From: Lordfly Digeridoo wtf? Mature sims, without variance, equal sex balls and BDSM equipment EVERYWHERE. By all means, show me a public mature sim without a single sex ball. It ain't gonna happen, thouhg. LF Sorry to burst your stereotype bubble, LF, but try Freelon. No sex balls or BDSM equipment in the sim that I know of.

From: CoCo Brocco COME ON!! we are all adults here now! no reason to make it pg land anywhere now. seems pathetic we gotta live by kids views, on land, when we are all over 18! land should all be mature from now on!! i mean whats the statistics? what new land has been made pg? i am sure all of it is mature mature!! Lindens should take the pg off all land!! Off the old pg's!! It's pretty much common knowledge that clubs prefer Mature sims to pg sims. Some ppl enjoy pg sims for many reasons not just the lower amount of clubs, and sexualy related. I have found there is more a sence of community in pg areas. More trees, more ppl just chatting. They are not being a prude because they prefer to spend their sl time in pg areas. I suspect you found a nice piece of property that you really wanted but it was pg. Not everyone's SL experience is what you have in mind. I suggest you accomidate their needs as well. Some ppl dig pg areas, some dig mature. I like both for different reasons. Your post sounds very angry. "!!!!" Try Jesse sometimes land comes up for sale there Cat

From: Cristiano Midnight I would like to see PG sims with the language restriction removed. I can understand not wanting sexual content - but giving adults warnings for swearing in an adults only environment is just plain stupid. By the same token Cristiano "I wanna f* you so hard, my c* is thr*" is not the same as saying "awww sh*t I f*ed that wall up". Sexual talk can really be "in your face" sometimes. It's nice to know there are area's in SL where when ppl don't want to hear it, have that option. Cussing does not an adult make. Cat

From: Torley Linden I like a general guideline... a common question asked in response is: "Why do we need PG sims? We're adults here!"
and then the response to that reponse is: "We may be adults, but not all of us want adult content."
If that makes sense. Perfectly said Torley

From: Lewis Nerd If you look in Land sales, for the amount of PG land available against the amount of M land available...... you'll see there's far more M land for sale.
The logical conclusion is that there is a higher demand for more PG land Hardly ROFL! the logical conclusion is that there is more M land. I'll buy you conclusion when PG land sells for MORE than M land does NOT substantially less.

Cat While I'm flattered I make your c* thr* , again sexual content restrictions I understand, including open chat (if you are going to cyber, use a damn IM, you know??). However, saying "oh shit" should not get you a warning. Cussing does not an adult make, but at the same time, you have to admit it is quite petty to give a TOS warning for a swear word.

I'm an adult and I don't swear as a matter of course, nor do I enjoy hearing it. That doesn't make me immature or a prude or any other slighted thing people may feel like calling me. It's my preference as an adult. I presume you respect my difference of opinion?

Garnet, I didn't call anyone any names, you are attributing that to yourself. I don't run around swearing like a truck driver, but at the same time a well placed swear word here or there is fine with me. If it were a rampant problem of someone swearing every other word in a PG sim all the time, then yeah, i agree with you. However, there are literally people who will warn someone for simply saying "oh shit" in a PG sim. I know people who this has happened to, and any way you cut that, it is petty.

I'm not saying you are calling me names. I'm pre-empting those who would. Sorry, my reply was probably too contracted. Your original comments did not include a proviso about the amount of swearing. Of course there is a difference between constant swearing and the odd expletive. I tend to let that sort of thing go and just listen out for repetition, which indicates something other than a casual mistake.

Ha hahahah ha hahaha.
I've been in SL for about 4 months now. As a keen observer of detail, I've learned most of the subtleties of prim shaping, scripting; I know the limits of flight for avatars and vehicles and buoyant objects; keenly aware of the performance changes implied by each client setting; have developed some intuition with respect to textures and form, dabbled with animation, sounds...
I've even met most of my neighbors, in my quiet and quite civilized and charming PG Sim.
But I never knew that a PG Sim would ding you for swearing!!
Shit, I'm such a prude...

why is so hard to use common sense? Letter of the law for the TOS and CS says no swearing in a PG sim, but someone swears as an exclimation on my PG land am I going to AR them? Of course not its simply a word, and not doing a AR is using common sense to me

Roflmao Cristiano! Hush you lol. I agree with ya though saying "sh*t should not give anyone a TOS warning in SL. Let them reserve that kind of thing to the TG. Unless of course it's repeated over and over again to aggravate ppl in a griefing manner. Such as by use of audio files repeating loudly for all the neighbors. We have to take in account all those who lack common sense here too, unfortunately.

