Nothing but problems since the update haven't been able to see SL at all hardly. Glad I am a paying resident for this! I want my old 1.6 back ...at least I could see where I was going. The new fancy buttons do me no good if I can't see to use them

Hell yeah.... why do I have to turn off a load of graphics options to get to anything like the level of performance my system was delivering in 1.6 (with those options on)?

When 1.6 came out, there were Residents who wished that SL revert to 1.5. I would hope that experience teaches things.

It'd likely more productive to wish we go FORWARD to 1.7.14. :)

That being said, good news is ahead... history repeats+rhymes at the same chimetime and you can read this and see what Robin Linden has to say!

I've been in sl for a year now, at the dawn if 1.6 and ever since that upgrade, it has down graded my building. Slower rezzing times and textures are, at random very, very slow while browsing them. I havent had the time to come onto sl as of late but now that im back, its just down right horrable to build. Taking me an hour to build 4 posts waiting for rezzing and then browsing a suitable texture, then crashing my computer 3 times! I gave up.
I dont have a super great computer, but it was the same one i used when i signed up here and i was a building finnatic, always keeping an eye on prims cuz i just couldnt stop lol. Now im more frustrated with the lack of time i have than how much i can do.
I'm sorry, if i have to upgrade my computer every time sl upgrades the program, then sl will have to continue with out me cuz its already, in my opinion, getting too expencive.
I just dont have the time and patients, nor the funds to keep up.
It was fine when i got here, now i am baffled at so many upgrades in such a short time period. I'm beginning to believe this is all job security to these so called programming engineers. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but i just dont care anymore lol. Only cuz i have a 1st life and Second Life is just an artistic tool to my relaxing enjoyment of it, not to relive another life lol.
I wont go into our sim crashing at least once a week and severely restricting our events when the sim's body count rises above 16 residents, thats a whole other complaint ill leave for rebuttle arguments.

Yes, I hoped it would have taught Linden something, but sadly, no.

Second what Torley said.. Plus: Going back a version will unleash more problems than dealing with the one we've got..

While we are at it why dont we just roll back to 1.1 and everyone can see how much it HAS improved.

I do not care what they do as long as they fix the frame rate and lagg problem first

I have never seen things this bad before. I was on my friend's Alienware comp and he has a T1 line for is office and it still was horrible. the up date did not work out . if they want to reduce lag limit the # of scripts one can run on one's land just like they do the prims.

I guess I'm lucky. My frame rate is pretty much back to normal almost everywhere. My only prob since the update has been memory issues with scripts I'm writing and that's at least half my fault.

a return to 1.6 until the bugs in 1.7 have been worked out is a good idea.

Ok I'm not goin to say this is the last time iI'm going to say this becouse theres many others that make the SAME complane but...
For Criste Sake Turn OFF LOCAL LIGHTING and SHINY!
Also however much you believe 1.6 will magicly fix everything back You dont relize that you will be dooming yourself to a Magor Update Repeat Yes that means the whole gridwill be down for a day to RECONFIGURE the sims and the login server will become choked once agine upon reopen and residual information from 1.7 will fubar the once stable 1.6 and there will be NO PROGRESS made by a major step back. So just sit it out like the rest of us... And before you go complaining about "there not doing anything and you dont payanything unlike myself" Bull Im paying on 2 accounts for my land so byte me and suck it up

And with that said im going to bed so I can get up tomarrow and find a calm sim to play in larer this morning

yIt's NOT local lighting and shiny things it IS the frame rate I have thoroughly tested it on a wide variety of systems and it all the same. LL is working on a solution but it will take time to get it back on it 's feet so to speak.

Just hold tight guys it will work out.

Just wanted to give you guys some perspective before you do a vote for 1.6. Read on:

From: someone
Twist and Shout: Version 1.5 is Here

By ROXIE MARTEN
SecondLIFE Magazine

Second Life 1.5 has hit the world. Fraught with problems and a bugs it has slowly wobbled unto it’s own two feet.

The new version was plagued by frequent crashes, teleportation problems and dragging lag. Two upgrades later, it now runs more smoothly.

"Never thought being able to teleport was a big deal until it didn't work. It was like loosing a limb or something," Noonian Bard said.

Others said the new version rendered some previously created items unusable

Cubey Terra of Abbots Aerodrome said a feature involving using the cursor to make items rez faster caused some problems with the vendors some merchants used.

"For some reason they changed how mouse clicks work with transparency," he said. "That broke my vendor which uses a transparent surface between the buyer and the vendor model."

"To buy something from my vendor, the buyer would right-click the transparent surface and "Pay". But now When you right-click, it selects the model inside, which doesn't do anything"

Though many have complained about v1.5 and it’s faults, others, like Jamie Oits of The Learning Center, are less concerned.

"I really feel for the Lindens right now. It’s like having a new born baby with teething problems," he said.

From its shaky start, v1.5 has already evolved. It offers some noticeable improvements from v1.4.

New building features may stand out as an improvement to many. The latest version offers more ways to edit a primative and improves other editing features.

Prims may now be twisted a full 360 degrees in either direction.

"Torus is going to be on crack now," said Linden Lab programmer Don Linden.

On top of that a new prim has been added called circle.

Another new feature is "Live Help" from the menu bar. Clicking on it puts you in touch with real-time help for your problem. The Live Help line is staffed by Second Life residents culled from the mentors pool along with other residents who have been in world at least 90 days and have a clean record with the Lindens.

For more information about being a Live Help staffer http://secondlife.com/livehelp.

If you’re landless, a new feature in the Find tool is for you. It will allow you browse for affordable land that is available to anyone who has not owned land before. This replaces the current land for the landless program.

As in the past, parcels of 512 square meters may be bought for 150L.

With new features added some features have left. No more will the Lindens announce events. In it’s place the events calendar has added a notify feature. You may now select which events you want to know about. When the time for the event arrives, it will offer you the ability to teleport to that event.

Private island owners now can sell or transfer their island to another user for a 100L fee. The fee covers costs incurred by the Linden Labs to make the ownership change.

Private island owners also have more expanded controls on their island.

I have absolutely no issues with my client FPS. I do not believe that these local options change anything having to do with the sim FPS, which at this time is my primary issue. Four people standing around and talking will bring a sim to its knees. This is ridiculous.

Hi all!

I know for many of you it seems that 1.7 has only brought problems, but this is the kind of problems that will provide a better SL experience if we just hang in there.

It is difficult to create new features for a system like SL. Apart from the obvious problem of trying to please the maximum number of residents with the choice of new features, doing the coding is highly technical and I restate: difficult work.

I can assure you the Lindens are doing the best they can to get 1.7 as stable as possible, as soon as possible, but they need our support. When a mayor update is done, there is always a "teething" period and in a world where anything is possible, it is pretty much impossible to test for every eventuality. That's why we are needed to to help with some of the testing and together we can create the best SL so far.

So if you find problems, SEARCH the forums and see if anyone else is having the same kind of problem and add to their thread. If not, start a thread, preferable NOT in hotline to Linden, cause there none of the non-Linden residents can lend a hand.

Other than that, keep on believing that Second Life can only get better, and 1.7 is the way to get there.

Take care - see you in SL!
