I feel ripped off

I agree, 8K is comparatively cheap. I know someone who bought several 512 plots for 20K EACH.

people are inasne. 8K is insane for 512 land, especially now that SL is going open source. Land value will plummet.

Please explain to me how SL going open source is going to make land values plummet?

A competitor will come along and people will flee so they can get land for cheap.

The land surrounding me was snatched up at the same time I bought mine since it was First Land.
One of my neighbors has had at least four 512m2 mainland plots up for sale, since time of purchase. For about a month they remained around the same price as the other plots around me, at $50,000 L.

But for the past month all 4 plots have been listing at $1,000,000,000 L.

I just logged on to confirm this, even though the process was slow and exceedingly painful because I can no longer navigate in SL since the last update, thanks to my viewer stuttering, 10 sec. pausing every few seconds, and the complete lack of ALL my Focus controls, which no longer work (since the last update).

So I'm wondering -- is this a bug? I'm considering IM'ing this person to notify him that his plots are listed just a wee tad high....that is, if it IS a bug.

Ok, I can see where someone would 'feel' ripped off if they didn't read carefully enough or what not. Kind of like those 'free laptop' ads or something.. just fill out these surveys. They don't tell you that in the end you actually have to buy some stuff to try first.

Well, at least LL stands behind what they say, in writing, and offers such a promising option for newcomers. I mean come on, that is where I got my start. I never even got the luxury of First Land, and I purchased my first 1024k plot for around 11K, flipped it, and went on from there.. now I hold 8196k plot, fot it for about 50k and am happy with my new place on the ocean. Took me a few months to get here, but where else can you do stuff like this?

In the meantime? Heck, I've been building, learning to script better and better, etc.

I hope everyone just kinda takes a second to stop and think about the fact that you can gain a LOT from SL for next to nothing in RL terms.

I was just going to say, "didn't that program end a while back or did LL reinstate it? The last I read there would be no more First Land.

yeah and it only took LL a few months to remove the firstland references from the website and the sl client. so people were joining under the impression firstland was happening when in fact it wasnt anymore.
