I am still in search of a Lavender Tulip.

They say a little phrase, that's all.

I've done a few simple things to safeguard the tulips.

I'd rather not reveal them at the present time. There is nothing harmful, lag-causing, privacy-invading or otherwise 'bad' about my safeguards in any way.

I've heard there are a lot of Second Life exploits, glitches, hacks and so forth, and my safeguards are just one more line of defence against duplication.




In fact, this is the great risk - for anyone who has ever heard of what has happened with regard to changing object permissions and other content creators.

Please, everyone, before you pay an insanely high price for a tulip, take the risk of duplication as small but real.

As everyone can see from the $L figures, the *entire* tulip market (should I become a scammer) is worth less than half a day's sales to me. Logging out of Second Life and taking a nap nets me more $L for less effort. But the liability I now face is huge, because the tulips are out of my control.

I truly hope the owners of the tulips, especially the most valuable ones, record their collections and transactions here. At least in that way, one would have transaction statements to go by to track the history of each tulip.

Please. If you enjoyed this little exercise at all, record your dealings and holdings, it may serve as a record should suddenly 'two' of a tulip be found. I have no doubt that scammers would target the tulips not mentioned here first.

A gentle reminder:

I *never in my wildest dreams* thought anyone would pay more than $L 100 for a tulip.

1) PLEASE, consider, if anyone simply buys a full-mod item from me, they can change it into something fairly tulip-like. It won't fool me, but it might fool a casual buyer.

I would like to thank Snapple Drago for reminding me of this all-too-obvious possibility.


2) I don't think it's possible to duplicate a tulip precisely, but I didn't create Second Life - I can't say for 100% certain. Permissions failures have happened in the past.


IF YOU ARE SPENDING A LOT OF $L BE VERY CAREFUL.

If someone wishes me to have a look at a tulip for verification prior to purchase, I'll be happy to assist. But I'm not going to verify any tulip while scanners are possibly nearby, nor am I going to reveal what subtle little details about the tulip I'm looking for.

Your best bet is to know a tulip's 'pedigree' - see who claimed it on this exchange, know where it has been since, and so forth.

In fact, if a tulip's history is not listed here, I'd say it was a LOT less valuable and over the long run, potentially suspect.

Since we're down at post #140ish I just wanted to thank Gabe Lipmann for being a hoopy frood that hooked me and one other player up with a tulip out of sheer magnanimity. People who give a damn can probably read back and determine when and where and whom, as I didn't feel at liberty to disclose such early on. I think I also caught him behaving similarly toward others above.
