From: Warda Kawabata In order to complete each sim, you have to defeat the end of level guardian. They can be easily identified by the surname "linden" in their title. Thanks! I haven't laughed that hard about something in SL in weeks. Would LOVE to see Lindens getting attacked with griefing weapons <j/k, of course>

From: Har Fairweather For one thing, things get a LOT steamier than the female night elf dance lol, I don't know about the Nelfs, but a lot of the female Belfs seem to take off their clothes every time they hit a city and dance around like Beyonce...I suspect they're all actually guys.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

well if your looking for levels you wont find any its a do what the heck you feel like type game so if you have never seen one of those and have only ever experienced something very structured like WoW your gonna have problems understanding it. Also its not really a game its a "thingy" it can be a game if you look for pvp areas and RP areas but outside those areas it can be other stuff like a business or a place to learn things (many university campuses as well). If you really want to get into understanding this thingy you can search for the various politicians who have set up "office" in SL. I am half temped just for effect to chain myself to a tree or something outside one of these builds just because it would be fun (yes I have a starnge sense of fun). I have been called a hippy loving tree hugger at times so I thought I would chain myself to some politicians tree see what happens Also warning we are nuts .. yes many will protest agains this here last line but I would say that collectively as a "player base" nuts fits in there quite well. You can go to various of our "habitats" and find us playing with cubes and spheres. Those would be prims but to the outsideer we are likely playing a very bad video game. In any event this post was made after eating too much sugar so please ignore it if you can ^^

From: Har Fairweather I played WoW, and still maintain my account there, though I hardly even visit any more, and then just to say hello to old friends. The difference is, WoW is a game, and a great game. SL is a world. Do what you want with it. But first, find out what is in it. For one thing, things get a LOT steamier than the female night elf dance, assuming that is your thing, as how could it not be, and hoping you are the same,
Emigrant from Alleria server To imply that there is anything steamy in SL is broadly offensive. I am gonna AR you.

From: Wilhelm Neumann I remember walking through one and driving through another. If there is a nice little sappling around let me know they are easier to get my arms around Some coastal redwoods are that big, but usually the drive-through ones are the giant sequoias up in the Sierras (shorter than coastals, but much larger around). In my neck of the woods (hehe) most are perfect hug size. I suddenly have the urge to make big sculpty redwoods!

From: Ordinal Malaprop Stop trying to confuse the poor chap. Everyone knows you can level in SL by defeating Lindens. The tough part is getting Torley, as she can summon guardians with max HP with the "Group IM" power. Torley was really no problem for me, since I defeated Philip months before Torley appeared. It helps to have the Boots of Ass-Kicking.

To me SL is alot like "The World" in .Hack, only very little is created by LL, most of it was created by the current residents. The goal(s) of SL like "The World" are what you make for yourself. Consider things you like to do, maybe things you like to do IRL but can't, or try and take your Av in a totally different direction than your RL entirely. For myself as an example, it's a way to get out and socialize in a general context. It's a way for me to break out of my shell and, as sad as it is, get comfortable flirting with the ladies. This is something I have not mastered IRL yet, and was even uncomfortable with online at first. Most generally it is a way to better my RL self when I do not have the funds to go places where I can meet people or in ways I would be too uncomfortable with at first. Other goals are rapped up SL specific projects. I am currently developing my SL propperty and home. I am also a BattleTech lover and am working on a Clan Elemental set including Shape, Cloths, and their mighty Toad battle armor suit, even eventually "Cyber Implant" tattoos and maybe even an Enhanced Imaging combat hud to go with it. Maybe see if there is a "cult" market for it. I know the BattleTech universe is generally obscure and even people that have played the Mechwarrior PC and console games don't realize there is much more to it than that. In the end SL has a totaly open ended goal. Your first goal is simply getting aquainted with moving around SL, after that your goals are competely up to you.

For fun I have my Chocobo to explore the ground, or if I feel like getting air born I have a VTOL jet I am now learning to fly and land. Taking off is easy, flying is not extremely hard, but landing it on a 10 x 10 platform on the roof of my home is quite the chalange, it takes me about half an hour. LOL
Oh and if I get pissed off IRL, I go The Pier, talk it out with the great folks there, and if I still need to blow off aggression, fire off a mag or two from my Barret off the end of the pier. Harmlessly of course.

From: Ben Brown I'm trying to get a handle on what this game is all about... and failing. I play World of Warcraft and it's pretty obvious what I should do next with the quests and all. But when I log into Second Life for the first time, what should I do first? Where should I go? How does one know how to do anything? Ah, easily solved! Second Life is basically a big, massive Civilisation II game. You start out with one settler (you), and make alliances, treaties, &c. You gain skills and technologies as you go. The goal is to overtake the entire grid, no holds barred, before you die (although setting up a dynasty is okay, or botting your avatar - letting a computer play it forever - might do just as well. I'd recommend making some very strategic alliances early on, and not switching to Democracy too early. As always, watch your economy, it's critical. Nuking opposing regions are generally a bad idea too, but, up to you I guess. Your move, by the way. ^^

I'm put in mind of a gamer geek who's just been invited to a party and can't quite grasp the concept of what to do when people gather in one place without rolling dice and consulting rulebooks.

(this is why i make a very bad team mate in these group games .... that and tree hugging)

It's not a game - but DarkLife is. If you come to Navora sim, you can try out SL's version of World of Warcraft! Hehehe
