This is a followup to the "just an idea" thread, and now we are ready to start!
It's a very casual chance for us to go popping around and see what everyone's been up to, as well as a chance to meet some of the people in-world we see in the forums.
It's not a contest, so don't be shy if you don't live in a custom designed palace. "Works in Progress" are fine, too! It's ok if you want to use your bachelor apartment, your home, your commercial business, your hobby site -- anything at all as long as it is YOURS!
For the week, take down any public security walls and let fellow forumers come poke through your place and see whatcha been up to. If you are not home at the time, we'll just clomp around and look at your stuff, and/or try to make a return visit later. (You are not committing to stay home to greet guests, and some guests might even be shy and like to come snoop when nobody's home anyway!)
*** Please DO include a SLURL and a very brief description, not long so we can get a series of urls people can hop around easily.
*** Please be kind and DO include a mention if there is any content someone else might find offensive, just a short notation so nobody comes popping into something they were not expecting. Let us know in advance if you live in a nudist colony, Wicca Coven, Catholic Nunnery etc. Or you can just rate your area as "PG", "Mature", "Very Very Adult" etc.
*** IF YOUR NOT SURE HOW TO MAKE A SLURL: Log in and choose the place you prefer people to teleport in at. Go to the Menubar at the top of the screen and select World: Create Landmak Here. On the little popup Teleport/Show On Map, select "Show on Map". From the map, select at the very bottom right, Copy SLURL To Clipboard. You should get a popup confirmation, that the Slurl has been copied to clipboard. Now just come back here, start a reply to this thread, and either mouseclick-right-paste, or from the browser menubar at top select EDIT/PASTE.
I will include mine right after this "Official" post, as an example.
________________________________________________________
THE WEEK OFFICIALLY STARTS SUNDAY AUGUST 5 and runs through Saturday August 11, so hold off any visits till then, this is just to give everyone a chance to list their places before the week starts (and feel free to add yours even mid-week -- Never Too Late to join in! ________________________________________________________
Also, *please don't include any commentary* once the week starts, so other people's entries don't get buried in the chatter. On Sunday I might start a second "Open House Chatter and Feedback Thread" for people if they want to make any comments about the places they visit.

My Place:
08-02-2007 20:49
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Columbia/219/67/22This is my personal residence that I built myself. I'm a beginner builder so some stuff might still be a little nooby. But hey, it's mine! I also have up some wall art from some of Torley's wonderful inworld photographs. It's all PG, please drop on in and come see me! Feel free also to try out my mini-set of Robbie Dingo elven drums! ^_^

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Svarvarsson/136/143/55/My little jewelry shop =) It doesn't have many pieces yet (in fact I haven't even opened it to search/classifieds- I'm waiting to finish up another 2 pieces and package up some more color variations) but it does have a "just opened" gift necklace to the right of the door as you come in. Ignore the "limited" portion of the sign though, I gave up on trying to make the permissions behave right so it's there for as many as would like. Content is absolutely PG, although there's a couple of ad farm spinners in the area that are more PG-13. Quiet neighborhood, I love it here =) You're also free to look across the "street" (aka "protected" strip of green) at my workshop, but it's at 300m and pretty boring.

my First REAL Mainland sim
08-02-2007 21:42
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Gyala/247/47/49This is my home and Third Mainland sim. After seeing what happened to the other two sims after I sold them, I decided to keep this sim and rent it out. I keep it nice and I only hope it’s a great place to live for the residents, for all the work it takes for me to keep everyone happy, and I really try my best, it’s worth it - it makes SL worth my time. Any and all profits from my prior land dealings have gone to try and made at least one sim on the mainland nice. I have been fortunate that the surrounding sims are not too bad either and I am constantly working with my neighboring sim owners to compromise and help keep it a nice area. Except for one add cutter it has been very rewarding. So don’t give up on mainland, there are people who care enough to keep it intact. This is not a shameless ad, it’s me sharing my passion for the mainland. I can only hope others will join me and help make the mainland a nice place again.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Choa%20Nu/3/20/32My Japanese Boutique with kimono, zori, and fans. It in a mature sim but the worst you will ever see on my land is a new person that doesn't know how to get dressed yet. We are located next to a linden beach so check out the sunset.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vine/12/44/113 My House. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vine/159/51/113 My Garage. I have unset my landing point and am providing SLURLs for my land. The first is for my personal residence. It is nothing special in its self, just your standard Aces prefab with an elevator added up the out side, to catwalks and two Heli/VTAL pads on the roof. Much of the furniture is freebies though I have bought a few things here and there. The only room I could see anyone being remotely offended by would be my armory though sparsely stocked, this is on the third floor between the pseudo-japanese tea room and my sparse office at the opposite end of the hall, so if you are offended by arms that is a room to avoid. The second is my garage. It is my first from scratch structure build nestled between two shops along the road in the same sim. I only provided a second SLURL because the properties are on opposite sided of the sim, though I do have a teleport set up from my personal residence to the inside of the garage. Nothing special is inside, just one car and maybe parts to a particularly ambitious vehicle build I plan to work on, though at the moment I am stalled till I can figure out how to make a working pose. Personally I think the structure is more impressive from the outside, so feel free to walk and fly around it. If you want to drop me a note feel free to drop it in the mail box here as well.

