I used to like SL

Not so much anymore. Except for yesterday when I came here and a bunch of you helped me.
My neighbors huge prims are out of my property, the porn is off the front door. I still have his huge mega sex mall on my ass though.

A bunch of you suggested going up 500m or so to get away... but you know I used to have neighbors I was friends with. We would hang out and talk. My new neighbor has ruined that for me. If I move my house that high I will never see them again. ANd why should i have to move it that high? Why does SL allow people to do this?

I used to hear that SL is not about money (From Pathfinder Linden) but it is. It is all about money and sex. Nobody from SL bothered to talk to me yesterday, or the creep who lives next door. I guess his huge beams of light are acceptable. And my choice is to give the creep who harrassed the hell out of me my property.... this place so sucks.

I think the lindens are working on solving the problem with the huge prims that can go over the parcel line, currently prims are measured from their center, I think when Havok 4 arrives, prims will be measured from their real size, which basically prevents them going into your parcel.

About the pr0n, you could try contacting a linden. but as far as I know it's perfectly legal to do so.

You however should take a break, and try getting a parcel in a non store infested area. SL isn't about money or sex, but to see that you should just stay out of the wrong areas.

Hi, hon. I am sorry to hear you are felling the effects of rude people and the "anything for a buck" mentality that is mainland living. There are no zoning laws and it has bothered me before as well.

I rent now. You don't need a premium account and for 10$ a month you get 2500L$ instead of the 1200LS stipend so the extra 425L$ a week can usually get you a nicer place in a managed community where these sort of things don't happen.

Take your time, look around, find a good place to live. Once you find the right place you will be thanking your old neighbor for conviencing you to move up to a better place for less money.

So I should just give away my property? This was not a store infested area! This was a nice area until this guy harassed the heck out of everyone.

I do write the lindens, file abuse reports and whatever. They don't do a thing besides ignore me. They did however respond to my pervert neighbor when I planted those mega prims on my property that edged over on his... he pays more.......... so they responded.

SL is about money and sex.

Maybe you need to take a break from SL then? I noticed you're involved with the SL Therapists and Counselors Group? Maybe one of your friends might be able to help you out of your funk? You sound so down!

Thank you Janice but I have rented. I rented a nice plot from Anshe CHung. Then SL locked me out for 6 months because I couldn't spell seopphang. Still had to pay rent, until I finnally stopped payment after several months.... forfited all the money for the property I paid and the monthly rents as well.
Swear I would never rent again after that.

This is because he is a concierge user who has a special live chat support channel. Concierge support work pretty fast (as I know from the time when I used it myself).

Actually SL nowadays is pretty much like RL. If you want privacy, or a nice view, or both, you need to pay for it. Sorry to sound hard-nosed on this, but that's my experience.

Unfortunately, regions may change to the better or worse with people coming and going. Luckily, in SL (as opposed to RL), it's pretty easy to relocate. And with TP physical distances don't matter anymore, anyway.

I am very sorry about your bad experience with that guy. I don't see an easy way out for as long as you stay there, though.

Helga - set the parcel for sale at a reasonable price, or slightly above market value. You do not need land in SL to met up with friends - and you have made a lot of friends in the Forums over the last couple of days. When you feel like owning land again (if you do), you will know better what you want, and what kind of area you want to stay in, and who with.

I hate to hear the age-old money/sex complaint because it so untrue. If that's all you see, then maybe that's what you are looking for...

There is so much to do and see in SL - money and sex are such a small part of the world. Just like in the RL, its going to be around and you can choose not to pay attention. Complaining about it won't make it go away -- besides the fact that your oversexed neighbors have just as much a right to their SL as you do. Maybe they are offended by your "prudish" attitude. Hey, I'm offended every time I drive past a Christian church, but I have no right to force them to remove it.

And if moving to 500m will keep you from visiting your friends, then how much of a friend are you? You may want to use those therapy skillas on yourself to learn how to build relationships.

he might have gotten a linden to have our stuff returned, BUT, i suspect he got some of the recieving part of it aswell or else he wouldn`t have removed the stuff and we`re off the hook with no warning cause every one was to blame

My friends in the neighborhood have sold off or do not come on as much anymore, all equally frustrated.

The answer to this is simple... the lindens should have red light districts, selling districts and residential areas!!

