces.
I'm building using prims per logical visible module.
When I'm happy (as I have time for), I'll redo with larger prims so that a custom texture can serve on a single prim for the wall below and the terrace railing above.

It would be a lot easier for you to get your bar stools down to ....ooooooooooo...say 5 prims :)

There's a script for that. llSitPs<x,y,z>rot
IM me in-world for a copy.

Also, a tube with y-hole size .5 profile cut makes a good 1 prim stool

Please no y-hole comments

It's no big deal to create-away until you bump the limit if you're just playing around and expressing your artistic desire. But if you're trying to run a business, you really need to be working to a plan. Make a spreadsheet, list every category of things you need in the sim, and give yourself a prim "cap" for each one.

Even then you still get surprises, like your bar stool. I never bothered to check the radio I was using. I was about to buy 7 more of them to distribute around all the parcels, and discovered that it had 17 silly useless prim buttons on it even though it operates by voice command!

Yep. That was basicly what I had in mind, for a two or three prim stool.

Why would someone need three whole prims for a barstool?

Yeah even one prim for just a barstool is insanely profligate.

With one prim, you can have a barstool on an upper floor, and a light fitting on the ceiling of the room below :)

My fave barstool is a barstool on the upper floor, and a turned-off fan on the one below ^^ Or on if you want spinning people too...

Jeez, I hope you own this sim Chaos and you are not doing it for a client. Looks nice though for all it's prim whoriness :) (except the Guinness though. I'd send that back, it looks off)

[edit] it occurred to me that you could start setting parts of your sim as attachments and wear them if you didn't mind standing still so visitors could walk over/through/under you. :)