I'll add mine too! My House (the first thing I ever built in SL): http://slurl.com/secondlife/Campbell%20Plateau/176/132/69My Shop: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dansim/78/254/38Come sit a spell. Watch whatever crappy horror flick is on TV. Both are "mature" areas, but for the most part you wont find 'adult' stuff.... well, at least at my house. Find my lil' hidden Cthulhu Temple... ok, not really hidden, but most folks dont find it.

Coincidentally, a Sale weekend!
08-03-2007 01:18
I've just done a redesign in my Greetings Cards store, and added a new Gift Shop, so this is good timing! Would be glad to see you there: . I'm also having a refit sale this weekend, so if you time it right, you might get a bargain The sim has a lot of gardens in it, and is nice for a wander as well.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pimushe/72/205/38My lil slice of the pie, nothing fancy, a smallish treehouse, and garden areas. Do be sure to go for a swim and check out the aquatic life and underwater cave. Of course it's not quite finished, hehe ,but then again, is it ever? Also, as I live on the lake, I have a public boat launch (look for the bamboo dock and Marina sign to the south of the house) if you care to rezz your boats.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Plush%20Elektra/198/114/21Nice idea. This is my small beach shop. What makes it a little different is I made the beach for the shop :^). It is actually quite relaxing to sit down by the waves and listen to the Reggae stream. My artificial paradise in an artificial world.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Arah/211/195/90You are certainly welcome to visit my home and property. The property has a pool area, game room, tea garden, a fairly nice house. Yes there are a few mature things there, but they are out of sight, and not in places you can actually walk to. But feel free to come and look around and explore.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20SteamSkyCity/109/43/76All are welcome to visit. This URL should plonk you down in between my two parcels, my shop, Saltair Arts, and my little Dome sweet Dome home. Not much in the home because i have a very private skybox elsewhere. If you get plonked down at the landing place for the sim, just turn away from the big engine thing and towards the stairs and keep walking until you get to my place. Its near the nose cones (you will understand when you get there) which you can see from the landing place... Be sure to look at the rest of the Steam Sky City platform while you are visiting.. its an amazing place.. you can let down the legs of the platform into the sea below if you visit the control room upstairs... Please don't shut off the engine rotors while the legs are in the up position.. or you will drop us all into the sea. Have fun, and welcome all. Its all rated PG.. nothing daring here.. imogen

Ambergris Deadly Fashions
08-03-2007 09:51
My shop is my home too http://slurl.com/secondlife/Knot/208/62/81/has comfortable seating areas, free drinks and snacks, dance machine and couples dance balls, slideshows (fashion oriented). There is a working Stargate - it is networked to the other Stargates out there - a great way to travel around and see what there is to see. You can also teleport to various areas in my store via transport rings (ok yes I am a huge Stargate fan yay!), or with the more conventional TP beam generators. My office area float above the store and is open to public. You can snoop around on my desk, and sit on my recliner and type at my computer hehe! I am usually around, puttering or creating or just hanging out. There is a nice park area across the bridge down by the fashion runway. Free pizza and drinks at the runway bar, free wine at the park with cuddle balls, bench, patio chairs w/umbrella table and campfire. Clothing freebies around including gift bag, lucky chair and golden trashbin diving. Do not be shy to say "hi!" if you see me ~ Enjoy you explorations! http://ambergrisdesign.wordpress.com/2007/07/27/store-pics/

Great idea! http://slurl.com/secondlife/Yeodeol/92/80/83This URL will take you to my club. Below the club you will find my shop. My house is also on this land and on the other side of the (future) Linden Road you will find my little city with historical buildings and items from Amsterdam, Utrecht and Rotterdam. You will find many things under construction, but also finished things. That is the way I work: Many projects at the same time. I would love to see any or all of you drop by during the open week

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Peachy%20Dunes/169/118/23/ - McWorthington Oasis Yep..finally talked the missus into letting us join the Open House. Then had to spend twice as long trying to convince her not to yank up anything "Inappropriate" and/or "Offensive". Asian themed property on a private island. We started off with a large western beach house, then moved to a smaller cube styled house, and then to a small Asian themed home. Our current domicile is keeping with the Asian theme, but on a slightly larger scale. Asian home and decorations courtesy of Maggie's sense of style and decor. Landscaping and "additional decorations" courtesy of me liking to be a little bit different. Still a work in progress...of course. ^_^

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Taal/149/217/22When you tp, you're standing among the buildings of my modern design furniture shop. The majority of the furniture is low prim, but there is one room with high prim furniture; these I enjoy making most. There is also a pool with sharks, on the property - please, if you decide to look at them, don't go too near or they will get frightened. Sharks are very sensitive animals that scare easily and can be traumatized even by someone pulling a scary face at the waterfront. They are shy around people, but when only I am on the premises I often see them playing with balls and rings and having heaps of fun with each other - they are of course highly social animals. Ample are the tales of drowning people who have been taken to the shore by sharks, and these days autistic and mentally ill people like to swim with sharks because tapping into the strange, ancient wisdom of these highly intelligent creatures makes them feel calmer and more connected. In the 1970s there was even a popular tv show centered around a fun loving, charming shark called Flipper.

I'm 99% certain that Flipper was a penguin.
