SL Capitalists,
Thanks to our capitalistic friends over at Business Week (which SL is on the cover of the latest edition) SL is posed to attract THOUSANDS of new users. These new users will be a boon to our economy and purchase massive amounts of material from established business.
Business Owners - Lets get ready to rumble!!!!!!!!!!!
I view the Business Week story as a serious blow to communists grid-wide. Because the content of the article portrayed SL in a highly capitalistic way, there is sure to be an influx of our faction. Good news as I was beginning to think the communists might have been gaining ground.
Kudos to King Philip for this coup de' gras.

One day I'll figure out why capitalists are good for the game, yet people who care, think of others, provide quality and enjoyment for others without considering how to make money out of it, are somehow bad.

I really am thrilled to be a part of the emerging metaverse, in many different capacities, some of which involve virtual business roles. I wish that you would stop minimalizing the contributions of those who invest time and money into growing Second Life, and make it a more interesting and compelling place to spend time. Whether or not you personally wish to compensate people who choose to charge for their contributions, they are STILL valid contributions.

From: Jonas Pierterson Tomorrow is my feebie giveaway and shouting just outisde Jamies Hey whats this the 'bergman box?' "I don't like this person. I think I'll try to rally a LYNCH MOB against her!" ... How sad. You might not agree with Jamie's way of removing friction from the free content market, and I might not agree with it either. But really, even with all that in mind, don't you have ANYTHING better to do?

An influx of capitalists? Oh boy, there goes the $L, falling falling falling. More people here to cash out, it's just what we need. Capitalists are the reason the $L has declined. The ordinary resident doesn't sell $L, they occasionally buy $L though. It's the sellers who have driven the value of the $L down by selling for lower and lower rates, underbidding each other to cash out as quickly as possible. Then, because their business plan is flawed, and they can't control their need to make a quick buck, they campaign to have other people's money reduced, so the value of theirs will increase.
Yep, just what we need, more banana republic capitalists. Can't wait. Anybody got any freebies I can start selling?

Whether or not you personally wish to compensate people who choose to charge for their contributions, they are STILL valid contributions. I too am thrilled to do my part in this 'emerging metaverse', if you prefer to call it that than a game. My concern is merely based on people coming here to make money, rather than to enrichen the experience for all - because we all know when there's a choice between having fun or making money, most people will choose to make money rather than do something 'just because'. I don't "compensate" anyone for anything in world - but if someone is providing a service or object that I appreciate, I spend my money buying it. If you prefer to call that compensation then that's fine, I would prefer to call it part of the gameplay. Lewis

Michael, don't need that...
Why not create stuff that works like freebie quality and charge for it?
I'm gonna enter that field myself here shortly.
Since I'd been supplementing my income (of L$50/wk) with contests (rarely), Tringo (more often) and 'Free Money' (most often), I'd decided most of what I'd created wasn't worth selling, but since the latter is drying up, I may as well grab myself a freebie vendor and sell what I've made...
Hey, it's the capitalistic way!
(and if you can't see the sarcasm oozing from every pixel of that last line, you need something nobody else can give you)
Of course, most of what I do with my funds is hang on to it... I rarely spend until I find something worth buying that I actually want, so even if I didn't earn another single L$ outside of stipends, it would take... well, I can't be bothered to do the math, but one HELL of a long time to go completely broke and have to give up my rented land...

Jamie is:
(a) Against IP rights. She does not administer to copyright law. (b) Against stipends. Only capitalist countries provide "welfare" to it's citizens. (c) Against dwell payments. Only capitalist countries issue "tax returns" as business incentive. (d) Against freedom of speech and self determination.
Therefore Jamie must be a communist.

Lewis, why don't you just give all your money to me if you are against making some money here.
That way both you and I would be happy bunnies as you would have no money and I would.

Speaking as a "game player" rather than a "bussiness owner" (by which I mean I spend money earnt in RL here in SL for me and my friends enjoyment), it will be a good thing as all these extra shops owners will mean more things to buy and Ill get even more lindens to a $ as they try to cash out their profits.
Since they will be interested in making money not spending it, they wont make very good customers for existing shops and will just serve as more competition. But that should hopefully push up quality so again benefiting game players.
They will need land or rental of shop space so people who provide that service will benefit.

j-wu Contrary to propaganda put out by the international communist conspiracy, my products are almost all sold on distribution agreement. Smaller content creators choose to place their products in my megastore because it generates synergystic foot traffic that they on their own would be hard pressed to source. Its a win-win situation.

Actually, I interpret this type of activity as harassment, which is prohibited by the TOS. I'll have no qualms calling a Linden over should you actually carry out your economic sabotage. You may think you're the first to think of this, but you're not. And action has been taken by the Lindens against these type of harassing actions at my place before. Communists - Live and Learn.
