I'm sure there are quite a few of us in the greater Vancouver area. Even those in Calgary, AB or Seattle, WA. are within driving distance so how bout some plans for some SL meetups here? No av contests or money ball giveaways at the meetups please. :D

Yes, Vancouver is a techie haven, and quite a history of virtual communities as well.

Shoreline, MagVis, DeepCove, QuickBBS, Mindlink, BlueBoards, SamOBEN, etc...

Well, I better stop before I fully date myself.

I've found a couple of other SLers from Vancouver, BC. Which was cool since thats where I am too. ^^

Be interesting if there was a meet.

Wonder if it might be cool to do a single meet up for those in the seattle area all the way up to the vancouver area. Just that I haven't seen enough of either to really make much of a meetup, so it might be cool to turn it into a single meet... just an idea...

Well, I am an SL'er from Surrey B.C., and hang around with a lot of other Surrey/Langley/Kits peeps. We gather at my place and DJ for SL's Club 69 Radio, and etc. It's quite fun.

I was thinking of putting together a VanSL meet, maybe this is the pupularity I would need to kick it in the ass.

SL = Hawt.

I'd totally be into meeting up sometime. Maybe we can all geek out over sushi or something. :)

Looks like we have a decent amount of interest for this... so anyone with any suggestions on a date and place and/or activity etc? I'm figure we could meet at a Denny's or Tim Horton's or sumthin... depending on what people would prefer and how casual ya want the place to be etc... sure we have enough interest for a couple tables or more :D
Somewhere in Vancouver would be good.. even Burnaby is rather central... weekday or weekend preferred? afternoon/evening good? etc... let's hear some thoughts :D

I could only meet on the weekends. For some reason, classrooms don't run themselves. And I request a smoke free area, if at all possible.

Weekend evenings would be best for me. Can I suggest a casual restaurant or pub instead of Denny's or Tim Horton's? :)

There's a great, *very* casual Japanese restaurant near me on 2nd Avenue. Their menu has a wide range of choices for those who are veggie and/or dislike the idea of sushi. It's a nice little hangout with a few nice beers on tap. Prices are reasonable.

Thoughts, reactions, opinions?

something near a skytrain is always good. gotham downtown has a good pub, though a bit pricey.

steamworks near waterfront is pretty good, beer isn't that expensive, though you have to compete for table space with the yuppies.

probably a bunch of other places along the skytrain that I'm not familar with..

hotel vancouver is very cool as well, but, again, pricey. usually lots of table space

Blaze, are you in Vancouver?

Yes, something near a skytrain is good. So anything downtown would be optimal, like Milestones or Malone's (both on Robson) or some similar eating establishment. Food is good.

mouahahah.

I find restaurants are better once you get to know people.

first time out, places with easy escape routes, like pubs, are much better

Aha, so if you look at your watch after half an hour and say, "Whoah! Look at the time!" it means you hate us. :p

A pub sounds good to me, and there's no shortage of them. I'm open to suggestions!

I could make it to Edmonton or Calgary, but not sure about Vancouver. At the least I know I have a relative to hang with there if I could afford to get there.

Pubs and bars don't work for me, I never have/don't smoke or drink. :D

Hmm let's set a tentative time or date and stuff... how's everyone for the weekend after halloween? First weekend in Nov. i guess... friday evening or Saturday would probably fit everyone's schedule good...
Also, location hmm... somewhere downtown Vancouver or skytrain accessible like maybe even by Metrotown... there's a Cactus Club there.. Red Robin... etc... thoughts?

Malone's at Seymour and Pender Nov 11 or 12? Yes? No? Which is preferable?
10-27-2005 14:08
Let's try for 2 weekends after Halloween. Some people need more than a week to recover. ;) So that would make it Friday Nov. 11, or Saturday Nov. 12.

As for the place, may I suggest: Malones on Seymour @ Pender? It's very close to Sea Bus and the SkyTrain station, as well as several bus routes: CLICK HERE FOR A GOOGLE MAP.

It's half restaurant, half bar, so we'll have a choice. ;)

What say you all?

Hmm well, November now... how's the interest in this? Second weekend of Nov. should be fine... well, the Friday anyways... Malones is pretty easy to get to transportation wise... pretty close to Waterfront Station and all... :D
