What do LL think about Land bots?

Is it a reason for banning or not?
I think it is time for LL to tell "yes using land bots are allowed" or "stop using land bots".

You would have to ask LL.

Please no more landbot threads. Please? Pretty please?

I am not an alt, this is my first day at forums, i just saw a land bot bought a land and wondered if it is legal or not and posted to the forum. I didnt know there were previous threads about this topic.

Sorry about it.

Id like actual landbots to post so we can hear their side.

Not Land Bot runners.

The Land Bots themselves.

This is a violently debated topic. Evidently they are either legal in the TOS or any illegality is overlooked by LL. Yes LL is aware of their existance and the problems cuased.

Generally the threads end up in large scale forum brawls becuase on both sides there are people who stand to lose money depending on who the issue is decided.

Most of us on the forums, if the polls can be beleived,
Or at least most of us who vote on the forums polls would agree with your original question that - they surely dont seem like they should be allowed. And they are basically designed to be unfair.

For now though the Lindens only response has been to slow the speed you can search for land which has not impacted the bots any from what people that say they know inform us.

Resident's can guess what LL is thinking, but that's about it.

If a landbot is hindering/harming the SecondLife servers by flooding them with search queries or excessively high activity, then I'd say sure.

There are many questionable activities in SecondLife that LL remains silent on. When they perceive something to be a problem they'll take a stand on and say so, obviously. Clearly they do not think it's time to take a stand on this issue yet. :)

You could cut and paste this on half the threads here. One more meaningless "pole" and I'm going to barf.

Accidentally list a parcel for a very low price and I'm certain you'll be rather "intimately familiar" with a land bot in moments. ;) ;)

I think I got it figured out now - land bots are bots made out of land.

Accidentally list a parcel ..."intimately familiar"

I couldn't list a parcel without buying some land, and I'm not going to buy any land unless it's at a bargain price, and for some totally unfathomable reason, I can't find any find a single bargain in the land search. I wonder what could possibly explain this lack of land bargain deals?

Aren't the bots you get intimately familiar with called hookerbots?

Or maybe Stepford wives. ( or Stepford husbands. there's a sequel I'm glad didn't get made)

Yawn ...

The OP sought knowledge and knowledge is help. The OP is a resident and so are the people who replied to the thread. Ergo, this thread is about residents' help sensu lato even if we probably don't need another cookie-cutter landbot thread right now. If this forum consisted entirely of "How can I click on something I can't see?" // "Ctrl Alt T" // "Oh, thanks" it would be so boring no-one would read it, and there would be no-one here to answer those basic questions when they did arise.

yea they came along and improved the way land was listed way before you were in sl. And you know what, everything went fairly smoothly for a good while, mistakes were a fraction of what they were before they changed the land buy window. Land didnt start getting so dirty again until landbots came into the picture. Anyone who's been in land for the long haul has clearly seen this. LL fixed the land swooping problem, landbots came in and replaced them with a new similar problem. Hope LL fixes it again!

Sorry but people have had their land stolen because of user error and dishonest land sellers for a long time now. I found this nifty thread in the forum archives from 2004. /120/a4/25725/1.html
This is not a new issue and is not a bot issue so you can put the torches and pitchforks away now.

Yes and the way the land window used to be it was VERY easy for users to make errors. LL eventually made the effort to fix the land buy window so it wouldnt be quite so easy. They added the itemized breakdown where you enter price, the sell to option ect. They knew land swooping was a problem and caused alot of issues dispite the fact that it wasnt against the TOS. They added a fix. And yes things were alot smoother for a good while before bots. Yes there will always be errors adn dishonest people, but LL has the ability to keep this to a minimum.
