I read their posts like everyone else's. I do pay attention more when they are actually posting something that adds to the discussion going on in the thread.

As far as the program goes, I still don't see any crucial actions taken in making the program evolve into something other than a bunch of people reading and reacting to AR's. No plans to get rid of AR's and implementing a new system of flagging posts? No rewards system being considered since they "loved" the carrots-no sticks idea so much?

IMO, a forum moderator is way more involved and taskful than being in Live-Help or a Mentor. First of all, mods can get AR's. Second, they have forum powers. Third, their actions can result in quicker disciplinary action to other residents.

I think these points should lead to a more official, professional appointment of a moderator. Get a couple of good ones, compensate them, and give them a generic mod name. They don't have to make them a Linden. I'd feel better seeing ForumMod Foo doing all this dirty work and knowing they're getting paid for it.

Please refrain from using the term "what" as it is patently offensive to victims of griefing worldwide. Your insensitivity on this issue has been recorded on your permanent record.

I just wanted to make sure it was okay for me to go on record as saying that this is a crock of shit.

Color me shocked, Jeska bollixing another attempt to use volunteers to front end the abuse from paid personnel (cf. Live Help). Having been a Live Helper (and resigning) you have to take all the front-end pissed off customer crap and have no authority or power at all: "Gee quicktime crashes your client and you paid L$20k for a tv-thingy? I'm so sorry, but not only can't I help you, but likely no one can and good luck getting a refund from the merchant who ripped you off" or "I can't fit this 20x30 pre-fab on my 20x20 plot and I'm really annoyed and I want to take it out on someone".

Sure, there were a lot of pleasant calls, but by the time someone hit the live help button, they were likely already frustrated. Now if that isn't incentive for for your volunteer force, I don't know what is.

Linden Lab has, since time began, been using the excuse "we don't want to compensate mentors / live helpers / greeters because we want people who are motivated by helping not the material returns". Point is they just don't want to compensate, although they seem to have no trouble printing L$ for camping chair zombies, but no one ever accused them of great consistency.

And the first batch of "Jeska volunteered you to be a ResMod" - those that didn't decline, that is - were trying hard to execute ill-specified tasks with grace. Now that we've entered the second batch - those that had explicitly volunteered, we are stuck with people who sought out the position because it did have compensation: POWER.

One of the most egregious examples is that of Elle, she seems to be delighting over her power and it is really pissing the community off. There may be others but she is by far the most visible. Do I know her motivations? Not at all? Can I infer her motivation from her statements, well, I have.

The program is now attracting people who want to dominate in this little world. Which means that the people least suited to the task are the ones who will pursue it most aggressively and cause the most harm.

If the choice is between closing down the forums and having little dictators run the place, shut them down. This has become a mockery of community.

I have to say I'm puzzled, but am likely just not getting the running joke (I can be pretty dense at times).

In case you were serious, I know full well they can stop me at any point they choose.Indeed they have and could do so permanently if they so desire. There comes a time when one's sensabilities bump up against the rules and one or the other has to has to suffer.

My purpose isn't to harm, it is to point out an inherently, irredeemably flawed endeavor. As they say: that and five bucks will get you a cupa' joe.
