From: Broken Xeno There will always be other customers. There will always be someone who wants to buy or sell land. If it's not you, or your friend, or me, or anyone else here, it'll be someone else. LL are already having problems billing people, and many banks and cc company's already eye LL with suspicion. more people being taken by landbots = more complaints to banks and cc companies about LL. which brings us to: From: Broken Xeno Should people say "Well, it's okay... It was just a mistake, we'll let it go." No, I don't think so. Maybe when I was like ten, but truthfully no one learns from their mistakes if they think that everyone is just going to pat them on the head and say "It's alright. You just made a mistake." this goes for LL as well.

This is actually not a bad point. Just becuase LL thinks Landbots are legit doesnt mean people wont file disputes with their CC company.

From: Stylee Streeter WHY IS IT ALWAYS THE ONES THAT ARE STUPID ENOUGH TO SET THERE LAND FOR SALE TO ANYONE AT SILLY PRICES AND END UP LOOSING THEIR MONEY THAT TRY AND RUIN IT FOR EVERYONE ELSE. IF YOU DONT LIKE THE GAME GO MAKE YOUR OWN ONE ! Hmm, make a mistake and your're STUPID, we are all STUPID then, including you unless you have never made a mistake? You're certainly loudmouth and over aggro, can't converse without shouting at people, I'd rather stay stupid. Selling land without being an expert apparently labels you as stupid. Anyone buying anything in SL before they have the skills to make themselves, also stupidity?

From: Ingrid Ingersoll Second Life isn't real life, it's supposed to be entertaining and fun, that's what people pay for. When people feel ripped off, it's no longer any fun and they bail. It becomes real life when you allow people to play for real money. I play poker online and believe me there is a big difference in the way people play on fun tables and cash tables

When people are buying land, do they really think hard about how much money it is? More so when they sell land, because they are being paid Lindens. The average user isn't exchanging these for real money afterwards, they are simply spending them, in-world.

Imagine this, your on "who wants to be a millionaire" you've answerd 14 questions correctly. The 15th comes up for $1,000,000:
Who was the first president of the united states?
A)Ronald Regan B)George Washington C)JFK D)George Wellington
you scream out "I know this its easy. Its D final answer".
Do you think you would get the $1,000,000? I dont, even though i know you knew the right answer. Because you did not read all the infomation and double check, you just jumped in because you thought it was easy. Not only noobs will get caught people get complacent so maybe there should be a popup reminding of people and bots who will punish their silly mistakes.

The average user isn't exchanging these for real money afterwards, they are simply spending them, in-world. maybe the average person isn't, buying and selling land may be just how they fund their Second Life. But a lot of the people in question most likely are cashing out, they are in it for the money. Some are ethical and will allow for the mistake, but some know full well what's happening, and won't. There has to be some medium where rsidents are REASONABLY protected while not hindering the Free Market. Escrow maybe. The System is broke, it needs to be fixed.

From: Kaklick Martin The only truly workable solution to the main problem is to institute escrow, which has been described in several posts here, just not using that name. As in RL real estate, there is a period between initial offer acceptance and the actual sale being completed, with all sorts of legal ducks getting put in rows. In RL you do not just instantly buy a piece of real property and it probably shouldn't happen that way here either.
1. Person puts land up for sale a. to anyone b. to individual - who can take it immediately, since this is obviously intentional.
2. IF to anyone the "sale" triggers a permission dialog to the seller re-confirming the price, saying something like:
"eViL Landbot has agreed to purchase your 512sm parcel at 21,24,0 Simville for the sum of L$1 which is L$0 / SM - Do you wish to proceed?"
possibly with an option to auto-accept escrows while offline or busy in prefs.
There might also be some sort of email gateway and a default 24 hour accept, if not online during that time.
The money and the land would not actually transfer from one resi to another until the escrow had cleared, so it's not like someone would have their purchase ripped out from under them after say building, and there could be no re-sale until escrow was complete. By the way, I've posted this as an issue on Jira, so if you'd like to comment on or vote for this issue, see: https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-363
