I try to go to every Primtionary which Freya runs. Its brilliant fun and gets you thinking.

Numbakulla - I think the build is stunning. I couldn't find a crowbar so sort of gave up but will go back and try again.

I lo0o0o0ove the game dev competition games, especially last year's ones, dont remember any names, but there was one involving dead animals, that one was the best... I still remember my ghost kitty :'(

I also like spades, played that a few days ago, seems pretty cool.

And it was neat when the lindens had that wall of clickable art cubes at ahern. Those were cool.

Prim Attack! Can I get a copy somewhere for my place? Or are these only at the welcome areas?

Anyone remember.. about a year ago, when the amusement park (In Luna and Coney or somethin?) first opened and there was a game where you had to jump from tile to tile as they lit up without overstepping the edges and it would count how many times in a row you did it and keep the top 10 players in a highscore list... it looked like that... and it was made by I guy I knew -- the name slips my mind but he dressed in all black and all you could see were his two white glowing eyes... anyway I'm wondering if the game is still around somewhere becuse it was awesome =D

Thanks guys ;)

Favorite Games
08-06-2005 09:08
Well, there are so many out but my favorites would be Tringo have to love the challenge. Then there is Quintzee, nothing like the good old game of Yahtzee. And well I love to Teaze the mind so would have to say Lindenaire too. Oh... and a wonderfully great card game... SPADES :)))
Amazingly enough nothing like good old games to socialise and have fun with friends both in our RL and our SL.

OH... Forgot one....MAHJONG

MAHJONG... ok this is the ultimate for teasing the brain in a puzzling manner and making you think. Moving the tiles and defeating each level is relaxing yet mind numbing. And I know I will never beat Helen Dayton or Snapdragon at this one... but all in the fun of trying :).
The old games park used to have it set up but it was dismantled. But we were able to preserve the tradition as the boards kept for scoring etc were given to my friends and I as we were regular users and we set it up on our land for all to use.

Riddle City Ransom
08-06-2005 10:34
Of course I'm one of the developers and so I'm biased, but Riddle City Ransom is currently my favorite game. A lot of people are making new friends by hanging out at the Shogunate Temple and trading for riddle pieces. We're getting lots of positive feedback from other players as well.

I second Riddle City Ransom

I'm NOT a developer of the game and I LOVE Riddle City Ransom! I'm on my second go round on it this time and will undoubtedly start up a third time. I've had a terrific time and met a lot of cool people playing. Not all of the puzzles are my kind of puzzle, but I keep trying to get better scores anyway.

Riddle City Ransom ROCKS!!!

Most of these games I have never heard of, and I wander around the world wondering where things are.

Is there a game directory where all the major games are listed so one can find them?

Jeska started this sticky thread, but it only includes games that have websites.

You can find other games, by using Find->Places and then filtering by "Games".

Riddle City Ransom is a gridwide quest that begins at Obscure (126,26).

I too have had trouble *finding* games in SL, but that's part of the fun. You need to network and make friends and ask people and use Find and Events and the forums. Here are my favorites so far. I'll try to post the locations or creator names to help you find them but I'm doing this from memory at work, lol:

Settlers of Second Life. Great port of the RL game Settlers of Catan. You need 3-4 players for this game. There are two places I know of with tables set up and ready to use. You can find one by doing Find on "settlers" - I think it's the place called "Easy" something or other. The other is at the Squidsoft Gaming Plaza. (Do a Find on "Squidsoft".) There are probably other places too. Join the "Settlers of Second Life" group to find other players, or look for Events that are posted now and then.

Greedy Greedy. Only table I've found so far is at the Squidsoft Gaming Plaza. Fun dice-roll based game for up to 8 players. You can play solo.

