Arcadia Scoreboard!

So I have compiled the scores so far for the Arcadia Competition. I will hopefully be updating this regularly, so stay tuned in. Remember, games are scored by how much money they are paid - I have given all the contestants a "paybox" that records who has paid their game what, and each one sends me that information regularly. I have gone through, taken out any cases where the developer is paying the game they made, and taken the remaining totals.

*Dark Life is not playable at this time, but they have set up a donation box. Due to the emergancy nature of their situation, and the fact that the game is I have decided not to disqualify them yet. If you have a stron opinion on this, please approach me in world, and I will be happy to listen.

How can a game which is not playable yet earn Lindens?
Do you subtract amounts paid by the official author of the game (ie one person) or his or her collaborators as well? Just checking.

I discount the people who were listed in Hamlets post of the official nominees, and any alts of those people. If you have someone on your team you would like to credit for your game, I can discount them from the score as well.

Hey Moriz, Darklife is playable on our home sim as its always been for the past couple of years, our donation box is for any of our supporters who wished to donate to the arcadia cause and several of our current players have been very supportive.

There is a link to navora at the entrance to Dark Life in Arcadia.

I do believe there was something in the rules about the game being able to leave arcadia to other sims, I didnt know what other games in arcadia 1 and 2 had there own home sims so we weremt sure if anyone was doing what we were doing.

Hmm.. I asked Ben about that before the competition started. I could use my islands too and not bother with lag etc.. too. But Ben specifically told me that he is counting only for games played in Arcadia. Now what is the latest on this rule? Please let me know. Looks like counting is also happening off Arcadia.

How do you determine alts? I use my own credit card for my friends and relatives in SL. The reason being that in Mauritius, there is a culture of not using credit cards on-line, many of my friends and relatives are 18+ (still studying) but dont have credit cards yet (yes this is an island near Africa, things are a bit different there). The second reason is that they cannot use phone numbers (only US phone numbers work). I think I was hit with this issue even during the voting stage where the first 8 were selected.

Also, if I can mention, a small, small, Smaaaaalllll part of Darklife in Arcadia is playable... There is one mini-quest waiting there, but I really don't want to spoil the fun by giving out too many details for it yet. Anyone who is really interested can look into the existing shops in the Darklife plot in Arcadia and see if they can find where it starts. And anyone who get "stuck" or has any problems with it, shoot me an IM or PM

Unfortunatly the programmer had Real Life emergencies that he had to attend. I want to go into detail, but I am respecting him and I have to leave it at that. We had planned to be done on the 19th but he just couldn't make it for those reasons. If we simply were not done for other reasons, then I would see being out of the game. But being this is a serious situation and it's beyond our control... we are asking for some time. During this time, we have the 1/4 sim completely set up and ready for game play, but we don't have the scripting... as Mark Busch is the scriptor. Once things settle for him, he will come back and get it running in no time flat. We have diverted people to Navora if they are willing to play. If you are asking if there is a coinbox in Navora the answer is simply no. The only box we have set up is in Arcadia.

Hmm.. with due respect, regarding real life emergencies, I am not able to log in SL to organize events as needed and boost participation on my game because I am on the road. And I will be on the road for a while doing essential RL things. Regarding health issues, I understand this needs to be kept private and this applies to everybody. Bah.. this is SL is not RL I guess. In RL, if I am sick and I miss a submission deadline, I am roasted LOL. Hey hope your developers get well soon/ rl things get sorted out quickly. Best wishes. I dont want to be too much of a pain

After looking at the "game" The Collective, I thought I would give it a shot, the setup on Arcadia was intriguing...after purchasing my pack for a prohibitive cost, I realized the game wasn't in the well planned area on Arcadia, but a marketing ploy for the creator's and their friends.
I hope others are enjoying the game, but I stopped playing. I'd ask for my money back, but I should have studied more before making my purchase.

note: the above was a general statement regarding the gaming of various measures in SL (e.g. Ratings, Dwell, etc.) and had nothing to do with any particular build, players or creations. Indeed, I wasn't even aware of Arcadia prior to this thread and will likely check it out. I apologize if it was read as an accusation.

Head back when people are there. It is definatly in that area. The center circle is for pvp battles, and the areas on the outside of the circle (the triangle areas outside the wall but inside the fence) are where the NPC's that you can level off of are.

I can assure you, that atleast the collective's score isn't gamed (A few of us just spent way too much on it )

Moriz, I am only counting money that is paid on Arcadia. If you have your games elsewhere, that is fine, but they will not count towards your score. All of the earnings Darklife (and the other games) have made so far have come from payments on Arcadia.

As to the pack being a "prohibitive" cost, I don't personally feel that L$50 is a prohibitive cost for something that is infinitely playable.

I do find it odd that you mention wanting a refund, but never contact me once about it. If you really wanted it, one would think you would have IMed one of the creators.

Ben, are you sure on those numbers? I've been keeping track of The Collective's, and your number looks to be about L$8000 or so off.

I am still trying to figure out what all these numbers mean. For me 1L$=every time the new game button gets clicked. So I find my score pretty satisfactory from that perspective. But let's say I now start a donation box, and ask my players to donate cash just to support the game dev effort, would the amount of money won counted be fair? I dont know. Looks not too fair if you ask me. But hey if this is how money can be won, guess I'll have to go down that route too.
