Thanks Lindens for taking my hard earned L$'s....I had been saving for 3/4's of a year to watch my savings take a dump because you decide to persecute EVERY SL financial institute because of the bad seeds.

Thanks a ton, I really appreciate this additional meddling in my affairs.

I am pleased to say at least I got my money out.

Whilst I like the fact they killed the casinos - there was a fruit machine on every corner. Taking the financial institutions some of which have been VERY good down is nuts.

Stop Protecting me I'm a grown up.

it's the typical grade school reaction....punish the lot for a few bad apples....the Lindens would make excellent Nazis.

learn to read you nuts. they are NOT taking down ALL "SL banks". They are putting up a requirement that a "SL Bank" has to have the RL Status of being a bank.

So because of that, I didn't lose 30K in like a few hours? Oh, thank you so much, I'm glad that silliness isn't affecting me.

And you weren't advise of that closing? weird, IBcorp (I think is run by portuguese ppl) sent an IM to all portuguese group advising that everyone that hold an account with then should withdrawal all money because bank institutions were about to close. I wasn't client of then (or of any other) but I received a msg because I belong to a portuguese group it's weird that your bank didn't advise you... I wounder if they were honest at all....

Uh... If you lost your money because the "Bank" you had invested into, closed due to Linden Lab cracking down on "Non Sanctioned Bank's" and the "Bank" had no money to give you? then Linden Lab is not the problem it is your sad choice for an investment.

Hint Hint Ginko Financial (Bank) :)

I cannot say I am sorry for people who invested into these ponzi schemes. if the "Bank" was going to be legit it would be sanctioned in the real world. so the water downed fact is people where giving money to a disconnected account of a person who is not a bank, not a company, not to be generally trusted.

If you fell for the bank scheme you might fall for this:

Dear "Insert Email Here"
This is the secertary of the late es cargo of euprpe we are glad to enform you that es cargo has left you a giant lump sum of 12,334,331.00USD That is twelve million three hundred and thirty four thousand three hundred and thirty one dollhairs

All you have todo is send us a small tranzaction fee so we can transfer the muney to you!

Send info to:

Blah Blah at Blah City

Thank You,
~ Parson who is going to sealz your monyz HAHAHA

End of email.
Spelling errors intended!

Please will the people in forum stop blabbing about this dead subject!
Thanks for the thread! I am going to shoot myself now from reading it and then responding to it :)

You deposited your hard earned savings into a virtual bank run by an avatar and had been saving for 3/4 of a year? Why didn't you just cash out and put the money into a real bank to earn interest? Lesson learned.

Just as the same typical grade school reaction to run to the forums and whine, right?

I'm sorry it takes you 9 months to save up $120. I would think you'd be smarter with that hard earned money and not 'invest' it in a 'virtual bank'.

I must point out though that becoming a RL bank is a whole lot harder than writing a few scripts.

I hope there WILL be some second life banks left.

Had to happen sooner or later...

There have been good & bad stories in the SL banking & financial area, however a LOT of people have lost a LOT of money so this is no bad thing in my opinion (speaking as someone who lost L$ too). LL were leaving themselves open to a lot of legal action as people try to gain RL details of those behind the scams.

See this thread /341/c8/212434/1.html

This has been a long time coming but probably one of LL's better interventions - just far too late for many.

You are better off out of it - honestly!

lol, if you have money in here, earned or otherwise, it's easier to let it 'ride' than to constantly sell and buy these stupid L$'s....to me, it was a convenience, the meager interest wasn't the issue... so bite me jerks.

fact is, for me this isn't THE issue that's turning me off completely on SL, it's just the final straw...I used to really evangelize this 'world', but not anymore...it just sucks, I'd never, ever play another game that crashes literally once an hour or so....it would have been uninstalled and trashed. Plus, permaloss of PAID FOR objects is just crappy database management. nuff said.

lol jagoff, oh well, hard earned virtual money earned virtual dancing in virtual clubs for virtual dips like you, and deposited in a virtual bank for virtually nothing, I guess it all fits.

I'm virtually through, I'll see what the 22nd brings....wanna buy some virtual land?

oh, and a word from our sponsor....

Oh, I must put in a good word for JT Financial, I think others on other threads have also left positive comments, too.

I've never had a bad experience with this institution, they've always been solid and forthright, so I'm wondering if they are just a crappy get rich scheme because they forgot to take the money and run?

If you are not bothered about the interest why put it in a bank in the first place? Just keep it in that little box at the top of the screen, it's not going anywhere unless you spend it. I cannot see how putting money in a bank is more convenient than keeping it in your pocket.

Sorry DAD, but nowhere did i say I wasn't. Was clearly making a point that you missed. While I'm at it, the OP clearly has no clue that this isn't the section for such a post either as it has nothing to do with "Resident-Run Websites".

Let me know if I missed anything k?, thx.

Wrong section to post this anyway.

And what do you expect should have happened after your first post? Lindens coming to pat you on the head and say sorry??? Others joining in the whining and starting a huge emo festival? Does that help anyone? I have to wonder, with all those complaints, why you even bother posting here- I would have just left SL and be done with it.

Not to mention the kind of naivety it takes to even look at a SL "bank" after the Ginko fiasco.

The Lindens have announced that $L have no value (although they can be exchanged for real money) so it seems odd only RL Banks can set up.

Too bad RL Casino's couldn't follow this reasoning and set up inside the game...

Banning casinos and banks was a very bad idea - and if you didn't like seeing them, SL is a big place, TP to another sim.....

Ever notice how people who do the most chanting to promote banning items/activities are the first to complain if anyone tries to censor anything on the internet? You can't have it both ways.

Wrong approach. By taking control of your money and "constantly buying and selling those stupid L$'s", you could have earned a comfortable return, at no risk...by currency trading on the Lindex and SL Exchange.

"Letting it ride" is fine...IF you let it ride in your own account, not some stranger's. That's all an SL "bank" is, you know...an avatar with an advertisement.

Yes hang on just a moment.

Linden have my money shouldnt they be a bank and get regulated too?

Perhaps they will have to close themselves down for being a bank ... oh my head.

What would be MUCH better is a notice given when you invest in a bank in SL

WARNING : This bank is unregulated by any authority, this means you may lose money by investing in this bank.

I hope the lindens are reading this.