Any air combat vehicle with the CCC combat system. The *most* combat fun I've had in SL so far, and very easy to play with friends. Almost every vehicle made with this system also features a "guest pilot" command that enables you to rez multiple copies of your aircraft and authorize the copy to be piloted by a specific player until the aircraft is destroyed or the player exits the aircraft. Look in the Classifieds forum, under New Products -> Vehicles and you'll find a slew of posts about aircraft with the CCC combat system. There are several builders that use this system. Most of these craft handle like a dream, are intuitively steered by pointing your mouse where you want to go, and can hover in place, move very slow, or even move backwards. It's very easy to focus on hunting your prey without wrangling with the controls. After about 15 minutes the piloting controls are transparent and intuitive. Now all we need is a group dedicated to CCC-capable dogfighters so that its easier to find folks to dogfight with. I could also envision hosted events where one host rezzes copies of their own aircraft for the event players and authorizes each craft for guest piloting. This way, as each event player is shot down, they're down for good and so you could have "last man standing" style contests. When a winner is declared, the host could rez another round of aircraft and everyone can have another go.

Frag Foo. Made by Crystalshard Foo, this is an invisible device you wear that overrides normal SL damage from weapons that use "bullet" projectiles. When you and other players wear the Frag Foo, you can use *any* gun in the game as long as it has a "bullet" ammo type, and you can shoot each other in *any* sim. The Frag Foo keeps track of damage and when you hit 0% health, you are frozen in a death animation (blood pool and chalklines) for 30 seconds, after which your health is reset and you're back in the action. What's great about this system is the ability to use any weapon, fight anywhere, and get back in the action quickly after a death. Without a Frag Foo (or similar device), you can fight only in damage enabled plots (or sims), of which there are relatively few. Also, when you die under the normal damage system, you are TPed back to your home location, which is annoying and inconvenient. Also, when wearing the Frag Foo, I'm pretty sure that you can't damage other players who aren't also wearing a Frag Foo, even in damage-enabled areas. The Frag Foo makes for a total opt-in PvP system with your choice of weaponry. Do a find for Crystalshard Foo and visit her store to get this. Personally I recommend using Seburo Xploder guns (Find on "Seburo";)with this system, but the Socom gun that is bundled with the Frag Foo is also quite nice. I haven't tried Hiro Pendragon's Colt 45 guns with the Frag Foo yet, but those are next on my list.

BTW, if you're into the "gansta" genre here in SL, I could imagine them having a lot of fun having turf wars with this system, or just being badasses and going around with the Frag Foo equipped 24/7, ready for anything that comes their way from a rival gang. But then again, I'm fairly ignorant of gansta culture in SL other than the fact that it exists. Maybe these folks aren't into fighting at all.

Abranimations Rail Gun. I can't remember the exact name of this weapon, but you can find it at the Abranimations store (do a Find on Abranimations). It's a nice rifle-style weapon with a harmless damage system like the Frag Foo, only more limited in that it works only with other players who have the Rail gun or the other similar weapon in the set. Since you can set the Rail Gun to use bullet-style ammo, it will also work fine with the Frag Foo in that mode.

Target Launcher. I can't remember who makes this handy device, but I know you can find it at the Squidsoft Gaming plaza. This thing has several different built in games, and you can make your own easily enough. It launches physical targets in the air that you shoot with any weapon loaded with "bullet" ammo. One of the games, for example is like a 3D space invaders. This thing is lots of fun when there are no other players to PvP with.

Portal Wars. This is fairly new to SL. Great team-based PvP concept and execution. You join one of two sides in an ancient conflict (excellent backstory). One side uses techno weapons and the other uses magical weapons. Like the Frag Foo system, you wear a special backpack that tracks your damage and works only with weapons designed for Portal Wars. The game creator and some of his friends have already made many weapons for each faction, but the game is open enough to let other players design new weapons. As with Frag Foo, any warpack-equipped player can fight with Portal Wars weapons in any sim at any time. What makes Portal Wars really different, though, is that you level up as you play, and gain more power as you level up. Your warpack tracks all your stats as you die or score kills, etc. When you level up, you get more points with which to equip more or better weapons. Very strong weapons take more points to equip. There are also health rechargers, defensive shields, etc. You have a total number of points to work with at any level, and this limits the type of weapon/shield/health/misc loadouts you can equip. Also unique to Portal Wars is the concept of special rez towers that each side fights to control. When you die during a battle, you can recover and get back in the action only by using a rez tower under control by your side. Part of the fun is launching capture attempts on the other side's rez towers, giving you strategic objectives in a battle, rather than just an out and out frag fest. Do a Find on "Portal Wars" to find Deevyde's plot where you can choose a side and pick up your gear (for free!). Also join the "Portal Wars" group to ensure that you hear about battles that spring up.

