There are a set of proposal balls in the Moonglow Ballroom - then when she says yes get a fireworks show (lots of people can do them) to blast into the sky in front of the balcony.

If you are sure she'll say yes make sure you invite all your friends to watch the display with you. Maybe arrange some sort of a party as a pretext so that there are a bunch of you there.

Pep (Or just arrange for a gang of male strippers to be there and rip off their tuxedos at the appropriate moment)

Hi WilliamW,

I'm new and don't really know the answer, but I wanted to say Congratulations!!!

I'm sure she'll be thrilled no matter how you ask, and I wish you both a lifetime of happiness. :)

Remember that this is a solemn occasion. Even in sl marriage is an institution.

Ew, no. Private is better.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

BY that token would you hold the wedding in secret as well?

I've seen a few proposal packages in my wanderings. From a simple 'on one knee' animation, to a whole scene complete with props and all.

I'd scout out a perfect spot, where you can still rez something. Say, a little-used beach area, or maybe one of the romantic gardens, or forests. Or even throw together a "secret garden" skybox...picnic blanket near a marble fountain in a forest clearing.

Then when you feel the time is right, say..."Oh! There's something I want to show you!", head there, set up, TP her in, and...surprise!

Proposals of marriage require two questions which *must* be asked. The first is:-

"Are you sure that you're filthy stinking rich?"

For the second question, play it by ear according to the reply.

Last time I tried that line I got slapped in the face.

I like the way Jerboa thinks...get the whole scene set up in advance.

Minor tip: Note the day cycle at whatever location you pick, and try to time it so that you arrive at the best time of day...sunset, or midnight, or whatever. Sure, you can set the time in the World menu, but it spoils the mood to tell her, "Hon, set your world to midnight, OK?"

Don't forget to snap a pic.

Most of these places probably don't allow rezzing, but they might at least serve as inspiration...and some of them might have the right poseballs around already:

- Castle Avilion grounds
- Secret Reflections
- The Lost Gardens of Apollo
- The rings of Saturn at the Spaceflight Museum
- Underwater gardens at...darn, I forget. But they're near the Firefly spaceship.
- The grounds at Straylight Botanical
- Svarga
- The Moonglow ballroom (this one DOES have a proposal pose set, or did at one time)
- My own Mount Olympus Club. We can hide the contest board and club stuff, and just leave you and your intended dancing among the stars.

Speaking of proposal animations...they're most commonly in poseballs, but there's no reason the animations couldn't be put into a couples animator gadget and let you pop the question anywhere. You might have to speak with the gadget sellers, depending on the permissions involved.

I'm a fan of elopement in RL. I've really never understood the point of making a big production...I don't find the notion romantic at all, especially since the promises you're making are about the two of you. As far as I'm concerned, bringing mom, dad, the 87 cousins, and Billy Bob down the street into it just dilutes that focus.

Ooooh! That's a good one! Especially if you use one of those gadgets already!

Sneak the proposal in there, and then you can pop the question at any time. That's even more surprise factor!

Oh Ann, you old curmudgeon!

Everyone know that you *have* to have a big wedding. The best way to start a life together is with a shared $20,000 debt! It shows a long term commitment to each other. :D

I'm inclined to agree actually.

Yep, that's what happened to me. All of a sudden he got down on one knee and WHAM! Here I'd been expecting some big production in a garden or a ballroom somewhere, and all of a suddenly, there he was, asking me. The pleasant shock of the moment is more memorable than the where.

Well, congratulations, first off... *grins*

When I "proposed" to my SL Partner, I chose a time when we were alone and cuddling, in the home that we were already sharing, on the one-year anniversary of our "becoming a couple" in SL. It was romantic for us, but we already had a very special relationship, and this was just making it 'formal'.

If you aren't already that close, I'd say find a romantic location to take her on a date, bring her some nice flowers, and ask her while watcing the sunset or sunrise together. If you ask at sunset, triggering a fireworks display after she says "Yes" would be cool...

Congratulations!

Some great advice in here as to selecting the location and such, and I'm digging the whole "surprise" vibe (even though, as you say, she is expecting it to some extent). I happen to have a proposal animation sequence "hidden" inside a romantic slow dance poseball, with a small HUD you wear to click on when it's time to pop the question. It's never been sold since I made it custom for a dear friend, but that was a year ago so I think it's time. ;) Shoot me an IM in SL and I'll gladly give you a copy to check out and use if you like.

Setting up animations in a couple's multi-animation doodad would be even more sneaky (great idea Lindal!), but in case that doesn't fit for you for some reason you're welcome to give my "special" dance ball a try.

Well im not sure could tell you what would be wonderful and amazing for her, butI can tell you how i proposed to give you some ideas :)

She ws DJing tht night and as always i helped pick the theme. I asked for a formal night that night (becuase I had plans hehehe). I had some help from another friend and recorded two sound bits of me. The firt requesting that she play a particular song for me becuase it reminded me of the day i fell in love with her (that was the first time i ever requsted a song for her) and i asked her to play the song i requested again.

then i recorded a sound bite of my propoal. It said everything I wantedto say. Myfriend then took both sound bites and added a song to the beginning of the first and to the end of the second.

She then chatted to my partner and said that her and her partner had an anniversary and if she sent her somesongs would she mind playing them on stream. Rondo of course agreed. Rondo was told to play them in a particular order and just assumed they were songs and put them on the stream.

She freaked out when she heard my voice on her stream. She was completely suprised and touched that I had went to that much effort. It ws really lovely. I had a ring already picked out for her etc

He he. How appropriate. You've always been on the line between making me laugh out loud, and slapping you in the face.
