Should we lock 12 of the 13 redundant Land Bot threads?

Incidentally, isn't it rather odd that those who so smugly assert they never had any trouble from landbots, and look, here are six simple steps to selling your land safely - have so much trouble with something as innocuous as redundant landbot threads?

Here are some easy steps to avoiding problems:

1) Look at the list of the threads.
2) Read the titles.
3) Does the title complain about landbots?
4) If so (and here's the trick!) DON'T CLICK ON IT!

You ever been here when the entire first page of forum threads is all on the same subject and have to go two or three pages in to find the actualy resident answer questions? I have and its looking like we are headed for another flood of identical threads ...

meanwhile I didn't know this was the landbot forum or the age play forum most places have rules about posting multiple threads on a single topic because it kinda "hogs forum space" its also known as spam and no one else can talk about anything else cause a couple of selfish people want to post thread after thread on the same subject


incidently i haven't been to many land bot threads but when the forum starts to fill up with threads on an identical subject its kinda hard to avoid and something of a challenge to talk about anythign else.

I know this has descended into silly, (or was this thread silly to start?) but I vote NO.

I also suggest we start copying and pasting these threads into notecards and then randomly send them to folks in-world. Nearly EVERYONE I talk to in SL knows NOTHING about land bots. Sure, it is LL's responsibility, but the company is too busy worrying about what new feature to introduce that no one wants.

Sigh.

is this actually the case though? arent people being encouraged to report things they merely see? things that offend them? things that dont actually victimise them? if somebody that finds pornography (legal) offensive is free to AR, why cant i also AR legal things that i find distasteful?

I started this thread because someone else started another landbot thread that was redundant. I did not mean for the threads on the issue to be locked other than that one, nor do I think the issue should be taken lightly. Sorry folks. Someone start another serious land bot thread and I won't say a word.

Sadly, the other live landbot thread has an odd title and has also veered off-topic and is now about as useful as this thread. I think the topic has been played out on this forum, which might be why the ones that aren't locked are being derailed. /327/c0/194041/1.html

But really, the best way to spread the word is not more RA threads. It's informing your friends and neighbors inworld. Most of whom do not come here and have never heard of landbots.

The easiest thing to do is give them this sticky thread on How to Transfer Land to read.

true, the lanbot issue is far from closed, but at least on this forum, both sides are well defined and no one's mind is gonna change. The Providers have to act, barring that people simply have to know how to safely trade land to avoid the exploit.

You know what might be kind of a cool idea? We have the Ivory Tower as the holy temple of building in SL, somebody could do something similar for land. Show the screens for buying and selling, notecards with tips and warnings, information on how to terraform, differences between renting and selling, how to live a low prim lifestyle....

I'm thinking somebody like a Sarah Nerd who won't turn it into an advertising "buy my land" spam fest. A 512 on the mainland would likely be more than sufficient....

She would be perfect. She already has made several notecards with tips etc. Great idea. If I was still paying tier to LL, I would do it.

Id love to know Linden Labs reason they arent educating new players and new land owners about Land Bots.

My guess is that it would be hard to write it in any way that doesn't look bad.

Or it could be they plan to do something about it, so that it will no longer be a problem. Or it could be they just haven't gotten around to the issue yet.

Yes posting here has not a whole lot of impact there are not a lot of forum readers so if the intent is to warn people using forums well your hitting probably less then 1% of the sl population. If the intent is to make it visible to Linden Labs that fails on that count as well mainly because Linden Labs doesn't read these boards on a regular basis. So a milion bot threads or a million threads on any subject does little good except hog a forum and make it impossible to post on any other problem or ask a question. One thread is fine.

Well Robin Linden did mention something about bots at her office hour, alas I was engaged in a childish spat with someone who was trying to twist everything I said regarding age verification into implying that I hated America, so I missed it! Sorry!

No but someone will have I'm sure, I moaned about not having had enough time to moan about bots at the end, Robin said something but I was distracted. I should know better by my age.

This thread/poll was/is intended for people who don't mind having land bots around, and/or for land bots users themselves as well as LL. Obviously, look at the options...

That' s why I said what I said on my second post at the top, I stand by my words.

My poll was locked, guess why? Guess who? Guess why this poll wasn't locked in a first place. I am not going to answer that, they don't want to hear the truth. Yes, I am convinced that I speak the truth. I am not good at arguing on line, and not interested either. The good thing about this modern way of communicating on line, is that pots can't get buried as easily as it was something that happen in RL. It's good we have Googles.
I really feel sorry for those people who are going to end up using an ALT soon or later, and for those who already did, for obvious reason. Now, people who get ALTs for nobles reason, it's different, like inventory backups, or special character for RP... But those who hide behind "experience" with a new name, new account, those who have joined "yesterday", yet, they speak like they have been in SL since day one... No comment.