Castle Wars. This is very new to SL. The grand opening was last night. I watched but didn't play, but it looks amazingly fun. I know it can be played by as few as two players, but don't know whether the max is 8 or 10 or 12 players. You pay a small amount of Linden to a central kiosk and about 30 seconds after the last player has paid the kiosk, the game starts. A *huge*, slender castle tower is rezzed around you. You're sitting on a huge catapult halfway up your tower. Every tower is a different color. The players in the round lob huge colored projectiles with their catapults at the other player's castles, slowly demolishing everything (with great visual effects). The last player left standing (usually with only a piece or two of their own castle left intact) is the winner and gets the pot. The round I watched took at least 15 minutes, and I arrived in the middle of the round. You can bet I'll be playing this one a lot. Although there are hosted events for this, you don't need a host to play. You can play anytime as long as there is at least one other person to play with you. I can't remember what sim this was in, but if you search Events for "Castle Wars" you should be able to find this.

Dark Life. MMORPG style game in a sim. Do a Find on "Dark Life" and you'll find it. Nothing in SL will compare to a dedicated MMOG game, but this one is the best of breed for SL versions.

Hangman. I've seen a casino variety, and a small personal variety. The small one is made by Crystalshard Foo and can be found at her place. Fun and addictive.

Second Fortune. A hosted game, played on a big board with seats like any of the *ingo games. Only this game is essentially "Wheel of Fortune" coded for Second Life. Very fun, and the top three scorers share a pot. Search Events for "Second Fortune".

I'm sure I'll find more, but that's my short list for now. "TP Bowling" looks promising, but I haven't tried it yet.

Castle Wars is set up in Maroon and it's only 2L to play it doeasnt look like much without the castles rezzed a circle of colored circles about 70 meters across with the venders in the center I started on a 1/4th scale version looks pretty cool, you don't have to shout and you can see exactly where you hit the other castle will probably make it an option at start of game( the scale you want to play at) but ya this is my favorite game. And of course the Snail Races
I've been listing this as a sport because, It is the original sport of kings even before horse racing there was Castle Wars. Plus that makes it easier to find if you select sports instead of the tringo filled games catagory. Only one event so far but It's open to the public always IM me if you need another player. But I'm getting pretty good at it also changed it some no tiny towers anymore all big ones. faster game that way.

Castle Wars is great fun with friends! Mah Jong is fun alone. DarkLife is a long-term fun game. I like Sim Combat - nice surroundings, too. I'm not a big game-player as my right arm doesn't work very well, but there are games for every mood in Second Life! I am just amazed at the skills and smarts of all the gamemakers.

All of these I've tried and they were great. I wish to add two more that most of you by now know of:
Minerva--One I personally thought died out but is now outta beta and going strong! Few bugs, but everything will be fixed as the days go on:) Community is slowly growing and I hope it gets big! PVP is rampant, but will easily enuf be thwarted by the system of doo-gooders in game.

Tech Warfare RTS by Edkc--Sorry i always get your name wrong! But we tried out the game last night in the sandboxes, and it contains 3 bots, 3 buildings, and 2 towers. The game looks and plays quite like a rocks scissors paper game, plus it is quite enjoyable! Got to be one the most entertaining<but laggy> rts games made yet in the sl universe!
