For my participation in the forums.

I hope there is a general discussion area. If so, I'll stay. If not... little point.

Whew.. thank you for the clarification, though I am still scared having read your posts in other threads....

I agree, little point in adhering to this if there is no general discussion... One doesn't adhere for the other bits

A general discussion area is 'make or break' for me.

We shall see.
Just in case I never see Des again...

LL: blah blah "after listening to feedback" blah blah "update" blah blah "improvement" blah blah "scalability" blah blah
Residents: You keep using those words. We do not think they mean what you think they mean.

DAMMIT! I was SOOOO going to do that in a reply, but I figured I should finish reading the thread first to make sure I wasn't ninja'ed. :(

That, or "I take exception with the abhorrent misuse of the word 'upgrade' in this context".

Another piece of how well they listen to the residents...

You will not see me at the new forums, which will please some people, hopefully not all. Many faces I saw already appear ar SC2, the forum I will be in the future. Still, I will miss this place. So much good came from it.

And the word upgrading alone... doesn't that mean provide it with the latest release of vBulletin? Since when does it mean replace it by some disfunctional piece of crap software? The so called upgrade was a disaster for the XStreet forums, and will be a disaster for this one. Nevertheless, expect the message from the Lab in a few months, about how succesful the transition was.

Hell, I do love Second Life, and I am grateful to LL as they provide us with this environment. And I am convinced that the platform as it is, will grow and stay number one. And I am even aware of the fact that the opinion of a few thousand residents cannot influence the business decisions for a company like LL. But would it have been so hard to really upgrade this forum, as a way to thank the people that did so much good in answering questions to people?

Nah... I wish you all well.

Marcel

huh upgrade? more like downgrade.
More signs that LL does not listen, but then again they never have.

Funny. I never knew "Upgrading" was a synonym for "Castrating".

these sum up my feelings very well... I know many here are about the general discussion, I even participate... but things like scripting tips? it's not even a matter of not being allowed.. it just can't be reasonably done in the current context...

to those whose voices are being cut short, whether by artificial limits, or lack of technical means... farewell to these ports and good luck to you all.