That would end this nightmare that many of us are going through. I am far from being a prude, but not being able to visit my own property without watching people have sex dosn't seem unreasonable.

So move to a PG sim. You are the one who bought property in a "red light area" don't expect others who move there not to use it as such.

I can also heartily recommend the Forum Hangout. Friendly folks there.

I get down sometimes too at the ugliness I see in SL and I think it may reflect an ugliness in human nature. But then I go someplace like Book Island and see evidence of at least some people trying to be creative (although seldom other people are there), or I go to the Botanical Garden region, a beautiful place made that way for the sake of it, and I feel inspired again. I also like just to explore at random. I see a lot more ugliness that way, ad farms in particular, but I also see some wonderful imagination at work.

I am quite a loner however, both here and in RL, and it sounds like you need more connections with other people than these activities alone may bring. The Hangout's a good place for that.

[Edit -- I'm not implying here that pixel sex is necessarily ugly or unimaginative. It is in fact almost entirely in the imagination isn't it? I couldn't endorse any kind of restriction or zoning if it's on a mainland mature sim. But any activity can get ugly if done without respect for your fellow citizens. The solution is to try rising above it ourselves- and not just via a skybox.]

set your property for sale at a price higher then you paid and rent a nice area on a island where you know people have to stick to a covenant

This happened to my neighbors too, when the stores & sex clubs moved into the sim where I have my lil' residential place.

Everyone else moved out, but me. I stuck it out.

That and my house sticks out like a sore thumb, along with some nice lag inducing scripts in some lawn ornaments, is one reason I think the shops & sex clubs moved.

In fact, last I checked the land around me was raised up like someone was trying to "hide" my house.... so I raised my land up too! So far, no one has moved in around me.

Ok, there IS a sex club next door but its up in the sky so I'm not bothered by it nor it by me. Its usually empty there anyways.

Best advice I can give is to wait it out. Sex clubs & Nightclubs come & go rather quickly in SL.

the ultimate weapon against greefers too. lag them to death. is amazing how badly all those superduper speedy zoomzoom chrushy killy greefy things perform, if at all, when up against an optimised targetted auto-reponse lagger when you're tucked up nice and safe in the comfort of your own home with your friends =)

Sorry, Helga, but the prims encroaching on your land was one thing, but you thinking that an area should remain the same as it was you moved into it, is something else - it's just plain wrong, and it's very selfish. You are saying that people should not be allowed to do what they want with their own land - including you. How do you rationalise that? And why should you be the one who decides what the neighbours can and cannot do with their land? Would it suit you if there was a rule to say that largest neighbour is the one who decides what everyone around can and cannot do with their land. Do you see how silly it is?

As people have suggested to you, if you want residential land, go somewhere where it is set as residential in the covenant - rent on a private island. I'm sorry, but you haven't got a leg to stand on with the 2 extra threads - after the first one about the encroaching prims.

Well if you do decide to leave/sell, chop your land up into 16m plots and sell it to 6 different adfarmers instead of him. Or if you are leaving anyway try reverse extortion on him and see if he'll pay ridiculous sums to get rid of you

Helga, you and I joined SL the same time. A lot has changed since then.

I lived on my first land with extra added for over 3 years. I had great neighbours and a big part of the area was landscaped and it was perfect. Then the neighbours moved, all the landscaping went and at one point I was surrounded on 3 sides with red ban lines and big buildings. Enough was enough and I regretfully sold up and moved to water fronted land in what was a new sim at the time.

This neighbour of yours has encroached on your land with a porn club which most people wouldn't like but as someone said, it is his land to do with as he wishes. You have 3 options: take your house up to 600 or 700 metres, build a wall with a nice view on your side and white on the other, or if you don't want to deal with this on a daily basis, just move. Set the price of your land high and hope he buys you out.

No-one can guarantee you will have perfect neighbours near to your new land but I doubt it will be as bad as what you have to deal with now. It's ruining your second life and you need to act.

then do what I'd do, MOVE.... seriously, there are places that are nicer, have decent neighbors you can talk to and instead of bemoaning your current plpot, sell high, buy land with fun neighbors and set it all abck up.... thankfully moving isn't the same pain it is in RL, and there are places you can go that you don't need to bother with all the things you despise
