I hear you, but most of what you speak of is to cover hardware costs, and managing the server farm. Purchasing a sim only buys you space on a server and the supporting OS etc.. Teir covers the management of that server, both of which are no different to any standard 'Hosting' deal'. The person who bought the land is then allowed to create what they wish within the limitations of the prim count etc facilities provided. The Premuim account was to give a revenue over and above those elements.

It's too bad the problems described in this thread's OP from September of 06 are still with us. It took me a bit to realize how old the thread is.

I looked back in the archives and the first complaints about lag were in April of 2003 - lol

Also in Sept of 03 there were around 100-300 online at peak times.

Someone who was around then would know better. I know a few people from 2003 and like I said read some of the archives lol - but dont know first hand what it was like.

By the time I was around dwell already existed and clubs would give away lindens in raffleballs pretty frequently as well as the ever popular hourly contests.

Cannot log in AT ALL right now. "The system is logging you out." What? Trying different locations. Says I'm being logged out. Every time I do this it pushes the 'available time' ahead a few minutes.

SL using 88-90% of the CPU *at the login screen*. Huh?

I seriously don't know how SL hasn't completely tanked yet.

Have someone IM you ingame, this will force the servers to look at the status of your account and see you as offline and log you out fully. Then you can log back in normally.

I tried this with an alt, it doesn't help. It seems maybe there was something wrong with the sim because when I logged my alt out there after trying the IM, bumping the avatar around, etc the same thing happened to it. Also one of my neighbors was ghosted for several hours as well.

Well recently I experenced this as well. And after someone sent a LOT of IM's eventually it started saying "user is not online". However if somone went to the sim where my avatar was, it was still there (it should also be noted that the avatar never goes into "away mode". The only way that I know of to get this fixed is to have the sim restarted. Thankfully the sim I was stuck in was a private one and the owner was on hand to do this. Hopefully a linden would do this as well for a mainland sim if the problem occurs there becuase otherwise you could possibly be locked out of SL for days or longer.

All I know is that my connectivity issues have degraded and continue to worsen with greater degree of frequency with each patch since I joined in October. Now for every good day I have, I end up with 4 bad ones.

Perhaps this is directly related to subscribership numbers and the inability of SL's hardware to meet the load requirements. When I joined there was an average of 6-8 thousand players on at any given time. Today that number has increased to 22-37 thousand.

But what annoys me the most is the fact is there is never appears to be any Lindens credited to one's account for the hours and days when SL is just not playable yet my US dollars are always taken by the Lindens regardless if I can play the game or not.

My tier may only be $40 a month but I am ready to dump this SL lag fest because one or two days a week of problem free game play is just not worth it no matter how you look at things...

but every since i became a full member I have had more prob's then when I was a free member...

I have had more frez up's and more kick offs then ever, it is like L.L. dose not care any more about what happens to me..

and as to the first post here about loseing packet I have been loseing a lot of them as well, now i do not have a top of the line system like a lot of people but I do have amoe then enough of one to handel SL.

What gets me the most is that if I am standing some wher even on my own land trying to make something or working on something I will frezz up and have to restart the bloody game and that is what makes me mad..

It is like L.L.'s dose not care about what is happeing to the member's of SL and we are no more then a then cash cows and to hell with us...

There is a new 3D world starting up like SL that mite be better then SL it is called World of Kaneva it is still in the firat stage but it will probly be better at lest right now and being in on the ground floor I at lest can get more then I will in SL i am sure...

So if SL and L.L. do not start doing more for it's member's I am realy thinking of just droping it and going full time over to Kaneva full time and see what all that I can get out of it insted..

I do not like people who do not take cae of those that who pay good money for what they do not get....

I've been in SL now since November 2006

It gets worse with each new "version" i have the following problems :-

1. Friends list. My friends think i'm ignoring them cos i dont know they are online or vice versa. Its a joke how can we build a community like this.

2. Packet loss. Awful. Not sure if this is relatedme not being a technical person but i crasg so oftern i just give up. Not only that but my PC crashes as well. And please dont say it's cos of my system. It's new high spec and should handle this with ease.

3. Textures. Since the latest 1.15.1 version i cant use my textures without the painful workaround of missing the first character of the name. This means using both inventory and edit textures to be able to work and it's SOUL DESTROYING. Sort it out. I sent in a request to the support but in 3 days nothing. Great way to build consumer confidence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Chat. So mixed up i forget where i am. It never comes out in the order in which i typed it.

Now why on earth are they wasting time with a voice chat syatem and new scutpties when what they already have is almost useless. FIX IT FIRST before we all leave!!!!!

And as for my plans to open a business in SL. They are on hold. The lindens don't give a monkey's so why should i invest time and money in here. They are quite happy to see me sat on my backside twiddling my thumbs while they ignore my attempts to contact them (via a telephone number on their website for their UK support that dons'nt exist), do nothing about the problems and keep wittering on about new features.

There i'm done. If anyone at Linden ever reads this and it's not just another waste of my effort.