I dunno, side thought here. I'm not against the sex places, but... has anyone come across a *tastefully* done mature place? Or are they all blazing signs, solid-color prims and neon and such, boxes with no art to it because all you need is to buy a bunch of poseballs?
This is a generalization based only on what I've seen, of course. Anyone found differently? I think, personally, I wouldn't object to the business if it didn't seem like many felt the need to be eyesores on the outside.
Yep, I live in one. (Although I realize I'm lucky in that regard)

From: Pym Sartre This thread is feeling slightly trollish. I agree, I like my PG sim, where my new neighbors are building nifty tree-heavy houses, and not sex-themed joints. I'd rather decide to find a mature content area (mindboggling easy, of course) than have it forced on me. That might be what people object to more, and not the content. I dunno, side thought here. You haven't seen them because they lack the blazing signs, solid-colour prims and neon.

I am quite fond of my PG land. Some of the residents in the sim push things a little bit, but it's still a lot less sleazy than most M land.
Some of us like virtual worlds for reasons besides sex and gambling.

I like PG land, you very rarely get clubs/tringo/lots and lots of events... And the feel is just nicer.. I don't do anything in mature sims than I couldn't do in PG sims for the most part, I watch my language a bit, but I preffer it over all.

From: Alisa Honey considering shit is in fact a bodily function its not realy a swear word any way lol Actually there are other words for the same thing ........ excrement, or having a bowel movement, which are far less offensive. Whilst I would not AR someone for swearing in a PG area (unless it was excessive), I would certainly warn them verbally, and if it were my land eject them if they did not comply. If you want to swear like a trucker..... you have many many regions in able to 'express yourself freely' .... why is it such a problem to hold your mouth in the few PG regions we have? Lewis

Sorry to the folks who have them and are shouldered out of the way by the LOUD ones. :/ Or do you feel you have? Is business better if you have big signs? Curious if, out of the forms of attracting customers, does the loudness really work? Caveat: I might have not seen them because I haven't looked. It's not one of the reasons why I personally SL. Just curious about my original question.

My guess is that people go for the big bright ugly builds and signs because it's what attracts people as they fly past.
If I'm flying around randomly, and see something that looks interesting, I will stop by and have a look. If it's bright, it stands out. Near me I have a 'sex club' that has great big neon pink balls floating above it. They contribute nothing to the build whatsoever - and are indeed quite ugly and spoil the view - but they can be seen from a distance, and many curious people will go over and have a look, just like you might go and look if you saw a big pirate ship or something as you were flying over water.
My buildings tend to be subtle and tasteful..... maybe that's why I don't get many visitors.

Ok a few thoughts. From: Cristiano Midnight I would like to see PG sims with the language restriction removed. I can understand not wanting sexual content - but giving adults warnings for swearing in an adults only environment is just plain stupid. Why? If you don't like a PG sim, there are PLENTY of others you can go to. It is ones choice to go there, and equily NOT go there. From: Martin Magpie Sexual talk can really be "in your face" sometimes. It's nice to know there are area's in SL where when ppl don't want to hear it, have that option. Cussing does not an adult make.
Cat I second and third that! From: Cristiano Midnight While I'm flattered I make your c* thr* , again sexual content restrictions I understand, including open chat (if you are going to cyber, use a damn IM, you know??). However, saying "oh shit" should not get you a warning. Cussing does not an adult make, but at the same time, you have to admit it is quite petty to give a TOS warning for a swear word. Again I say why is it petty? You are in a PG sim with PG rules. You don't see people going to a mature sim and "clean up because you offend me", no they just leave. Well why not do the same for the other way around. The sims are clearly labeled. If one is not comfortable with PG, don't go there. Just like many are often not comfortable in mature. From: Alisa Honey considering shit is in fact a bodily function its not realy a swear word any way lol Yes however there are other words that are far less offensive. I understand that some people may not have the mental ablity to easily go above 4 letter words but, I bet they can if they try. One only uses the above statement when they want to be given permission to use any language they want anywhere they want. Everyone knows what language will be (or possibly will be) offensive (assuming we are all *really* adults) to another, unless they are new to the english language and only have been around crude english speaking truck drivers up till now. -DB
