I've been getting the login failed since around 10:00pm pst last night. I haven't had any successful log ins since.

Glad that I'm not the only one...but this stuff is maddening!!

I remember this problem from a few months back. Back then the problem was caused by SL not logging people out properly when they exit the client. Usually your supposed to see a progress bar going backwards before the client fully exits, but it wasn't doing that. However not witnessing the current issue i wouldn't know for sure if that would be it.

In that case..what if you crash?

Wouldn't that cause a failed log out?

I was experiencing some problems with the grid on Sunday. I was having problems uploading a sound and items were very slow to come and go from my inventory. This morning I was at a club with some friends and one of us were unable to teleport anywhere. Then we realized none of us could teleport anywhere, lol. I immediately checked the blog and tried to inform Help Request. My message seemed to disappear when I pressed enter, but based on the blog posts (Which they have been updating) they definitely know something is wrong and will be fixing it shortly....I hope. I logged out and cannot get in right now. I will do other things, continue to check the blog, and wait patiently.

Are people still getting this error or are things improving out there??

I think I read on the blog that trying to log on with an alt from the same puter and IM'ing your main can sometimes nudge you off, but who knows, worth a try .

I dont have an alt... and frankly would prefer to not have to get one to fix the issue...

Not knowing about you guys...i emailed the abuse manager and support thinking i'd done something wrong by accident. Hopefully this will get fixed soon...

At least you are in SL!!! I've been trying....all be it unsuccessfully.....for 6 hours to get IN to SL.

Actually I can't do anything either... I can't log in... I can't log myself out. Looks like we're in the same boat and this has been going on since last night at 10:00PM.

SL is made up of a bunch of servers. The asset servers which we all know and love, login servers, the sims themselves, etc, etc, and these servers talk to each other. For example, when you log out, the sim sends a message to the login server and says "Gummi is logging out."

When LL starts having problems, these messages can get lost. Maybe it's that your client crashed and the sim hasn't noticed yet. Maybe the logout message from the sim didn't make it to the login server. Lots can go wrong.

The "you're still logging out" message means that the login server hasn't been told that you're gone. I'd guess that it's probably trying to talk to the last sim you were in to see if it should let you back in but for some reason, that sim either thinks you're still logged in or it's having problems talking to the login server. People who are being told that their avatars are still in the game are likely running into this, too - the sim thinks you're sitll there.

So, short answer: LL is having some nasty network problems. I usually crash once or twice a day and see this message all the time - it just means that parts of the system think you're still in-world.

Phone Linden labs in San Fran and ask to speak to someone about making a complaint.

I just did (from the UK) and spoke to a really helpful HUMAN BEING who gave me his direct line to get back to him if I am still having problems when the system is supposed to be back and ok via the blog.

You are a consumer/customer - exercise your customer rights...

My issues at the moment has more to do with the following than the fact that I can't get into SL.

No one from support has responded to any of my email inquiries

and that the easiest fix for being stuck would be to reset the server but no one has bothered which makes the current grid status "online" particularly annoying.

OK, I been suffering this problem since yesterday. Linden blog said that the grid was "feeling better" after the major problems of late last night/early morning (London time) but performance was still very laggy. I tried for 3hrs early this morning to log on. I was sometimes successful but frequently crashed out when attempting to do anything. For 4 hrs there was no announcement of a problem on the Grid status blog till just past 7am PST even though the forums were filling up with "wtf is going on posts" and people had been firing off help requests. It is now 8 hrs since the re-occurrence of last night's problems started if indeed it is a re-occurrence and not a continuation. In all that time LL have not given us one explanation/reason of what is causing this. We can guess that it's probably an asset based problem but it worries me that LL have not given a reason for the failure. Could it be that LL have no idea what is causing it to go wrong or no idea how to fix it? If they shared the problem maybe someone out here might have a solution or a work around for them. This continual "we're still working on it" is not filling me with any confidence until I know the exact nature of the problem.

Hey I'm in. woohoo. BUT: no money, no friends list, no inventory, body, no nuthin.

A completely unsubstantiated observation, but it seems to me like the recent class 5 sims are the ones causing log-off problems. I've been sticking to the more established, older sims and even relogging is succeeding, but when I sent my alt to a newer sim it couldn't tp anymore all of a sudden and now it's stuck not able to log back on either..

Maybe there is something to the thing posted about it being Class 5?

I teleported to a new sim this morning, got logged out, and have not been able to get back into SL all day - it says the system is logging me out. My friends can get on, and say that my status is "Online" and they can even map me to the sim I crashed in - but of course I am not there.

No idea what to do now but wait and hope LL solves this
