Jonas and Devlin, Phaylen didn't write the FIC documents. She was accused of doing so, but there is no proof that she was the author of the FICazoid documents.Also, she worked very hard to put this event together. Please don't negate what she has done based on rumor and speculation. I didn't negate it. I congradulated her and the others for winning. I also apologized for picking on Jonas. _____________________

Those nominated are to be applauded. The awards are worthless. Actually, she commissioned those awards to be made by a renowned artist. That involved time, effort and probably money. I have not seen what these awards look like, but I'm sure they're nothing short of amazing. Did you cast your vote for the MVAs? Were you one of the people that was targeted in the PDF? Probably not. Please have respect for the people that suffered and drop this. _____________________

I think a round of congratulations are certainly in order for all of these fine achievers. I have known many of them for a long time, and they are gleaming examples of what is good about Second Life. This holds true with or without a specific award.
I would add that while the excellence of these winners is incontestable, some people have grave concerns about the legitimacy of the award program itself. These concerns have been dismissed by some as mere jealously, but we should remember that Hiro Pendragon was not motivated by jealousy when he declined his Metaverse Award for Scripting because of these very concerns. /140/d1/106132/1.html I do stand behind Hiro's decision, and I share his concerns about the illegitimacy of the Metaverse Award. I know many others do as well. But of course no award program needs 100% support from the general populace. Even the Nobel Prize is prone to fairly regular controversy!! While I cannot in good conscience recognize the Metaverse Award as valid, I think it's good that it exists and continues to exist. I would also whole heartedly support and applaud efforts by others to organize alternative awards programs that capitalize on what we have learned from this program. For example, an award program with a rotating staff could, if done properly, avoid long term credibility damage caused by any one member. I would love to see discussions regarding how such an award program could be structured. I would gladly lend my enthusiastic assistance if requested. Once again, congrats to the folks who now reap the rewards of their their hard work. I recognize your achievements now as I have always recognized them in the past. _____________________
