aw...

But I think I will have to pass :(

I think Zi Ree (as our very own Torley :) ) and ninjafoo Ng, to keep us in line :p is the perfect combination.

Now, since you have both "accepted" :D , we just have to wait for someone to object (which would be dumb, I think), and then we have to figure out how to get you both in....

With ninjafoo I have to object. I would rather see someone more neutral. I know that I am not neutral, either. This should be someone who has some idea of what Linux is. He definitely has no idea. But make a public vote. Maybe best is we split now.

I would definitely second the nominations for ninjafoo & Zi. Also Angel, but she won't accept. ;-)

A public vote is the best idea in this case. So who wants to run for Officer along with ninjafoo Ng and myself, who have been nominated already?

Oh, Angel, I am nowhere as polite and eloquent as our beloved Torley :) But I thank you very much for this compliment.

Vinci

That was my point, Vinci. ninjafoo is NOT neutral, he is passionately involved :D

I nominated the two candidates based on effective involvement in the group, as reflected by the influnce they exhibit using the forum.

I understand your point, though. I would suggest you nominate one or more candidates of your own :) And I DO believe, your criteria for an officer would be different to mine, and no doubt just as valid.

I didn't nominate you, Vinci, only because your first loyalty is to Linux, not the SL Linux Group, which I think is vital for an officer. You certainly have done a lot for the SL Linux Group, though.

I declined nomination for the same reason - my first loyalty is to having a Good Time in SL :D and I love helping people of rough spots.

Just a remonder - these are nominations, not appointments! :)

Maybe not as polite and eloquent, but as patient and helpful ;) And a LOT furrier! :D

Hehe, in other places, being furry would have quite the opposite effect on a nomination :)

Aside from that, is there a way to switch group officers at all? Or do we have to create a group for ourselves to get community-elected officers in?

How are we going to conduct the voting? I'd suggest to do this on a SL meeting, but then we'd miss the votes of those who can't attend, and they might want to have a say in the matter, too.

This is the tricky bit.

I think we will have to have a "poll" here, and announce it via a group IM or something in game.

Once we have enough nominations, we can set up a poll here, annouce it by IMs to members of the group, and if the poll is OK (it will have to stay a week or so), get the CURRENT officers to invite one or more of the poll winners to become an officer.

I would REALLY like for us to have a "social" officer in this group, so that we can do proper Group Things (which we need an officer for) in SL itself.

The officer would have to be invited by an existing officer, though.

Lets get the nominations rolling first, though. So far, I feel like a God Maker, which I hate. :p

Any More Nominations? Please???

Or should we start a "Who would you like most to add as an officer in the Linux Client User Group?" thread?

The other alternative, is after the Poll, get the top 2 or 3 to form our own group. I really do think this is a poor second best, though. Anmd we DO have such a group already, by the way.

I would rather see a representative of the actual SL Linux Client Users in the Linux Client Users Group. It sort of makes sense, really :p

We will have to have a group vote on who should become officers, this gives us a mandate to take to the current officers. Hopefully this will be enough.

If they want a say they better come to the meeting, if they can't come they should make their opinions known in this thread.
