I guess the OP (oh so long ago) didn't stop to realize that anyone, examined closely enough, is deviant... here or elsewhere. it's just safer to express deviation virtually, because of the lower social repercussions.

We like to think of deviance as being an art form.

I am told ferrets live in the trousers of the people in the north of England, that sounds pretty deviant to me Food's tight in the north of England, so it's a good thing the trousers are loose. Pep (I'm talking on behalf of the ferret) _____________________

Why do people get so shocked and upset when meeting people who lie, cheat, steal etc. on SL? Have they forgotten that that nice looking Avatar is controlled by a RL person, and since there are liars, cheats and thieves in RL, how can one really expect there not to be in SL???

Have they forgotten that that nice looking Avatar is controlled by a RL person, and since there are liars, cheats and thieves in RL, how can one really expect there not to be in SL??? Oh, probably because a goodly number of them are looking, hoping for a reason to be shocked and upset and another equal number have some pet peeve they are looking to attach to a convenient incident to go run and post to a forum. And then all those goodly numbers of people that are looking to hang THEIR pet peeve off of a convenient thread, regardless of how well it actually fits, jump in. This isn't people investigating problems in SL; its thread surfing, where you can actually make your own wave if you are good enough. Your comment reminds me of something that has always been bothering me. Thread drift... (Not really. Thread drift is what keeps most of these alive.) |

I have a fairly decent number of folks on my contact list who will testify that you have described my ava to a TEE. Thank you! ![]() /me buys Elora an expensive cocktail and offers her a ride in his Lamby /me accepts. Puts on her very low-cut, nearly backless black gown and saunters over to the car ready for a particularly deviant night out with Ghosty ![]() zomg, it worked *hides the leather fanny paddle under the seat* Wow this thread makes me misty eyed. This is where Ghosty and I met and now here it is New Year's Eve, 6 months later and we're living together in Real Life. ZOMG indeed! _____________________

There is a new German virtual world (I won't mention its name because that might be seen as advertising). It's in Beta stage at the moment. Its graphics look about comparable to SL, but there's a big difference. Your avatar represents your real self, using your own first name, and made to look like your real self (using facial photo as texture). Also, all the locations in this virtual world are replicas of RL places, starting with Berlin.
Second Life, unlike this other metaverse, never places any expectation on residents to either be like their RLs or to be different from them. You can be who you like. As long as one doesn't try to cheat people or play emotional manipulation games with people, I don't see a problem at all. _____________________

Well, nobody has to tell you the truth about themselves in Second Life really. You're very lucky and blessed to have found someone here for RL, but now that it's out of the way, just enjoy SL. It's always what you make it, and it's a big place where you can leave the deviants to their deviousness and you can do whatever isn't to you.
I don't live far from a brothel on Mainland. I'm oblivious to what they're doing and they're no doubt oblivious to my goings on, if not confused by it. _____________________

I am not a vampire in real life. Also, my name is not Sinitta Sciavo. I am so glad that I got this off my chest.
But seriously: I do not expect people being especially honest in SL, I also do not expect much from people in general. And there is always the "QUIT" -button. |

I visited a sim recently that sent out a notecard as you entered that they are attempting to get away from all the SL sexuality and when you are on their sim, you agree to these PG rules and/or are report those engaging in sexual behaviors which YOU AGREE are not appropriate for this sim. Please sign this notecard that you will help keep this sim an appropriate PG sim for all. (Paraphrased notecard, but that was the jist of what it said.)
I'd expect some PG sims like this will pop up here and there with more of these "rules" written out as each land owner has the right to make their own rules, especially if they are a rated PG sim. So, if you like the non-mature sims - you can find them or build your own (though this is not to say all mature rated sims actually have anything sexual because some rated mature do not.) However, it's just best to respect the rules of each sim as a general rule for SL whether no overt sexuality because we strive to stay PG, no weapons, no child avatars... whatever. _____________________
