What more? A transfer not being let go through without that written 'authorization'. A simple hold on the transaction til it's all settled.

That is the responsible thing..........and control over the game. And protection to the users. It's not enough to say.............."hey, I told you". This is real money. It's fraud and the way SL is set up there is absolutely no way the victim can obtain the info on the cheat........without very lengthy and expensive legal procedings. Like I said..............this is not a way a ligitament, competant and totally honest business runs. I prefer to think of LL and simply incompetant.....but it may be more.

okay but a transfer was never done so this is the problem it looks like. It appears that no one followed procedure and honestly if your going to get an entire island you need to do some research as its serious money involved here.

I'm not defending what this guy/girl did but it looks like an entire system was circumvented by BOTH parties and I dont know how anyone can do anything about that. YOu can buy/sell land in this game or rent it and the official transfer didnt occur therefor it was a rental.

The fact that he had the land removed because he violated what appears to be a covenant means that he in fact never actualy bought the island and only thought he did. This is simple ignorance the only recourse would be to contact the parties involved and

a) try to get actual ownership of the island
b) try to get his money back

this does however look like it was a scam someone was renting the sim and wanted to make a lot of money so put it up for actual sale somehow although now that private and mainland land listings are seperated I'm not sure how he did this.

The only way to buy a private sim is to do directly to the actual owner of the sim not the guy using the land (ie: the land baron and do it properly using the land transfer method outlined) this guy was clearly renting the land and never actualy got ownership of it. He made a huge mistake my question is why on earth when lots of money is involved are people so flippant about it in this situtation?

lasty now when ver I buy land no matter where it is I always check to see if the covenant is filled in that is one way to find out who owns it be it LL or some private guy.

My partner and i and a friend bought all the property on an island and then bought the sim, the seller told us the sim is yours i wont mess with it anymore ( he had a few times taken ownership back and returned it to us claiming he had to fix things previously) . A matter of hours latter the person who sold it to us banned us took back the island making false claims we had violated the terms of the sale. We have been ripped off for thousands of dollars not to mention many hours of setting up a 1800's rp sim. It's a weekend and we cant seem to get any firm help and this guy will probable resale the land. there most be somthing that can be done now considering the amount of money and the urgency.

Please go to one of the third-party forums and list the island owner's name, and describe what happened in detail. We've seen a number of issues like this get resolved once the guilty party in question knows the details are public. Your post would also serve as a warning to others who might consider doing business with this individual.

I strongly recommend Second Citizen for all your 3rd-party forum needs.

How can there be "nothing" he can do?

If LL doesn't fix it, then Second Life is just going to end up the virtual world of crooks.

It already is.

I would be surprised if he gets the island back.
