I felt like the "Russian Thread" in General was - instead of an intelligent, thoughtful debate - a well placed 'trap' that many were hoping and praying that a careless resmod would fall into so it would add to our seemingly limitless supply of ammunition. Don't we have plenty enough as it is?
as tests go it's interesting.
there was some question about it's topicalness, which jeska answered.
so the trap was avoided. jeska even marked the trap.
the problem is that resmods are supposed to look at the context to figure out what's going on. in theory. had barbara done that, she would have seen jeska's comment.
so this points out two problems:
1) you can have moderators who do a poor job.
and/or
2) the guidelines aren't good enough yet.
furthermore, barbara cited the fact that many people complained as a reason to move the thread... if this is a reason to move or close a thread, as others noted, some people would effectively get banned.
which leaves us again with the two problems:
1) the resmod lacks the judgment and/or follow through to be a good resmod,
and/or
2) the guidelines aren't doing a good enough at guiding.
there is no way to talk about 1) without naming the name of the resmods. if the selection process has problems, then one is going to have to point out failures in the selection process.
