If anyone wishes to place buy or sell orders for Desmond Shang Tulips, this is the place to do it.

Please Note: Desmond Shang doesn't trade in tulips!

Once the first 99 sell for $L 10 each from me, I'm out. Locate other buyers and sellers with this forum thread.

I'll buy as many as you're prepared to sell to me. Seriously, I'll take all 99. Or the first six you sell. Or the Rare Dark Beauty when you choose to release it.

So early to be bidding up the price with only a fraction of the tulips in circulation.

Well, I did look; the parcel wasn't all that large and I'm a good lost item hunter. I put my valuation on it but so far those who have them don't seem interested in even saying they have them or asking counter offers, etc.

So I'll just wait until someone has one on offer and make the hint that the value of a tulip to me is higher than I have posted here and that I'd be willing to negotiate.

I'm starting the ball rolling here. Was the proud picker of 5 tulips in the second "release". There were other people looking around. I just got lucky I think. Or people gave up. And I wasn't stalking, this release just came at a time I was free to go poke around and I saw the post about 10 mins after Desmond put it up.

And so....

Spirit of Flame 2/15
Scarlet Passion 3/36
Phantom White 3/25 and 4/25
Luscious Peach 1/8 (currently not taking offers for)

I am now in possesion of:
  1. Phantom White 4/25
  2. Scarlet Passion 4/36
I'm not sure if Desmond has an interest in what I paid for them; please indicate if so. I rather fond of them at the moment so this is not an offer to sell. However, absurdly large offers would be considered as every person has his or her price.

I certainly have an interest in what the price was; I suspect others do also.

However, I don't wish to be crass; there is such a thing as "minding one's own business" and I respect that.

Yet if you wish to share it, I suppose I shall say for the benefit of the peanut gallery, by all means please do!

I was shocked and awed when the bids of $L 100 and $L 110 surfaced above.

The latter was 1100% over the original selling price! And I think most of us would consider the original $L 10 price as 'reasonable' for a cute, four prim tulip.

Are you giving me the high-hat? :D

If you want to deal, I'm stuck at work for the day, but will make it worth your while. IM or PM to negotiate.

I certainly have an interest in what the price was; I suspect others do also.
I had contacted the person who sold me the two tulips and he had seen what I had been offering. Despite my offer for L$100, the seller requested L$20.

Just to add more data that economic models have a hard time capturing, I had never met the seller before, although we'd obviously read each other on the forums. Upon completion of the transaction I noticed that he had given me two tulips; I asked if that was an accident, he said it wasn't, so I gave him another L$20 as a reciprocal gesture of (meager) generosity. Of interest is that the value of L$ exchanged was about US$0.45 so this is obviously not a matter of high economic exchange, at least in this case.

Now, of course, the savvy reader will be able to identify the seller, but please don't hound him as a result of my disclosure here. Thanks.

I have acted as proxy between Never and Gabe, and have paid Never the price she negotiated with Gabe and have transferred the "Pale Lavender 1/10" to Gabe. I did this to expedite the consummation of the transaction.

As I did this without formal authorization from Gabe, he may accept it as a gift or not as he sees fit. As for the disclosure of price, I leave that to the other parties.

Complex is it not?

added: I took Never's word for the negotiated price which also doesn't fit cleanly into economists models, but my default in game (and mostly in life) is to take someone at their word unless given reason to believe otherwise.
