Wagering Ban, what does it mean for sex?

It's not illegal to pay for phone or cyber sex in the United States, it is for real life prositution though unless in Nevada.

Prositution in Second Life will not be banned, because it's not even Prositution, it's Money for Text messages.

I continue to be amazed by this attitude that something has to be illegal before LL can or will ban it.

Some people have an odd definition of "pervert". Personally, I never use words like "pervert" or "weird", since they suggest a norm that everyone has to fit in. In places with strict norms, women tend to be dressed like this: . Not exactly sassy & sensuous.

My guess?

One day in the not so distant future some "journalist" will do a story on the "sex-slave" trade in SL, targeting the Gors specifically but of course taking anyone with a collar along with them, and suddenly you will see notecards and policy changes expressly forbidding the buying and selling of "sex-slaves". It wont matter that these "slaves" participate of thier own free-will, the "journalist" will magically find the underage "slave" and BAM!! no more collars.

Gor definitely is a likely target for the next Media sweeps week report.

I can't see it going that far, even Robin Linden says there's a place for sex. I just think that place will not be in some of the places where it is now.

Of course there will. Or "would" I should say, since I seriously doubt it will ever be banned.

Seriously - I think any suggestion of limiting sexual activity is gonna create a underworld economy that Linden is trying to prevent. Besides I freely admit here that I have a partner in SL who is MOST satisfying. Sex is NOT a bad thing contrary to many people's opinions and if some "get their rocks off" in cyber sex then so be it. I think many people see masturbation as darkly sinning. BUT guys, women masturbate too and women (I am proud to say) use their minds much more than men might suspect. SO SL is COOL (or hot as case may be).
BUT having been around a bit, cyber sex is safe, generally literate, and visually fun. No one ever got AIDS, Hepatitis, Gono, Sif, herpes etc having cyber sex

Because it's almost true, as to the question of will they ban it. The wagering policy, like the ageplay policy, was instituted to protect Linden Labs, both from being the targets of criminal prosecutions, but also from having to cooperate with criminal prosecutions of its users. (Complying with subpoenas costs money and paying lawyers costs money.)

Of course, Linden Labs can ban anything for any or no reason. However, they didn't ban wagering until the FBI started investigating gambling in Second Life.

These are not the policies of morality police. These are the policies of a rational company trying to protect itself. If not for the threat of criminal prosecution, I'm sure Linden Labs would be happy to continue to rake in the jack that comes with the gambling economy. It may be that Linden Labs fully supports everyone's right to gamble, but just declines to spend their money and time protecting everyone else's right to gamble.

And, by the way, anyone (in the United States) who thinks that the ageplay and gambling policies are unfair shouldn't be looking at Linden Labs. They should be looking at their representatives in Congress.

Just be sure not to have sex on the SL toilet seats... (shudders)
