There seems to be a lot of threads lately on various different subjects ranging from orientation to just plain "bitchin".
I think most folks are forgetting that SL IS a multinational and words have different meanings and interpretations where ever you are based.... I recall on many occasions when i was an OP on Alamak (10 years ago OMG) people taking the piss becasue i was " having a fag".
Personally Im streight, white, parent and married .... which by todays standards is a minority group...... There is such thing as OVER political correctness and sensitivity. I can only ask that as we judge others for thier intollerence should we first not look at the fact that in doing so we are ourselves showing the same intollerence. I became a member of the forum cartel to be part of what I see as a great bunch of people, maybe they dont all get along all of the time or have differences of opinion but i can only ask of you (ask = begging) can we just remember that we ARE all people... i for one am sat at my desk at work during my lunch writing this message .... not some magical avatar who exists untill i inhabit him in the evening..... Martin IS Marty ... not the other way around. So when you fall out withsomebody please remember ........... give some love and you shall recieve love
and now the question...........
Can I have some love please?

The purpose of this thread seems to be in support of someone else's thread that was locked and the wording they used as was controversial.
Basically saying we shouln't have objected so strongly.
Since the thread was locked and thus the issue dropped, I can only see this thread as an attempt to bring it back up because the OP didn't like how the other thread went.
From the Original Post it sounds like the OP had hoped that in the other thread people would have considered the remark harmless and dropped it.
That didn't happen. Its not going to happen here. If I were in a slightly more suspicious mood, I would figure this thread for an attempt at "nice guy" trolling.

Just IMHO and all.......... I was thinking earlier that several threads have gone very very ugly indeed recently for a wide variety of reasons. And it doesn't look good no matter what the reason. So I'd say, yes, let's remember we're all people, not just words on a page. I for one visit this forum to learn, have some fun and try to be helpful. I'd personally rather not see the real questions and answers drowned in ugliness. Oh, and let's all have some pie shall we, it's Friday!

You seem to be in a pretty suspicious mood anyway. That's not at all how I read the OP. There has been a lot of flaming and bitching generally of late, not just on the thread you referred to to. I read it as a call for us to be a little more positive ... and polite. I for one tend to agree. /me sends some 'platonic' love out to the thread... ... and before anyone points out that Plato was homosexual, I mean non-sexual love )

Is it really a question without the question mark?

I would say that thread is part of it but is is only part of what seems to be an overall feeling of tension and uneasiness here. Every slightly controversial topic, word, phrase or idea is being savagely attcked , ridiculed, people are throwing the personal insults out like Halloween Candy, the soap boxes and horses are getting higher and higher. There has always been a raucous, irreverence here, passionate debates, and great humor. Lately, especially since VAT it's becoming more and more just a mean, petty, place where people just climb over each other for thier idealogical high groumd, and looke to belittle each other.

From: Colette Meiji I can see this paragraph as nothing other than a direct reference to the locked thread. You can cite one example of the recent negativity without intending to focus all our attention on that particular thread. But if that's how you'd like to read it, fine. I'd rather not turn a thread calling for a little positivity into a flaming match.

The VAT thing of course was going to be nasty it costs some people a lot of money. ----------------- As far as the recent turn of events, I saw three things happen, unfortunately at the same time. One person used a phrase that many found offensive, while others couldn't see the issue. One person has a personal vendetta against the Res Mod. Other posters don't like that. One person blatantly ignored forums rules, some complained, and another particularily jumped on him for it, leading to a fight.

I hope the party goes well To be truthful, judging by the tone around here lately, I'm expecting fisticuffs, semi automatic weapons, and perhaps a tactical nuclear weapon, that will destroy Forumania, rendering the Sim uninhabitable for decades.

If it is needed, I will rez the mud wrestling pit for the hangout. That way all disputes can be settled like rational civilized beings, by rolling around on top of each other in mud.
