Yup. I'm tieiring down when I get home from work.

I kind of have a dumb question about "support." I thought that support would be available 24/7 to premium members, at least via chat. But then when I tried to contact them for that password fiasco, I got a message saying that they were available from 9 am to 6 pm SLT. What gives?

From the LL blog posting: "We’ll have it back up and running like normal as soon as possible."

Like normal? This IS "like normal."

Ain't that the truth, because this is 'normal' for SL. SNAFU'd. Which means... we're still getting the short end of the stick. So, anyone know of any good competitors-in-the-works? Preferably someone with all the true scalability/stability that LL 'touts' AND customer service?

Oryx: They can't handle 24/7.. because they are too picky about who they hire, thus can't seem to hire very many people.

When tiering down make sure you transfer your land to a friend with unused tier. This way the land isn't picked up by another resident who would have to increase their tier. The goal is to get as much money off the table as quickly as possible.

After hours they're only available for AR's on broadly offensive material.

From: someone
"Please help us to keep Second Life a safe and welcoming space by continuing to notify Linden Lab about locations in-world that are violating our Community Standards regarding broadly offensive and potentially illegal content. Our team monitors such notification 24-hours a day, seven-days a week. Individuals and groups promoting or providing such content and activities will be swiftly met with a variety of sanctions, including termination of accounts, closure of groups, removal of content, and loss of land. It’s up to all of us to make sure Second Life remains a safe and welcoming haven of creativity and social vision."

Somehow I think the 24/7 part of that might be Bovine Feces.

The current problems prevent ARs from being filed.

my sales are down a lot too, they average 4,500 - 5,500 and last couple of days ive been taking around 2k give or take a bit all because search is down.

you know sooner or later Linden Labs are going to have to be held accountable for
problems like this then either we might get a stable platform or they are going to have big problems.

Basically, as long as the transfer of the land doesn't cause an increase in the tier fees of another resident it's a-okay. This is why transferring the land to a resident with excess unused tier results in a net loss: One resident continues to pay the same amount and the other resident winds up paying less in tier. And note that this causes no financial impact on other residents. It only has an impact on Linden Lab.

If the signatories of Project Open Letter had managed to split themselves into two groups: those with excess unused tier and those wishing to tier down then they would've had an immediate impact as hundreds of thousands of dollars could've been moved immediately off the table after they were given lip service.

People spend far too much time trying to get the attention of King Phil, Robin, Cory, etc., when the Linden we need to get the attention of is the one that has a focus on the finances: Zee Linden, who as CFO for LL, has to report to the board and investors.

As far as I know, only if the alt is Premium, allowing them to own 512 with no tier.

Is the only thing you do is search? Think of it as it is snowing and you can't get out. Read a book (use the map to go places), talk to friends (IM)........The world is not down just a function.

Merchants are angry about search being borked because they fork out L$ to place classifieds. SOme pay considerable amounts of RL$ to do so. Thinking of snow in this case will not help much:)

Abandoning the land would place the land in the auction queue and could potentially wind up in the hands of a resident who might have to increase their tier.

Remember, the goal is to reduce LL's revenues on an account by account basis while at the same time preventing damage to residents.

Don't worry! They've got their, um, let's see, "team of crack Operations people patching it up."

I'd feel a lot better if their team of "experts" stopped taking crack and fixed the problems.
No maps, no money, no TPs, no friends online. Hell, I come here to escape this kind of crap.

Absolutely disgusting... I cannot believe why I am paying Linden Labs to provide this service!

Search broken, TP broken, unable to eject and ban ppl from my land, ghost avatars visible who are not really there, group notices failing, group IM's throwing up errors, money transactions failing because they time out... how can a bug fix cause so many more bugs? We should rename these updates to downdates...

"compensation" for once?
06-07-2007 18:30
Ok, so if search hits being down for 24 hours do we get compensated for anything?

I`m not one to ever ask LL for anything but I`m awfully curious.

I know in the past people have asked about compesation and they replied with the 24 hour deal.

I also wonder if we`ll be refunded for our classified ads.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I never did agree with their stance on "If its down for 24 hours" because for a business like mine, I lose A LOT of money in just hm..5 hours of something like this being down, if its down on my peak hours. If people did not know of my shop I don`t even want to imagine the damage i`d be taking now for being unsearchable for all of these hours and I feel for the businesses who are taking a blow.

I just wish that LL would start taking things more seriously and hire professional people instead of a bunch of kids.

The grid actually has to be offline for a 24-hour period. As long as you're able to access the grid, no matter how bad the experience is, Linden Lab feels that it's held up its end of the bargain according to the Terms of Service.

That`s sad.

I understand it`s in the TOS and if we "dont like it" we "can leave." But when you consider who SL is attracting and whats going on.... A TOS such as that is uncalled for. Unfortunately we all know the story...no one is going anywhere. No real competition for LL. How bittersweet.

Unreal. Almost 24 hours. I must not understand a few things here or something but HOW can it take 24 hours to fix a search engine??

See, they made a little mistake in the post, it turns out their operations people were out doing crack, not crack operations people.

This has led to a 24 hour delay known as coming down.

But hey we get voice next week yay, we can all live chat about how nothing works, till the voice breaks.

What the professional, and just downright HUMANE, thing to do would be to extend EVERYONES tier date by the amount of hours it takes for them to fix this.

eew. i sure didn't consider that disgusting scenerio.

i love to fly around and explore, and obviously get into places i should not be on occasion. 'How fast can you TP out?' should be a contest. i'm a TP-master, and would surely win. :D
