I just had the funniest vision of a mad guy, with crazy hair and a cheap white shirt, jumping up and down, and screaming across a room full of cubicles and computers "Sell, godammit SELL NOW!" :D

The market changes constantly but when I posted early the lowest sell price was at $3.41 since the 13 million at 3.37 was removed.

It all depends on when you take your snap shot. The market is really moving up and down, it looks like most people have cashed out, I have not seen a market this empty in a long time.

If you look closely at today's intra-day chart on GOM, you can barely make it out, but it says -- "Sell, beotch!!"

They're taking out the net worth board in 1.7?

Ha, pressure from the rich people.

I don't like SL anymore. I think it's becoming corrupt. It's becoming all about the richest people in SL. A few have too much money and influence, and the ability to crash the Linden dollar in one swift movement.

Ahhh, I feel your pain!

Well I am not taking blame completely away from LL lol. They need to annouce solid plans about their intentions before there is even a chance of general confidence in the L$, let alone stabilisation. You're expressing what many feel I would guess, myself being one of them.

Dream on Hiro.

As I've mentioned before herein, in a phone conversation with Phillip over 7 months ago he talked about their plans to integrate the currency exchanges and the web-shops into the SL Client...

Has anyone seen it?

Nuffin much more than talking the talk...

I followed his advice weeks ago, and also sheltered my very modest land holdings.

Loving my un-encumbered SL!

well folks It looks like your trubbles are over I just recived this E-mail:

"We regret to announce that Gaming Open Market will be stopping all
trading of L$ effective 10pm eastern time Sunday October 2nd. After
that, the site will remain open long enough to allow everyone to
withdraw their cash and L$ balances.

This choice has not been made lightly. However, we feel that closing
the L$
market to concentrate on other projects is in the long-term best
interests of GOM.

Thank you all for taking part in what was for us an interesting
adventure.

Tom Merrall
President - Gaming Open Market Corp."

It seems to be a mute point now.

I only got the email about an hour ago, so the emails have been trickling out.

It would be great if someone were to take over GOM.

I'd be *very* surprised if they put it up for sale.

Also, GOM was not about the software, the website, the ATMs. It was about the people running it. GOM would not be GOM if someone else took over.

Are you saying that myself and a group of serious minded individuals couldn't equal or surpass the customer service GOM provided?

I can promise no bullshit drama in forums.

But it may be moot seeing as how SLExchange is running with the ball already. Besides I had little hope that GOM would contact me in regards to moving the house.

My statement was no slur on you, I don't even know you. GOM have a couple of years of providing this service, that's the point I was trying to make. And with all due respect, you haven't been here yet a month!

Statements like that are not going to do you any good if you are serious about this.

Well it states you joined september 2005. If it is an alt of an older account, I would suggest that you use that to be taken more seriously :)

Personally, I feel that if they do not at least entertain
the idea of someone taking it over, then that helps
reinforce the notion that this is for revenge.

If they are not out for revenge, and someone is
willing to take it over... then there should be no
reason not to help the community who obviously
wants to see GOM continue.

It will be interesting to see how it's handled.

I understand where you are coming from, but I wouldn't read it that way. Having had businesses in real life that have pretty much felt like my creations, I can understand that not selling could be for a smiliar kind of attachment. It's not logical or in the best interests of anyone agreed, but I would understand if it wasn't for sale.

marketing of SL would have helped
09-28-2005 12:43
I have posted a thread in a couple of areas today that I believe lend HUGELY to the very problem that you are all talking about. In short...Marketing SL to the masses to get new users, that need Linden WOULD HELP! And I am told not one marketing dollar spent yet! They were actually excited about that. hmmmm makes you wonder doesn't it. What is really going on?

Maybe the rate of growth is comfortable for LL now? Maybe they would not be able to cope with higher growth that marketing would lead to?

if the growth rate is good for them why the free accounts?
09-28-2005 12:47
I would generally agree with your statement...but one question looms...if they can't handle the growth or are comfortable with the growth rate they have...why give accounts away for free?
