And so far, you are the BIGGEST cliche' I have seen...yet another linden cheerleader that cannot admit the lab can be wrong, so everyone and everything else must be.

In what way did I flame you, Michael? I merely asked how it its possible that you run in an 800 x 600 window, and yet find it perfectly acceptable to have half your screen blinded every time the chatterbox opens. Is there some trick you use to manage it better than the rest of us? Some hack that makes it smaller? Or do you merely rarely use it? You're the only person I have heard from that runs in an 800 x 600 window and yet finds Chatterbox acceptable. That's all. No flames. I just don't understand.

I didn't mean just you (your post did have a touch of negativity, you are aware I'm sure)...

Everything aside, I just don't understand (even with multiple IMs up) how so many of you are complaining about available space. I just don't get it...I mean, if you tend to have 6 or more IM open at one time, you're going to have minimal space no matter WHAT your system specs or resolution. If you chronically have to have that many open, then get a larger monitor, or set your system to a higher resolution...I don't think the majority of the populous runs around with 6 or more IM open...and if they do, they aren't doing much exploring or building at that time--so you don't need that much real estate on the monitor.

:)

Not everyone is a super IMer. I actually find it kind of rude when you're talking with someone "in person" and they're sitting there talking with multiple people in IM...kind of like people talking on cell phones when they're out hanging out with their friends.
Are you feeling alright, Squeeze? :) This is the first time I've seen you argue that people who are capable of doing something should be held back because not everyone is able to do the same thing.

Your cell phone analogy doesn't work either because voice is fleeting where text isn't. It doesn't matter if someone doesn't instantly read what you type, it'll still be there 5 seconds later for them to catch up with.

I have no problem following group-chat, chatting in several IMs and keeping track of main chat at the same time. With almost all of the people I know, IM is fairly relaxed in a "when you have a second to catch up" and you're both doing something else at the same time. Sometimes it takes a second to answer, sometimes 10 minutes, it doesn't really matter.

Just because you're talking with someone doesn't mean the rest of the world should stop existing. In my case it's the topic that decides how much I'll be busy doing other things, if someone's just making general conversation that's far less urgent than if they're upset or have a problem, but I'll rarely - if ever - only focus on one specific person at a time.

(You're also contradicting yourself up to a point: in another thread you pointed out that you'll be building/scripting and talking on voice at the same time. Shame on you for not giving the other person your undivided attention :p)

I find it seriously hard to believe, that those of you who [seem to] post intelligently, aren't aware how incredibly rude, short-sighted, and crass you're being. A handful of you really think you're being "intelligent" and "cool", but really, you're just being asses.

If the shoe fits, wear it.

The shoe does fit, Sir, and obviously you have been TPing a lot and it's not just your shoe that's stuck where ther sun don't shine.
As far as I know, I haven't called anyone an ass, so who's being rude here? Again, you are quite simply incapable of seeing how preposterous your posts really are.
I'd feel sorry for you if I were a more generous person.

Brenda, you were being nice to him. What do you think?

"Piss off, someone is in the same room as me trying to have a comversation." Is that how you answer the phone when you have company?

You know it is possible to say "hey I'm in the middle of something lemme get back to you" to whoever got into conversation with you 2nd (in IM or walking up when you are in IM with someone else).

Except that in SL conversations can take hours, but sometimes with appreciable delays between individual snippets of conversation. There's absolutely no reason NOT to multitask, and unlike RL, there's no issue of "Well, this guy bothered to come all the way to my house...".

From: SqueezeOne Pow
Apparently none of these projects or responsibilities you took on are important enough to get your full attention...

Correction, they don't need my full attention. If they required it, they would get it. But they do need SOME of my attention.

In a sense, yes. I admin several places, some of which are PG, some of which are Mature, but all of which have behavior guidelines.

The theatre shouldn't force their definition of respect by making you turn your cell phone off.

Oh come on. At least make a better comparison than apples and left handed thumbscrews-polish applicators.

Actually, I'm going to have to say, as a basically outside observer in this squabble, that you are NOT the victor here.

And lets talk about a far-too-large signature image that screws up the HTML formating, while we're at it.

was gonna ignore that one........... but that's just nonsense. i can make stuff, explore and have numerous IMs going all at once AND still see what i'm making, exploring etc.

I apologize if I was rude, pompous, or brainy...I can assure you, it's only because we all LOVE to push each others buttons, and get a ruse out of each other. I'm sure we're all perfectly sociable people in other circumstances.

See...can I not be rational in times of desperation. I doubt (without insult) that I could have received that from one of you front men/women. Wouldn't you agree?

That's my point Sally. I was saying you CAN'T do that all comfortably. But, my point of that point was you shouldn't EXPECT to be comfortable with all that going on...it's not natural.

Ah, but this isn't far from the truth--I'd much rather lick Rembrandt, than a window! :) Close...

Honestly, if my example really wasn't that hard to follow. I simply meant (for those cruel folks that pretend to be ignorant), I'd much rather see a new account in SL by a brilliant mind, as opposed to a mediocre dud.

And I do NOT mean that in a mean way. If you guys don't agree with that, then maybe it's one reason we have so much bad design circulating existence. Are you satisfied with mediocrity?

You seem very satisfied with mediocrity, Michael, because your posts reveal very mediocre levels of thought. In fact mediocre is quite flattering.
And if I catch you licking a Rembrandt, I may have to resort to violence, as would Rembrandt. You seem to have little respect for anything other than yourself and your rather limited imagination.

...and you keep adding new information every time you post!

"I'm much better than you and your kind because you're arrogant and full of yourself."

Back to the actual issue...

I used to not like the new box but I'm used to it now and can work my way around with it. I adapted to change as a neccessity. I find it worth even less effort to complain about it than complaining about ageplay and broadly offensive content and all that stuff.

It's possible for it not to work for you but work for others. You don't have to be an asshole just because the other team doesn't have the same problem you have or has a problem you don't have.

Mike's probably frustrated by how the majority of the forum dwellers seem to be resistant to change or progress without giving it a chance. He's probably also frustrated at how anyone who says "hey I kinda like it and here's why" is called a fanboy or cheerleader for LL because they're not taking the popular opinion on the forum (which isn't neccessarily the actual SL popular opinion). Talk about descrimination and "community fracturing"!

I don't think anyone in this conversation is oblivious to the fact that some people won't be able to use voice for multiple reasons and no one has a problem with that no matter how much you want them to.

You can't hear.

You don't like talking on the phone and this feels the same to you.

You like privacy and this seems to intrude on that for you.

That's fine. FOR YOU.

That doesn't mean there aren't benefits to it and it doesn't mean there aren't people out there that like it.

And if you don't like how SL is run...build your own! www.multiverse.net

Except that, having used a computer since I was yea high to a printer stand, and in a professional manner since highschool, I'm very comfortable multitasking to this level. I've been doing it since GUIs trounced command line interfaces. That's always been one of the most brilliant aspects of computers, that I can multi task that easily. I choose my computing software(and thus, experience) by my ability to multi-task and the software's ability to match my ability.

i CAN do all that comfortably, in fact i like it, because it allows me to make stuff and communicate with my friends at the same time, or explore and tip my friends about cool places all at once.

Well i don't have a car so no idea about that one.

I'd love the irony....get you guys on voice, and hear what your REALLY made of.
