Is it possible for people to terraform land which are not on the access list and when the permission to do so is set?

Yes Lucian, you can let anyone on your land, push, use scripts, build and terraform without neccessarily being in a group if you have the associated setttings.

edit: sorry, I missed your access mention. if you have an access list active I think anyone else has no permissions.

Well actually......... I lived in the Falkland Islands for 2 years.. went out one weekend, left all the doors unlocked (not a problem there) and when I returned, found that someone unknown had noticed the milk outside the front door and put it in the fridge for me lol... pity they forgot to empty the dustbin and vacumn the carpets.. oh well.. lol

LOL. I'm from northern New Hampshire and it's still a lot like that there too, at least out in the country. We had a few incidents but it wasn't enough to make us feel we had to leave the door locked all the time.

In some climates if you can't open a window up you're running up an air conditioning bill you could avoid, which is dumb, and exactly what I have to do in Houston. I resent it, too. I'm running the AC when I could have opened two windows and saved the energy.

There are a lot of jerks in the world. The rest of us DO have a right to resent it.

Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions. I've passed them along to my friend. I just have to say though that I don't agree with the opinion quoted below:

and some people did........"

So by that logic, I can fly around to any parcel, check it's land permissions and wreak whatever havoc that I can. If it wasn't griefing, then what was it?

That IS pretty much how the Common griefer thinks.

It's A fact that Cerebral Pygmies like this exist, So that makes it necesary for you to Know what your risks are, and put adaquate safeguards in place.

Not if his property is on the mainland, Only if it is on a privately owned Sim.

to the ppl who continue to compare this to RL

you can't go in your real yard and set permission that no one can dig a hole, your whole point is invalid as this is not RL and it is SL and we do have 'premissions' and if you GIVE PERMISSION then you GIVE IT......come on, think a bit

it is not griefing, you TOLD THEM THEY COULD DO IT by settin the persmission.

Sorry that is just not true. the person did not recieve an IM saying "dig your heart out" nor was a sign spinning with flashing lights put up over the plot saying "sandbox". If someone intentionally gives grief to another, it's griefing. plain and simple. BTW, if you need some assistance with puting the land back together or anything, feel free to IM me Angelique.

Unfortunately...this is SL; where you have to assume that any given person you meet will be worse than the worst ars*h*le you know in RL...That if you don't remove copy perms, people will copy...That if you don't turn off build and object entry, people will leave prim litter all over your land...That if you leave open the possibility to wreck your builds, and destroy in a moment what you took weeks to build, eventually someone will. L have the most enormous sympathy for the OP; I hate the fact that it's that way, and that SL has confirmed my already-bad opinion of most people... but that is the way it is. Was it EVER different? I don't know; you'd have to ask an older resident.

Whether or not you think what happened to the OP was griefing or not, it clearly was really, really bad luck; they left their land open, and out of all the people in SL who wouldn't dream of actively trashing someone's land, along came someone who was delighted to. It's probably salutary for everyone to remember; no-one is immune to bad luck, and it always comes along when you're least prepared for it. Everyone here has made a mistake (or possibly several), and will again, I'm sure; it's just that most of us have been fortunate enough to not have someone take advantage of it...and hopefully will continue to be as fortunate.
